If I didn't follow charts I probably couldn't name 3. I don't know a lot of people (nobody in my life personally) that could outside this forum tbh. It also kind of blows my mind with how broken streaming is that we could potentially have an entire top 10 of only old Christmas music.

This talk of Mariah Carey's relevance to the youth is just making me feel so old lol but yeah we are entering a new decade, sometimes you don't realize how time passes until stuff like this is being talked about. The Britney/BSB domination is still fresh in my mind and that's 20 years ago, heck the Hannah Montana/HSM era is over 10 years old and I already see the 20 somethings being nostalgic about them on social media and saying stuff like "this is my childhood when music was simple good unlike today / I pity the new generation" which definitely what my generation and other older generation said to whatever current music is during early adulthood lol. Connecting this on the current, I still remember when people here on this board got frustrated The Weeknd blocked Hotline Bling from #1, as Drake has yet to hit his solo #1 at that time Little did we know, Drake will have a streak where he will have multiple weeks at #1 lol

How does an entire top 10 of Christmas music mean streaming is broken? If that's what is popular, then that is what is popular. It's not like iTunes wasn't bombarded with Christmas music before streaming took over and it's not like radio completely ignores Christmas music either. The new Jonas Brothers Christmas song is literally #1 on AC right now.

I haven't heard a single song by Mariah Carey outside AIWFCIY. I know from charts stuff that she has a lot of hit songs, I just don't know them. I'd say she's well on her way to being the Christmas lady.
Correction: I probably have heard these songs, I just couldn't sing them or match the melody with the title or anything like that.

I used to ask if anyone could name a Bing Crosby song other than White Christmas.
Nowadays I have to ask if anyone has heard of Bing Crosby at all.
Someday all that may remain of The Beatles is Happy Xmas (War Is Over) and Wonderful Christmastime.
Neither of which is a Beatles song and in the latter case...THANK GOD. But I don't see The Beatles disappearing quite so quickly; they had a major influence on a lot of things that are still around today which are too numerous to mention, and their musical legacy continues to live on and on. Every new generation seems to discover The Beatles. I think the only Beatles songs of which are truly ubiquitous are “Let It Be” and “Yesterday”. (“Come Together” and “Live and Let Die” are probably in contention too). Granted, the former songs are the ONLY ones from their discography I truly ever hear anywhere (personally) and seem to be their most popular by way of recurrent streams on both Spotify and YouTube. All in all, I think the Beatles are one of the very few, rare acts whose albums as a whole have probably outlasted their singles in terms of popularity and commercial appeal. How many albums of theirs have they re-packaged and re-released since the 1990’s, most of which are still selling in large to moderate amounts today and (old age) critics still salivate over.

I know they play the same songs a lot, but like I said, not continuously repeating a single one That's true. There was once a radio station when I was in Tampa as a teenager (it was a while ago) that played the same song twice in a row while I was listening to it one winter day. I've heard of heavy rotation, but that was too much for me.

I'm surprised though that he didn't go number one there with either of those, especially considering that "Heartless" debuted at 12 last week.

Jonas Brothers' 'Like It's Christmas' Dashes to No. 1 on Adult Contemporary Chart 12/9/2019 by Gary Trustwww.billboard.com/articles/business/chart-beat/8545735/jonas-brothers-like-its-christmas-tops-adult-contemporary-chartThe song is the first holiday hit to lead the list this season. Jonas Brothers' "Like It's Christmas" reaches the top of Billboard's Adult Contemporary radio airplay chart (dated Dec. 14), jingling from No. 7 to No. 1. The original song, newly released this holiday season on Republic Records, is the sibling trio's second AC No. 1, after "Sucker," which ruled for 11 weeks beginning in September. ("Sucker" became the act's first leader on the all-genre, multi-metric Billboard Hot 100 in March.) "Like It's Christmas" is additionally the 24th holiday No. 1 on the AC chart since 2000, around the time that a majority of stations in the format began playing seasonal songs 24/7 between Thanksgiving and Christmas each year. Here's an updated recap of all the holiday songs that have hung atop AC's highest bough since 2000: Title, Artist, Chart Date Reached No. 1, Weeks at No. 1 "Like It's Christmas," Jonas Brothers, Dec. 14, 2019, one (to date) "Cozy Little Christmas," Katy Perry, Dec. 29, 2018, one "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," John Legend feat. Is Michael Jackson just the Thriller guy since that’s the only song that charts still lol? These artists will still be known, but my guess is the majority of kids now aren’t even familiar with 2000’s music, let alone 20th century acts. BS that Michael Jackson is only known as the Thriller guy, even to kids. Most people my age and lower know what Billie Jean is.

From what I gather from people my age not plugged into the music industry, everyone is aware of who she is and knows she was a huge singer from the 90s. When it comes to knowing her material pretty much everyone knows we belong together (and appreciates it) A decent amount of people know shake it off, touch my body, & obsessed as well. No one seems to really remember #beautiful I imagine if you’re closer to 20 you probably only recognize obsessed from her unless you’re ingrained in music * of course everyone knows AIWFCIY

Goodbyes said goodbye (pun intended) it looks like. Interested to see which songs do end up surviving Christmas. I definitely think Old Town Road will survive and make 52 weeks. I actually don't think Teuth Hurts will make 52 weeks though. It may only have 5-10 weeks peft at all

Honestly i was really hoping Talk would survive and make 52 weeks, but at least Old Town Road will probably make it as well as maybe Senorita and bad guy. Just so amazed that No Guidance is STILL in the top 15 even with the Christmas stuff

What is this talk about The Beatles being forgotten lol? If anything, they are the least likely act to be forgotten! They are like synonym to pop music! Don't they have two albums in top 100 all the time too?

I’ve never understood the evergreen appeal and high spin counts of #18 and #39. They are so kitschy and sonically weak compared to most of the other ‘core’ Xmas classics. I’d love to see a burn/net negative on the Top 50 Xmas gold.
I wonder how much the continued expansion of Alexa/Echo has contributed to streaming this season. It turned out to be a major factor that seemed to surprise everyone here that week last year when Xmas songs just bombed the chart.
