{Word wall~} 100- Eyes On You. The worst big country hit this year. The lyrics are just so creepy. All he does is look at this girl. As far as I know, he may just be a stalker lol. Also, do not use the Sam Hunt style of talk-singing. 99- Knockin’ Boots. I only ranked this song so high because it’s unintentionally hilarious. I may just be immature but I think it’s funny that a 40 year old guy with two kids is singing about all he needs is sex. 98- Girls Like You. Maroon 5 is boring AF but Cardi B’s verse kinda slaps. 97- Talk You Out Of It. The lyrics suck and I can’t stand John Florida-Georgia Line’s voice. 96- The Git Up. Old Town Road but corporate, The Cha-Cha Slide, and 1,000,000x worse 95- One Thing Right. The drop is ear torture but Kane Brown sounds decent. What in the hell was that auto tune in the last 30 seconds though? 94- Baby Shark. Mylo? Are you ok? 93- Swervin’. 6ix9ine is bad but what’s worse is whatever A Boogie was doing with his voice in the verses. 92- Robbery. RIP Juice but this is really grating. I can appreciate the rawness though 91- Envy Me. This is a song. 90- Leave Me Alone. The vocals and production (mainly the reverb) are bad. But I’d be lying if I said I haven’t sung the hook out loud a few times 89- Taki Taki. One of the most grating things I’ve ever heard. But Cardi spit some fire 88- Worth It. Guess she really was worth it because you bit her. But seriously, his voice is so bad 87- Someone You Loved. This just seemed like your average piano ballad until he tried to hit those high notes. The bridge is one of the worst things I ever heard 86- Shotta Flow. IDK, this is just annoying to me

The bizarre and unexpected bottom 5 and the fact that YNW Murderer isn't out yet says a lot about how much Pulse's taste has changed in the past 2 years. What can I say? It changed for the better.

happy that this is starting! looking forward to more results! {some thoughts:} - eyes on you being last is perfectly fine, i just didn't expect it to be dead last lmao
- girls like you already out... and i'm happy
- wow there's quite a bit of bro country being cut already. i won't complain.
- i didn't realize the git up was so disliked
- someone you loved being out is bringing me joy. i absolutely despise hearing this song on the radio (especially when it happens so often).

Alright time for my really bad opinions. Won't do all the songs though
100. Eyes on you (93) - It might sound nice, but the lyrics are kinda creepy. Though I might've been a little harsh as I don't think it's that bad but I don't really care for it either.
99. Knockin' Boots (77) - This is alright, I think it's musically okay. Lyrics and meaning aside, it's ok.
98. Girls like you (53) - I don't hate this as much as most people, as I don't mind listening to it if I literally have no other option. But I think it's a tad overhated.
96. The Git Up (58) - Basically Hoedown Throwdown 2.0, which is a bop, I think it's an amusing song but I see why people hate it.
95. One Thing Right (98) - Kane Brown is actually decent in this, but the drop genuinely makes me angry.
94. Baby Shark (33) - My highest ranking lost this round lol. And yes I'm serious about ranking it this high. I probably judged Baby Shark the most objectively out of all my rankings, the production is pretty good for a kids song, the lyrics are nice and cute, the vocals are fine (except when it speeds up at the last part tho). In all seriousness, I learned this song at Boy Scout camp 10 years ago with the hand motions and everything, so it was great to see this song become popular with all the kiddos today, this song consistently brings me joy which majority of the songs on this list can't do.
93. Swervin (60) - Rainbow hair guy's part grew on me. Boogie is pretty good on it too.
92. Robbery (50) - Vocals aside, lyrically I really enjoy this (apart from that one line), the beat goes hard too. The real robbery is this was bottom 10 :/
90. Leave Me Alone (76) - Out of all the songs on this RD, this song's chorus is stuck in the head the most and repeats over in my head at the randomest times. I kind of forget the rest of the song tho.
89. Taki Taki (47) - I really ranked this top half? Eh, it's alright.
88. Worth It (67) - I think this song's kinda cute. Vocals could be a bit better but the meaning is kinda nice
87. Someone you loved (55) - Besides the bridge, this song is fine imo.

Some thoughts on the eliminations so far: ~ I expected a hip-hop purge for this set, yet what we got was a country purge. That's fine though with some of the eliminations (Eyes on You, Talk You Out of It) ~ How come Florida Georgia Line beat Maroon 5??? Like seriously, WHY?!?!~ My thoughts on "Baby Shark" is a mix between charmander78 and mako, because I enjoy "Baby Shark", although it's been overplayed and I can really expect "Baby Shark" being played when nearby with a child (as a Filipino, I can agree with mako) ~ Why the hate on "Taki Taki" and "Someone You Loved" :( Btw, "Someone You Loved" was my first Top 10 being eliminated.

I'm so glad this rankdown has finally begun, as I was really looking forward to it. So...this bottom 15 was more unpredictable than I expected, and unfortunately, not in the way I was hoping for... {Opinions on 100-96} 100. Eyes On You (81): To be honest, from Lucifer's hints, the thought of a country song being last place did pop up on my mind. Still, this is such an easy target - boring, by-the-numbers country production alongside awkward lyrics with slightly creepy undertones. I get it why it got to last place, but for me, it didn't deserve it in the slightest, especially over some awful pop songs that will inevitably overstay their welcome. 🙄
It wasn't even such a big hit, and it will definitely be quickly forgotten.
99. Knockin' Boots (72): Bit of a guilty pleasure, personally. Sure, the lyrics are corny and cringy as all hell, but I do find the instrumental charming (especially the little post-chorus guitar riffs) and Luke Bryan's performance seems to imply enough self-awareness of the silliness of the lyrical content. It's not brilliant or anything, especially over some fantastic country songs on this list, but definitely not bottom 10 material - at all.
98. Girls Like You (80): I did this whole list using a preference revealer and impulsively judging on how much these songs meant to me over the course of the year. I didn't accompany the entirety of this song's chart run, so my frustration at it doesn't run skin deep as it might for some. In hindsight, I should have probably put it lower for its undeserved success and what it represents for Maroon 5's future. It's the definition of a generic song tailor-made for radio consumption. It's more inoffensive than other songs on this list (so I probably wouldn't put it bottom 10), but it's still a very poor song devoid of any fun and personality characterizing the best work from this band, and not even Cardi B's energy saves it from being an excruciatingly dreary listen.
97. Talk You Out Of It (93 - four spots off from a PR): It's such a shame the lyrics make this such an uncomfortable listen, because I actually really like the simple production and the vocal melodies on the chorus. It's not outright creepy, but the way the main premise of the song is phrased just comes off as icky to me.
For a superior execution, think about Bruno Mars' excellent "Versace On The Floor" - the idea is the same, but Bruno conveys a sensual atmosphere that builds up throughout the song, so you know both parties are into the moment. Meanwhile, FGL's presentation comes across as the fantasy of two extremely horny men (proof: 'Here you come lookin' like a grown man's dream'). And just the whole expression of 'talking someone out of a dress' is just...it just doesn't work, that's all 😬
96. The Git Up (55): ROBBED! I don't know why some of you hate this song so much. Is it a blatant attempt to capitalize on "Old Town Road" 's success? Yes, but that doesn't mean it's bad by any means. It's just a silly dance song with solid production and stereotypically country vocals. Not my favorite dance song, but it's still a fun one regardless. And don't worry, it will be forgotten over time, unlike some of the pop songs still in...

Part 2 of my rather pretentious and over-analytical commentary on the reveals so far: {Opinions on 95-86} 95. One Thing Right (86): Kane Brown's ever-pleasant voice and his attempts at building up some sort of momentum are the only saving graces of this bland and underwhelming song. Under a better producer and with a better execution of the lyrical premise, this could have been a pretty solid EDM/country crossover... but as it is, it's just a disappointment.
While it does represent the worst aspects of modern EDM and 'country', it was such a nonevent that a bottom 5 placement is a bit too much in my opinion. Regardless, I'm not complaining much, especially since the post-chorus drop is particularly uninspired. Was "Happier" really an exception of Marshmello's output? (and even then, he was by far the weakest link of that song)
94. Baby Shark (52): Y'all hate fun and silly music, don't you? I understand if you find this song irritating due to overplay - that's fine. But for the others, just look at it at a purely objective level: it has a good production for a children's song, catchy and smartly written lyrics that make it fun to sing along, and an insanely infectious hook - aspects that many of 2019's 'adult' hits so desperately lack. Even looking other songs with the same target audience, "Baby Shark" is miles superior than some of the cringeworthy songs of some animated movies (Disney included - just think of songs like "Fixer Upper" from Frozen).
And also, it was just an iconic moment having this adorable song charting on the Hot 100 and actually having enough longevity to make the bloody Year-End. If you put this at #100, I just feel pity, really, especially since so much worse can be found on this list.
93. Swervin (97): Another bottom 10 out! 😊 Besides the obvious rainbow-coloured elephant in the room, it's just a dull song borrowing heavily from the "In My Feelings" style production (which is not even that good to begin with). Also, 'Yeah, I'm all on your body, make you nervous' is just not a good look for anyone. There are songs above it on my list that I personally despise more, but at least I can get their appeal. I don't see how this became a hit at all, especially when Boogie had a much better song with "Look Back at It".
92. Robbery (58): Like with @gabingston , I admit Diamond Axe Studios' analysis of it on his Best Hit Songs of 2019 made me see the song in a completely different light. I didn't mind it all that much to begin with, but the whole idea of the lyrics representing a cry for help really hit hard, especially after Juice's tragic passing. It's a highly overhated song and the one that least deserved to be here in the bottom 10 (despite me liking "Baby Shark" better).
I can't believe we let this be lower than "No Guidance" 🙄
91. Envy Me (95 - four off from a PR, yet again): Again, please consider I used the preference revealer when making my list. It's an unremarkable trap song that...exists. It's hard to fathom I actually placed this below "7 rings", but still, it's the only song from this entire list I cannot for the life of me recall the melody or beat. In hindsight, not really bottom 10 worthy, but still not much to write home about.
90. Leave Me Alone (68): Thank you Todd In The Shadows for making the chorus of this song stuck in my head for weeks. And thank you Sean Fay Wolfe from Diamond Axe Studios for making me appreciate the song for the literal mood it is. The rest of the song is not much to write home about, but the chorus on its own should be enough reason to not place it in the first circle of hell, especially while "No Guidance" is still in. Where's the energy from the Pop Radio rankdown?
89. Taki Taki (87 - two off from a PR): Meh...never cared much about this song. I don't mind the production, Selena Gomez does a decent enough job, and there's an embarrassing reference to Nagasaki courtesy of Ozuna. Still, there are definitely worse songs that should be below this one, that's for sure.
88. Worth It (26): My highest ranking lost, and I have no regrets here. The sentiment feels genuine, the lyrics are incredibly sweet, and there's a guitar solo. I might have ranked this a bit higher than it deserved because of that solo, but who cares? It was worth it. 😉
Also, despite YK Osiris proving to be a not-so-pleasant individual as this song suggests, it doesn't affect my opinion on this song. Is his singing rather strained? Yes, but I personally don't mind it. Regardless, this is 100 times better than the Fifth Harmony "Talk Dirty" knock-off.
87. Someone You Loved (30): Overhated. I irrationally enjoy this song the same way I irrationally can't stand "Señorita". Some things are just part of human nature and cannot be explained, really.
And IIIIIIIIII tend to close my eyes when it hurts sometimes/I fall into your RAAAAAAANKS
86. Shotta Flow (84 - two off from a PR - again!): I appreciate some of its aspects, while others can be extremely grating if you're not in the mood for it. Definitely not a song I'd go out of my way to listen, but still okay, I guess. I get its appeal though.

Haven't been paying attention, so I finally just caught up. Not much to say that hasn't already been said (not a fan of purging a genre, but country deserved it this year). I will say that I expect a good number of my bottom 20 songs to make it far.

I will say that I expect a good number of my bottom 20 songs to make it far.Same...especially if the 2019 Pop Radio Rankdown is any indication. 😬 Got to disagree with you on the country purge, though. I mean, these reveals were fair, but the other country songs remaining range from pretty good to excellent (with 2 and 1/2 of them making my top 10). Here's to me hoping we get rid of the subpar trap and especially pop songs before eliminating any more country songs, but I'm fully prepared to be disappointed.

Also, dear mako and other fellow "Baby Shark" haters...let me just share my personal defense of the song here (as previously posted, but now shared separately and visibly): 94. I'm sure many other people who placed it higher share a similar viewpoint, and I'd be looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this. 😊

as a youtuber, it's basically impossible for me not to hate baby shark because of everything it represents for the platform. also, i feel like everyone praises it simply because it's not inhumanly grating, and it's fun to pretend it's actually good. The bass opening at the beginning is sick, sure, but the production on the chorus completely kills all of that and is essentially unlistenable. also, it's a campfire song that loses its entire atmosphere from having studio production that makes the fact that the pinkfong cover is accepted as the standard of the song just a stain on its reputation. Especially with the new and more accurate h100 formula meaning it wouldn't have charted at all, it's just an embarrassing moment for the charts that shouldn't be given a pass just because it's for children.

Thank you very much for taking your time to eloquently contruct your argument as to why you dislike this song. 👏🏼 While I don't think it represents an embarrassing moment for the charts, I do understand where you're coming from, especially with the complaints that the Pinkfong cover has become the definitive version of this song when it's not necessarily its most effective interpretation. I still don't think it deserves to be in the bottom 10 of the worst songs of the year, just because there are some songs here that represent much worse for their respective genres and artists, but I respect your opinion nonetheless. 🙂

Fun coincidence: my #10 song for my 2001 Hot 100 Rankdown list got eliminated recently at #82. Turns out its Year-End position is the same as my #10 from this year - another very unpopular song. I wonder which one will last longer... 🤔
Looking forward to the second circle of hellish reveals. 🙂

Dad help me, but this is NOT my fault. I didn't order an apocalypse, and if I did there are much more creative ways I could punish you miserable lot (especially for that other supposed rankdown currently happening, I can't think of anything less motivating than trying to sift through that slog). Or maybe I should be punishing you for that by continuing to hold this thing for ransom... anyway. You might notice if you flick back through the previous reveals a certain addition to the reveal posts, namely artist histories for these Hot 100 games. They were intended to be there all along, but in the push to get *something* out there before somebody had teeth forcibly removed from their skull the histories were left out. Well. That's been fixed. And here's a bunch of boring stuff nobody's got time to read through.
