I skipped this thread at first because I didn't see this as Hot 100 year-end rankdown... But its deadline is my birthday and the fact that basically know every song in this list makes it easy to rank them all quickly.

This won't take much time to do. Thank God this year was better than 2018 but I guess that wasnt very hard to do.

You can bet I’ll be taking part of this! It’s the first chart year I’ve followed from beginning to end, and I really want to boost some of my underrated favorites 🙂

Will do this, I'll send in my ranking this weekend most likely, I already ranked the Canadian YE so a lot of these songs I'll know basic positions for already.

Almost half done with this already.
A few pleasant surprises so far as well as some real bad ones. I'd be happy to send the latter to you for some eternal torture.

this year was actually surprisingly really good
I would for sure call this one of the top 3 of the decade
hip hop was great, the country was not half bad, everything else was solid
except there were so many trash-ass pop songs on this list, possibly more than I've ever seen on a mainstream year-end
my list is gonna seem so genre-biased lmao

except there were so many trash-ass pop songs on this list, possibly more than I've ever seen on a mainstream year-end My thoughts exactly. Speaking as someone who's not much of an urban fan, there was a surprising amount of genuinely great hip hop songs this year, but man, pop couldn't have been more generic and disappointing. Most releases seemed to rely on name recognition alone, regardless of their actual quality, and radio bought it, naturally. To make matters worse, artists like Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande, who both had incredible albums this year, decided to make their very worst songs as singles. It's no wonder the better pop songs from this list were for the most part 2018 releases, with some notable exceptions ("Dancing With A Stranger", "Sucker", and "If I Can't Have You").

Done with my rankings, but I'd like to wait until I'm happy with them. So I will send later. This was definitely my least favorite ever year-end Hot 100 chart.

Why isn't there a tag list for this rankdown?

I feel the opposite tbh. I think a lot of the rap hits this year weren't very good, especially compared to the last two years. Pop got better, but anything was going to be better than 2018's pop.

I feel the opposite tbh. I think a lot of the rap hits this year weren't very good, especially compared to the last two years. Pop got better, but anything was going to be better than 2018's pop. I'm not much qualified to talk about rap music since I'm not a big fan of the genre, but I agree that 2017 and 2018 had their fair share of great rap songs. However, for every high there was a disastrous low like "Gucci Gang" or "FEFE", while the bad rap/hip hop songs this year were generic and mediocre at worst. However, I'm afraid I have to disagree with your opinion on 2018 pop. Sure, the best pop songs of the Year-End might have been 2017 releases like "Delicate", "Havana", and "New Rules", but Ariana Grande in particular helped to bring pop back into the limelight with "no tears left to cry" and "God is a woman", and songs like Shawn Mendes' "In My Blood" and Dua Lipa's "One Kiss" and "IDGAF" were also quite strong. And, as previously mentioned, the best 2018 songs were carried over to this Year-End, and they completely overshadow the generic 2019 releases like "ME!", "I Don't Care", and "Señorita". That's just my opinion, of course, judging from the Year-End list alone (so without taking into account the album releases).

The moment I the Year-End list was released, I was really expecting a notification from Sambalada for the 2019 YE Rankdown to come up. But for weeks, I received nothing, so I got a bit confused. Then, I realized that he passed the 2015 YE Rankdown to crazyb due to personal commitments, so I figured someone else would do it. Then, I stumbled to this thread thinking it's a different YE Rankdown based off a particular genre, but lo and behold, it's the Billboard YE Hot 100 one! For short, I'm joining this, another easy one to rank.

Mild on most of these. The big hits wore out extremely quickly this year, maybe due to staleness of chart even though 2019 technically has most #1s in any given year of this decade.

I wonder how much ME! would tank since unlike with LWYMMD, even Taylor stans would happily thrash the song

I wonder how much ME! would tank since unlike with LWYMMD, even Taylor stans would happily thrash the song Hopefully not much. If there's one Taylor song that deserves tanking, it's "You Need To Calm Down", which is a clumsy and awkward mess despite its noble premise. "ME!" is at least a well-executed song for what it is, a playful and deliberately childish anthem to self-love and accepting others for their flaws. YNTCD, on the other hand, is out there juxtaposing online hatred with homophobia, whereas it should have been either one thing or the other.

SENT. This was actually a surprisingly good year. Even my bottom songs didn't really infuriate me as much as last years. However, I'm prepared to lose a LOT..but my #1 is gonna win.

I'm finally starting this. I have about 20 songs left to rank after doing what I know. I'm gonna have a weird couple hours listening to rap and country exclusively.
