Remember Dead Can Dance (from 1994 Alt)? Those are Lisa Gerrard's vocals. This song is the definition of a trip. These guys also make a lot of their own animations and such for their videos, so that's really cool too 14

I did not know that was Lisa Gerrard, somehow...which is so dumb, because of course it is.

#13 is the 6th highest SD. 5 people ranked it top 10, and most of those are top 5s. It also has 4 other top 18s. However, it was countered by 3 bottom 6s.

When a state names a holiday after you, you know you're a big deal. I was actually considering this for a FOAT-style RD, but I know it wouldn't have gotten the shine it deserved there. My condolences, peacebone 13

I tried to get into this, I really did, because Frankie's such an important part of the scene, and to rank one of his songs last is a choice and a half.
Every time I listen to it, though, I feel like there's parts of a really good song that don't come together. Maybe I'm crazy, maybe I don't get it, which is entirely possible, but...fuck, I just could not get there.

#12 disposes of another #1. In fact, all 3 of its top 10s are top 5s. 5 more top 18s. This spent almost every movement in the top 10.

Aw, I was kind of rooting for this.
Pretty surprised it was almost in the top ten the entire time, but I wouldn't have been against it.

#11 is only 1 point behind #10. It's also tied with "Big Love". The tie was broken not by the highest ranking, nor the second highest, or even the third....but by the 4th highest ranking.

I did not expect this song to peform so well. It was kind of an afterthought addition that came as a result of me thinking, "people love the Hotline Miami soundtracks, right? Is there anything from those I can use here?" My condolences, American Idiot 11

I guess this is revenge for "Your Love".
This song's energy could power cities by itself. It is immense.
(Also, as I mentioned to gates, this was not a discovery. I swear, I've heard it before, and Hotline Miami was not involved.)

Late but I’m not too surprised to see Planet Rock out early. I thought of including it in my rankdown (which I need to update and extend again) but I felt like it probably wasn’t liked as much from the majority and could have got a few high ranks and the rest all low. Btw I think that I discovered Planet Rock a while back from gates as well if I remember correct.

Say it louder for the people in the back. :sip2: That said, 'Liquorice' does still go hard and f**k Azealia Banks again for that earworm. (So we're clear, I DID rank 'Pineapple Crush' and not 'Liquorice', she just made a good track out of that instrumental.)

I heard this Candi Station remix before I heard Knuckles’ original. I fell for it and the way it was used in this film in an instant. I used the Layercake version because it’s this specific 'Original bootleg remix' that I think is top notch and it doesn't seem to be anywhere else on YT or Spotify atm. After falling for this one I grew to enjoy the original more.

Big Love - Pete Heller This is what joy sounds like and I like your description above, one of my all time faves.
Global Communication was my favourite discovery. It’s absorbing and sounds so much like Tangerine Dream’s, Love On A Real Train - what’s up with that?
As for the Future Sound of London , it was 1991 and nothing sounds dated.

#rigged #gatesisahackfraudhost. But seriously. Any of my top 3 could've been my #1. "Your Love" was the first I ruled out. In the comparison with my #2, I couldn't say which one was definitively better, so my reasoning was, I felt it would be unfair for two Chicago house tracks to be in my top 3 and neither be my #1 (also it's likely my favorite subgenre, soooo). 10

Don't get me wrong, this song still kicks ass. I just couldn't think of any song I could whole-heartedly put under it in my own ranking. But yea, this being in the rankdown is basically my nod to Big Beat outside of the main FBS/TCB/TP trio (all of whom also made the top 10, wow), plus a little to jazz crossovers too (though there'll probably be some nu jazz in Part 2 anyway). My condolences, Az Paynter 8

This was actually pretty damn good, just a slightly weird fit in this rankdown.
