#36 of Montreal - Nickee Coco and the Invisible Tree
Chosen By: @chroniclea Genre: Indie Pop Year: 1999
Points: 346 SD: 11.4525938
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: This is fascinatingly weird, though it sure did take a while to really kick into gear. shazam: this was super weird, but i loved it because it's the type of weird i love

This was weird, but I think in a rankdown like this, it was hard for me to put it higher.

#35 alt-J - Breezeblocks
Chosen By: MoD Genre: Indie Pop Year: 2012
Points: 360 SD: 14.58178903 (HIGHEST)
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: Admit it, you guys thought this would be my last place, given how I've talked about it in the past. Looking back, it's not that bad. I'll just never be able to get into it, really. shazam: yeah, this is by far my least favorite single on An Awesome Wave. other singles like Tessellate would've competed for my top 10

Thoughts from the Hosts Red: Before you panic, gates, I think you'll like how I treated the other one more. shazam: Magma and Zeuhl as a whole are a part of music i'm not very familiar with, but this was pretty solid. might need to give it more chances to click

#32 Tommy Guerrero - Organism
Chosen By: lyhom Genre: Downtempo Year: 2003
Points: 404 SD: 11.60993007
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: I expected to like this a decent amount more than I did. I still grooved to it, but...yeah, this rankdown was cruel at times. shazam: pretty easy to win me over with some silky smooth downtempo

Downtempo is a genre I don't mind at all, it's just in rankdowns, I tend to just see them as forgettable even when I like them for the most part.

#31 Rammstein - Ohne dich
Chosen By: janinho Genre: Neue Deutsche Härte Year: 2004
Points: 411 SD: 11.55236525
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: I knew it was too good to be true when it was out of the bottom 20 entirely, but I was hoping it would defy fate and escape the first set. It came closer than I would have expected going in, I suppose. shazam: Rammstein are a bit hit or miss for me... this is a little bit more miss than hit :/ Web host tension

I wanted to rank this one higher than I did, but something just felt missing in this for me that I couldn't pinpoint.

{People with a Most Likely Reasonable Excuse for Not Sending} rainie y'all put too much faith in me okay but in all seriousness i'm sorry for not sending in my list! i started a new job fairly recently which i've been busy with and honestly in general i've been trying to spend less time on the internet and more time working on myself. that said i should have at least like. told y'all that i probably wouldn't have time for a list (or not participated in this to begin with). anyways, i'm still casually following along! happy to see both of my songs still in, not sure how much longer that'll last but i do think Exit Music in particular could be a top 10 dark horse. we'll see though!

Here let me catch up on reveals, I always mean to do that (and inevitably do it just the first set of reveals and forget to do the rest whoops)
#44: Limerent Death - Not the best Dilinger song, but I enjoy it, I think I charted it a couple years ago. Didn't deserve *last* place I don't think, but this whole set is good, don't dislike anything here really, so guess something's gotta be last.
#43: Labyrinth - This is a bit corny maybe, the band's aesthetic definitely is, but I quite liked this song. One of my favorite discoveries of this round.
#42: All My Best Friends Are Metalheads - This was uh fine. I've heard better from Less Than Jake though, not all that memorable, but not bad.
#41: Everything Sucks - Just in general, I've never been too hot on Reel Big Fish. It's fine, wouldn't give it lower than a 6/10, don't really want to return to it.
#40: Generation Why - Ah, guy in the music video rocking that wannabe emo hair but with a hairline that just makes it look sad. Embarrassingly relatable. This was okay, but I feel I should like it more, not a huge fan of the vocals. Would listen to more by this band though.
#39: Find a Way - I have no opinion on Safetysuit. Liked this one a bit more than the other though, generally listenable, not very memorable.
#38: Annie - See above.
#37: Balancing in the Dark - Ah now this was a very nice first listen. I charted a song by Rolo Tomassi a couple years ago and don't remember it being so heavy? Cool discovery.
#36: Nickee Coco and the Invisible Tree - I usually appreciate Of Montreal. Haven't listened to much of their older stuff though. This was uh especially weird, but it had its moments, I'd go back and listen to this full album.
#35: Breezeblocks - Aw Breezeblocks deserved better. Not unexpected though.
#34: The Way You Were - Love this whole album, but I've submitted Dark End Road in some previous tournament, so wanted to use something different. Can see this one being not quite as immediate as Dark End Road or Ride (which maybe I should've submitted, I realized after the fact), but it's just so smooth and relaxing and nostalgic.
#33: K.A. 1 - These Zeuhl songs were pretty cool sounding to a point, but they kinda went on too long. The bass on this one was pretty great though.
#32: Organism - Realizing now, why don't I listen to more downtempo than I do. I really enjoyed this and I always really dig this aesthetic. Very good discovery.
#31: Ohne Dich - I've never fully gotten the appeal of Rammstein. This was okay enough though.

At least I survived the first night of reveals. #44. The Dillinger Escape Plan - Limerent DeathI never heard of Mathcore, but it just didn't equal to the rock vibe I like. I did enjoy the screaming tho. #43. Oomph! - LabyrinthI didn't even know what the guy was singing, but I did enjoy this Rammstein vibe a lot more. Couldn't sit still during the chorus. Also I thought the band was Labyrinth and the song "Oomph"#42. Less Than Jake - A ll My Best Friends Are MetalheadsOh what a shame. I like Skapunk. #41. Reel Big Fish - Everything SucksEvery thing sucks indeed. Some people are just missing that neuron in their brain that makes them wanna crave fun music. These last two were such bangers. I just wanted to get up and hop on one leg while the songs were playing. #40. Kisschasy - Generation WhyPoprock usually makes my top 20. It could have used a tad more melody. maybe some more lalala's. #39. SafetySuit - Find a WayBoth SafetySuit songs were top 30 worthy. I'm just glad the more uptempo one is higher. #38. SafetySuit - AnnieWell at least it shows up one point higher. #37. Rolo Tomassi - Balancing the DarkI mean there were some cool screams, but I couldn't sum up the rest of the song. I totally failed math in high school. #36. of Montreal - Nickee Coco and the Invisible TreeI didn't know what was going on or what to do with the song? I was literally just waiting for someone to say "i buried paul..." #35. alt-J - BreezeblocksI have always hated this song....and I'm glad I'm not the only one. #34. Lowlights - The Way You WereI failed to get that 38 Special Southern Rock vibe from this jam. #33. Magma - K.A. 1This one falls right were it should. At least it kept me guessing as far as music and melodies go. #32. Tommy Guerrero - OrganismTo be honest the beat wasn't terrible but it never evolved into anything more than that beat. Also WTF is Soul Food Taqueria? #31. Rammstein - Ohne dichAs far as Rammstein songs go this one wasn't all that enticing, but it's still top 20 worthy in my book.

#30 The Associates - Club Country
Chosen By: Red Genre: New Wave Year: 1982
Points: 422 SD: 9.538892818 (5TH LOWEST)
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: I figured this wouldn't do particularly well due to the vocals being an acquired taste. This song is just wild. There's so much going on that it's overwhelming to the senses, and, if you know me, you know that I just live for those kinds of songs. shazam: Web host tension [2], this was pretty good but hard to put higher on this list

#29 No Vacation - Yam Yam
Chosen By: Geometrical Genre: Indie Pop Year: 2017
Points: 422 SD: 9.458178623 (4TH LOWEST)
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: I probably should have ranked this a little lower, if we're being honest. I should have swapped it with a song I ranked a little lower that hasn't shown up yet. Don't get me wrong, though, this is pretty damn decent. shazam: certainly very enjoyable indie pop, might need to give it more listens to click with
