Doused is so good, I had forgotten about that song. Hearing it in this rankdown inspired me to pick up the guitar for the first time in like, a year, that riff is great

#12 Bag Raiders - Shooting Stars
Chosen By: wheatsquares33 Genre: Indie Rock Year: 2009
Points: 498 SD: 12.71298089 (9TH HIGHEST)
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: Holy crap, a perfecto, it finally happened. This was decidedly not the song I was expecting to get a perfecto with, either, but two last place rankings made sure that would be the case. This is so much more than the memes. shazam: good song

That hook is great. But that's pretty much all there is to the song.

#11 They Might Be Giants - Don't Let's Start
Chosen By: janinho Genre: Alternative Rock Year: 1986
Points: 530 SD: 10.02161407
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: So I should probably check out more They Might Be Giants songs. I've really liked (almost) every song I've heard from them, and this is one of the best I've heard yet. shazam: yeah this was my favorite thing i've heard from TMBG

#20. From Indian Lakes - The MonsterThis was better than I expected. Kinda like "Clean Eyes" from SYML. Even the vocals too. Even the MV reminded me of some Moth and The Flame video. I liked it, but the rest of the songs were either classics or even better first time listens. #19. The White Stripes - Ball and BiscuitI would normally put White Stripes higher. Jack's vocal delivery really didn't work for me this time. #18. Magna Carta Cartel - Valiant Visions DawnDidn't really feel this mellow Indierock vibe here, but what really tuned me out was the vocals. Too Too Soft for me. #17. The Shins - Turn On MeThis is about the turn where a bunch of songs I ranked in my 30's range start showing up. It happens every time. This was decent for its pleasant melody i guess. #16. Rainbow - Stargazer Gonna quote shazamman again "this ruled". 'nuff said. #15. X - Los AngelesI put this pretty low considerdering it's classic Punk which means I really liked this round of picks. #14. Eliza & The Delusionals - Just ExistNot too terrible for female sung Indierock. Her vocals were the best aspect. #13. DIIV - DousedDamn! Another of my first time listen, top 10 worthy songs, falls. I don't know about you guys, but I got some Bloc Party vibes, which would explain my rank. #12. Bag Raiders - Shooting StarsI enjoyed this one more than I thought I would. A little of Capital Cities before they overpopped their sound, and The 80's style vocals tones worked wonders while listening to the song. #11. They Might Be Giants - Don't Let's StartAnother victim of "the much better songs to play with on the list" Syndrome. It's fun and classic status, and started off in my top 10.....until.... *Too many of the same faces in the top 10. Are we scared to take chances on other bands? >:( Anyway, I still have two tops 10's. I just hope they best out my bottom two leftovers.

there are 4 songs that made the Top10 that do not belong...many of which made it based on the band's stature alone from what i can tell

#10 Iggy Pop - Lust for Life
Chosen By: Daryl the Beryl Genre: Garage Rock Year: 1977
Points: 542 SD: 9.329573177 (8TH LOWEST)
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: It's really this or "The Passenger" for the title of "Best Iggy Pop Song". shazam: one of Iggy's best, glad we finally got around to ranking this

#9 White Lies - Death
Chosen By: maine Genre: Post-Punk Revival Year: 2009
Points: 568 SD: 9.079248236 (7TH LOWEST)
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: "To Lose My Life" is better. shazam: White Lies never disappoint (at least from what i've heard so no one makes a fucking Megadeth thing again)

I thought this would be the first of mine to go.
Splendid song. I just love the buildup of this track, and it just absolutely explodes once it hits that climax. Great, great song.

#8 Alvvays - Adult Diversion
Chosen By: willapted33 Genre: Jangle Pop Year: 2014
Points: 573 SD: 10.65240274
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: I am just making a *bunch* of friends here. I would say that, despite the mere two spot difference, there's a little bit of a gap in quality between this and "Death", though. shazam: one of the finest dream pop groups of the past decade, love this one

#7 The Smiths - Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now
Chosen By: willapted33 Genre: Jangle Pop Year: 1984
Points: 579 SD: 9.03922576 (6TH LOWEST)
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: This was a supremely tough cut from my top ten. This is peak Smiths, and there's only a couple of Smiths songs that I would have ranked higher here. shazam: definitely up there with my favorite Smiths songs, especially love the guitarwork

#6 Queens of the Stone Age - A Song for the Deaf
Chosen By: rainie Genre: Alternative Metal Year: 2002
Points: 591 SD: 11.5320555
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: At its best, Songs for the Deaf is just massive, and few songs illustrate that better than "A Song for the Deaf". The riffs here are evil in all of the best ways. shazam: absolutely sinister sounding, imo Songs for the Deaf is an absolute must listen, and on certain days, this is the best one on the album

#5 Bloc Party - Little Thoughts
Chosen By: maine Genre: Post-Punk Revival Year: 2005
Points: 595 SD: 6.464025505 (2ND LOWEST)
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: There will be no repeat at the top for Bloc Party, but I'd say a top five finish for a Silent Alarm song that isn't "Banquet", "Helicopter", or "Like Eating Glass" is a pretty decent accomplishment. As for what I think, it's Silent Alarm-era Bloc Party. What do you think? shazam: Silent Alarm is a fantastic album, and while this isn't one of my absolute favorites on the album, it just missed my top 10. shows how great the album is

It takes a looooooooot for me to put a Silent Alarm track (expect for maybe "Price Of Gas" and "Positive Tension") outside my top 10. But holy s**t, top 4 is my top 4

#4 Siouxsie and the Banshees - Spellbound
Chosen By: Geometrical Genre: Post-Punk Year: 1981
Points: 599 SD: 9.923980054
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: Red put Siouxsie and the Banshees in his top ten, whaaaaaaat shazam: i'll be honest, i haven't really gotten too into the Siouxsie hype. this one sure is damn good, though
