10. Yazoo - SituationThis is an 80's Synthpop classic. Straight V.I.B in my top 10. This one, Don't Go, and "Only You" which surprisingly enough is my favorite of the Yazzoo hits. BTW, this band like T rans -X just kept re releasing and rehashing their big hits in the 90's as well. 9 .Grimes - OblivionThis was o.k. kinda like modern synthpop. I was a bit tuned out by the tones her vocals take sometimes. The synths were the strong aspect of the song. 8. Clan Of Xymox - ObsessionWas not expecting this one out this soon. I have to say that even tho it made the top 10 its still out too early. This was surely my favorite song in the RD that wasn't my submission. 7. Kent - 747 (We Ran Out of Time) LOL! How many shoegaze songs did you guys submit? This song was ok. I like the kinda "With Or Without You" vibe this had. Needed Bono's vocals for me to rank higher. 6. Drab Majesty - Dot in the SkyA lot of you have been charting this act. They fall into that new Retro Wave New Wave genre that is taking YOUTUBE by storm. The thing I really enjoyed about this song is the lead singer actually has those 80's New Wave tones. Have you guys seen this performance? It's like Ghost goes Dark Synthpop. 5. My Bloody Valentine - Only ShallowI didn't know this song fell into Shoegaze. I mean it does have that Smashing Pumpkins shoe gazing vibe. I like the harder guitar parts the best of course, but its still top 20 worthy. Looks the actual best one beats the other two. 4. My Bloody Valentine - When You SleepEasily the one I loved the best. So uptempo and the dual vocals are really what helped it catch a slot in my top 10. I never realized how much this band sounds like Smashing Pumpkins. 3. The Beatles - I Want You (She's So Heavy) I guess it doesn't surprise that this is my submission. I don't submit Beatles too often in tournamets, but Heavy Metal Beatles is a different story. This is truly my favorite song from the RD, and I really had my hopes that this would win. It's quite easily one of my favorites from the band. Sometimes "Strawberry Fields Forever", but it someone asks me on the spot. I always say this song. BTW the Bee Gees, and Peter Frampton did a fine cover the Movie version too. The bonus for me were the praises from our two hosts. I can't take credit for the song ,but damn those nice words felt good. 2. The Cure - A ForestThis was my favorite from the two remaining songs. Its all about the combination of music and vocals. This is also huge down here so don't be too surprised I gave it top 5 action. #1. Echo and the Bunnymen - The Killing MoonThis has never really been one of my favorite Echo and The Bunnymen songs, but it's still 80's, has great vocals, so why complain.

We're a week away from the (probably) set deadline. We only have a couple of submissions, not including those of the co-hosts, and I know that most of you participated in every seed, so...

I'm probably not going to be able to submit until Monday at the earliest. That's the soonest I'll have 1) consistent Internet with my laptop, and 2) enough uninterrupted time to make a rankdown list.

I just realized that the deadline for this is the same day as Alt 1988 in the games forum. Oh boy.

No new submissions in the last 24+ hours. But hey, at least I finished a passion project today that I should have finished months ago, so there's that, right?

That last threat seemed to do the trick, as we had a wave of submissions last night. Perhaps I should make dad threats more often.

I feel like I'm already kind of taking a bit of a break from Pulse, but I can't take a break from this. We have to see this through.

The only other posters who might submit for the final told me and shazam that they're probably not submitting, so I feel confident enough to say that we are closed for submissions.
Buckle up, folks. These results are something else.

Hey guys! It's the other host. Before we start reveals, I wanted to give a shoutout to Lordeftones and Anna. Lord had 2 songs make finals, and Anna had a whopping 5 songs make the finals. However, neither of them sent for any of the 4 seeds, or the finals. I get things come up, but it's very irritating to see 7 out of the 40 songs in the finals be from posters who decided to bail out after sending songs. I really get why the main madness hosts (Az, James, and Samo) get really fed up with this now. Next time, just reconsider sending songs in the first place.
In all seriousness, big thanks to Rowell and alexcuse, though, who didn't send any songs but still sent for at least one of the rankdowns (all five, in Rowell's case!). Glad to see other people enjoying the lists, because these rankdowns were stacked. Reveals will begin shortly...

Try this on an even larger scale. This was my biggest complaint of hosting these. It's just so frustrating because these people are just seemingly wasting your time by sending in songs for you to listen to and not doing the same for you.

yeah I didn't send for the finals since I just haven't felt like making a rankdown list for a while (even ones like this where I've heard every song) and since I don't have a song in the finals I didn't really feel as much of a responsibility to send, but it also wouldn't have been fun having to deal with ranking the two songs sent in by someone who made literally zero effort to send

I think this might be the worst Brand New song I've heard. It's still decent, but nothing close to their best.

Brand New has always been pretty average with a few highlights. This isn't one of the latter.

did Green Baron ruin Brand New for you guys or??? I like "Limousine", but it's one of many Brand New songs that have been affected by someone associated with the band.
And I'm not referring to him, either.
