#37 Soen - River
Chosen By: janinho Points: 298 SD: 9.384130474
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: I'm not surprised in the slightest that this is bottom ten. This is different than what I was expecting from Soen, but it was good all the same. shazam: i've heard a lot of Soen through exposure from friends, and from what i had heard i don't think they were my thing. however, i definitely think this is the best thing i've heard from them, just tough to matchup with the whole list :/

I have no idea what could transpire from this rankdown. I presume On the Floor, Runner, and Future Love are top five locks. Not sure what else to expect.

Thoughts from the Hosts Red: I thought this was a lot of fun, and it's nearly in my bottom ten. RMD has decided to live up to its soul-crushing reputation. shazam: i've enjoyed this era for AWOL, but it's hard to live up to some of their earlier stuff. this was definitely wild and another solid one from Aaron, though

#35 Mallrat - Charlie
Chosen By: Beno Points: 304 SD: 10.88861354
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: Thankfully, I'm past the point where snaps in a song greatly irritate me, but I still think that songs would be better off without them, including this one. It takes a decent song and derails it for me fairly immediately. But that's just my dumb ass who thinks that way, don't mind me. shazam: Mallrat is the type of indie pop i need in my life sometimes, this was solid stuff for sure

#34 BAYNK - Water
Chosen By: Beno Points: 319 SD: 10.32288258
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: To be fair to you, Beno, unlike "Charlie", I feel like I underranked this. That could just be me trying to justify a "one off", but seriously, once you get past a certain point in my bottom five, this ranking gets surprisingly tough surprisingly quickly. shazam: i echo Red in saying i underranked this, i really liked the production on this and i've come back to it a couple times since making my list, real good stuff

#33 Chicano Batman - Blank Slate
Chosen By: Lordef†ones Points: 321 SD: 11.91697469 (5th HIGHEST)
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: Case in point, "Blank Slate", which I also liked. Weird that this has one of the highest standard deviations, but sure, okay. shazam: i've heard Chicano Batman a good bit on XMU and they honestly seem like a cool band, and this definitely proved that idea. i guess this is where the reveals start to hurt lol

Thoughts from the Hosts Red: We have had THREE poster clearances tonight. Jesus. Here's another one that I liked and I wonder if I could have ranked it higher. Dammit. shazam: like Chicano Batman, heard these guys on XMU a good bit. really solid stuff, they're def a group i should dig into more

Thoughts from the Hosts Red: This was my original #40 because I just didn't feel anything when listening to it whatsoever. I went back and listened to it again, and I couldn't justify putting it at the very bottom, because it's certainly better than that. shazam: these cute 80s throwback tunes have been really cool this seed, even if i couldn't put this higher than i did :/

Well, the bottom 10 went about as good as it could've. 7 bottom 10s down and no top 20s!
Now watch my songs be #30 and #29

#40. jonatan leandoer96 - Evil Boredom was holing me back. Obviuosly I wasn't gonna dig this vibe, but I kinda thought some of you would keep in longer. Not complaining tho.
#39. Dreamcatcher - Endless Night I love that this song is in here. I'm wondering what you guys would do if I submitted female cranking J-Metal sung in English like this. BTW it blows away every song on the Active chart right now.
#38. Heartbones - Open Relations This is one of those songs that would have worked a lot better without a music video. I love the music, because it reminded me of Phases, but the guy doing vocals was kinda creepy looking. Not Cool Joe Spinell creepy, but more like Ron Jeremy creepy.
#37. Soen - River I kinda appreciated this for its ballad vibe. It stayed away from ugly effects, but also this band struck me as one that usually does some sort of Metal, but decided to put out a ballad. Am I right?
#36. AWOLNATION - Mayday!!! Fiesta Fever I was never an AWOLNATION fan. This one sounds way hokier the second time around. Another one that didn't need a music video.
#35. Mallrat - Charlie Quite a few great entries where I could appreciate at least a few elements of each song. I probably would have tanked this if sung by a male, but with female vocals it just kinda worked. I think it had to do a lot with her accent ,but I also really liked the harmony laced backups. I think its her singing all the parts too.
#34. BAYNK - Water What this song really needed was faster BPMs. I swear the speed here is what tanked it for me. I speeded it up to 1.25 and it sounded much more enticing, but I ranked it at its normal speed. Sorry.
#33. Chicano Batman - Blank Slate I really dug this one. Can't recall but it reminded me of another song. I also feel like viewing the music video makes seem more catchier too.
#32. The DistrictTwelve 🍁 s - Hey Jo Is that their new name? What's with the golden shamrock? Or is that a leaf. This song was sort of just there for me. It almost sounded like if Modest Mouse decided to do forgettable radio friendly indiepop? Maybe with a few added bpms?
#31. Hunny f/ Bleached - Saturday Night I'm surprised this gets a bottom ten. It might be tooooo retro for some I guess? This band is pretty popular down here among the goth kids. Its probably because of the Cure vibe. I heard it at a club and fell head over heals with the 80's throwback sound. I love the line about "your Echo, I'm The Bunnyman" even if it makes no sense, and I love the Bleached cameo.

WOW I ALMOST DIDN'T LOSE A BOTTOM TEN.
Well fuck my songs I guess though admittedly this was a tough list. Unfortunately I don't have any surefire hits to come in future lists (a la After Hours/Protection) so I may be left out of the finals entirely.

I suppose I'm not all that surprised to see both of my songs gone already, I actually expected BAYNK to finish lower than Mallrat but I absolutely get where the tanks were coming from for both songs. I love "Charlie" it didn't hit me right when it came out but it's one of my favourite songs at the moment. "Water" is a really cool song, although it admittedly has cooled on me a bit, to the point where I kinda wish I chose something else over it. I'm glad some of you guys liked it though!
As for some (incredibly late) winner predictions, I can see Tennis and The Strokes battling it out for #1, with Perfume Genius, Ride and maybe even The New Pornographers as dark horse picks to upset them.
