I figured "Endless Night" would have a rough outing especially with every song here being so good. I feared that my other pick would also end up in the bottom 10 so I'm happy to see it's still in the mix even though I doubt it will last much longer.

#40: Evil - Oh I didn't realize this was Yung Lean. I did kinda like this, very smooth and atmospheric, just way too short. I still ranked it at #26, but if it were a fully formed song I could've placed it higher.
#39: Endless Night - Blehhh hate that this finished so low, though I can't say I'm surprised :\ I don't listen to much k-pop, but this was a really cool discovery.
#38: Open Relations - This finished way too low too! I've had this one bubbling under my personal chart for weeks. I mean, I don't *love* it, but I do like it enough to chart it at least, has nice bass grooves.
#37: The River - Wasn't expecting to see Soen here. I really like uhh Savia from their 2012 album. This one was fine, but it didn't really click with me. Did like it more towards the end though.
#36: Mayday (Fiesta Fever) - Blehh yeah this is really the only song in this rankdown I wouldn't say I liked. Awolnation just haven't been doing too much for me lately.
#35: Charlie - This one's nice, I like Groceries a lot more, but it's still pleasant. I like the sound of her voice.
#34: Water - I do really like the synth tones on this one, but I just don't care much for the vocal performance at all, and it just ultimately feels like the song doesn't go anywhere.
#33: Blank Slate - This is fine, just some kinda catchy if indistinct indie pop, do like some of the quirky instrumental bits though.
#32: Hey Jo - I think I originally had this pretty low on my list, but I revisited it a few times before sending and it grew on me a lot. Very pleasant, love the chorus, sounds kinda Arcade Fire-y. Charting this one now.
#31: Saturday Night - This is okay, I like the sound this song is going for, I just don't really care much for the vocals and think the hook could be stronger

#30 Balthazar - Entertainment
Chosen By: @bobpatience Points: 341 SD: 11.85286785 (6th HIGHEST)
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: I actually kind of forgot about this song. Listening to it again, I both understand why shazam ranked it last and why it escaped my bottom ten. My annoyance is snaps, his annoyance is whistling. We all have something. shazam: this seed was super strong, so pretty much the only reason this ended up as my #40 was the whistling, fine song nonetheless

#29 Jack Stauber's Micropop - Dinner Is Not Over
Chosen By: singingrulebritannia Points: 341 SD: 12.84875388 (3rd HIGHEST)
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: This song is fascinating, for multiple reasons. It's not just the music, though I can't recall hearing too many songs like it. The message of the song is surprisingly deep, given what the song sounds like. It actually fits the music well. If anything, I'm wondering if I put this too low. shazam: this was wild, can't say i've really heard anything like this before. it didn't click quite as much as other stuff i've heard from Stauber though :/ maybe it requires more listens?

#28 Muzz - Bad Feeling
Chosen By: willapted33 Points: 344 SD: 10.74930784
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: I sense a pattern with your picks here, Will. Maybe I'm silly to think this, but this reminded me a bit of the really good side of Lord Huron, and I dug it for that reason alone. shazam: pretty hard to go wrong with Paul Banks, especially when the damn drummer from The Walkmen is on this track. considering that duo, i do wish this packed a bit more of a punch. can't deny my love for both of those bands though

#27 Enter Shikari - The Great Unknown
Chosen By: rowellfarm490 Points: 345 SD: 12.39181758 (4th HIGHEST)
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: I really expected to like this. I've heard good things about Enter Shikari, and what I've heard about them suggested that I would like their music. For some reason, though, this just didn't click with me. I need to pick another time to check these guys out. I should be totally all about this band. shazam: i actually listened to Enter Shikari quite a bit a few years ago, but i had completely forgotten about them, cool to see them get picked here! definitely enjoyed this

#26 Lonely the Brave - Bound
Chosen By: wheatsquares33 Points: 382 SD: 8.582651383 (5th LOWEST)
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: This was actually a song that I was sort of dreading to listen to, because man, it's hard for me to separate the band from their previous singer, especially on "Black Mire". I'm glad I did hear this song, though, because it convinced me that I should give their most recent record with the new singer a chance. shazam: haven't heard too much from Lonely the Brave, but what i have heard has all been quite good

If I had made the edits to my list I wanted to make, Bound wouldn't be in my top ten. Definitely prefer the Black Mire singer.

#25 Sports Team - Here's the Thing
Chosen By: BlurryKyle Points: 388 SD: 11.809399 (7th HIGHEST)
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: Here's another song that I was torn on where to rank it. I should have been all about this song, but it seemed to never get out of second gear for me. I have a distinct feeling that I'll like it more with more listens, though. shazam: man, this was super cool. in a way, i got Parquet Courts vibes from this, definitely a track i want to come back to soon

#24 Caribou - You and I
Chosen By: peacebone Points: 395 SD: 13.1134246 (2nd HIGHEST)
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: I've determined that I may not be the biggest fan of Caribou, though I can't say that I've disliked anything I've heard from them. I'm not sure why this has the second highest SD, but okay, sure...or what shazam is about to say. shazam: ...2nd highest SD? aight then, Caribou have been very consistently good from the little i've heard from them, but this makes me want to check out more from them for sure

Even when attempting a more typical 'synthpop' track Caribou can't help but get peculiar with the production

#23 Black Dresses - CREEP U
Chosen By: @chroniclea Points: 413 SD: 11.6975781
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: The ending saved this song from being lower in my ranking. Really interesting stuff. I just wish the entire song was like the ending portion. shazam: it's a shame what's been happening to Black Dresses lately, and i hope Devi is doing ok. honestly, i expected myself to dig this a little more than i actually did, maybe it needs more harsh industrial sections for me :kii:
