I don't think the holiday songs' airplay points will be that high, given it's just three days of mass airplay (Monday-Wednesday). The radio tracking week just amplifies how Billboard’s H100 rules are arbitrary. Even labels do deals on Friday to launch a new track, but it certainly doesn’t have chart impact for the track’s first true week, because the airplay launch is bundled with previous week’s streams/sales. Regarding future holiday chart action, next year Xmas falls on Friday because of Leap Year. While Xmas on a Thursday clearly would be the ultimate max for streaming, that week should be incredibly solid. Streaming/sales through 24th and with 5 days of holiday airplay. The airplay tracking week has never ever made sense... at all, lol. I believe Billboard said its different because the airplay numbers come from Nielsen's own tracking, unlike sales/streams coming from retailers reporting, so they're able to get every radio station's information for the past week within hours versus having to wait a few days for all sales/streams info to roll in. However that still just doesn't seem logical imo. That's like streaming having a separate tracking week than album sales on Billboard 200. Every component should fall under the same tracking period.

I will be honest, I prefer Rolling Stone's chart methology. The only thing that Billboard has over Rolling Stone's charts, is history.

I don't see a problem with new songs debuting high is they have the sales and streams to debut high. The radio problem could always be solved by removing the radio component from the HOT 100 chart. I used to be a big fan of the UK charts ... until they came up with the ACR rules. Some mild re-current rules would do the trick, but a system where the #1 song can be put on ACR because it's slowly declining and losing the #1 position to some other song that is still less popular just doesn't make sense. All I want are charts with fair and sensible rules. Why is this so hard to achieve? Rolling Stone is leading the way right now

Since the parent of Billboard, Valencia Media now officially owns Nielsen Music, I don't see why they won't have the ability to have quicker access to component data and avoid some of the fiascos that have happened before then.

The New Zealand charts are perfect in my opinion Australia has great charts too (minus 21 weeks and counting for Dance Monkey at #1) I'm a big fan of the Canadian Hot 100. Aside from a few bizarre taste differences (Magic! was actually huge there) it's mostly solid stuff. Blinding Lights is at #9, Lover made it onto last year's year-end, and Lalala was a top 10 hit

Billboard's biggest problem is their album chart which is ridiculous and inaccurate with those bundles

It's biggest problem imo are those dumb UGC views that they count Billboard's biggest problem is their album chart which is ridiculous and inaccurate with those bundles exactly. I remember the week summer walker debuted at 2 with the biggest streaming week for an r&b album ever and was blocked by a k pop guy/band (that released mid week) because of f**king bundles and the next week dropped to like below the top 60. Bundles just make the whole bb200 totally inaccurate

Once u listen to it, u get the tune stuck in your head and its one of my favorite christmas songs it would have made it there already if this was a "hot 100 songs" chart but it has so many distinct covers that steal away Wham!'s thunder. I prefer the original, then Ariana Grande's cover, then Carly Rae's.

A lot of interesting things to happen in the next 2 weeks on the charts 1. Crazy new peaks for Christmas songs this week 2. Some surprise songs that go recurrent this week 3. The following week having new peaks for most of the hot 100 like the box, dance monkey, Roxanne etc.

These are by far the highest covers of a 'classic' Xmas radio songs, with the former passing the version most heard on radio. I wonder as the years pass if AC radio will start to shift more spins from the 'classic' versions to Bublé's versions. Of course, Bublé's high stream count could be heavily influenced by placement in Spotify's playlists.

Senor Bublé's global power is crazy- per Kworb, he even had more points than the Queen of Christmas.
As for the radio tracking week- the official streaming/sales data supposedly takes more time to compile, whereas the airplay info is available quicker. That's the rationale- whether it's logical or not, well, that's debatable.

Even though Christmas is over, the worst ain't over yet. The charts have to go through year-end countdowns, which I dislike more than Christmas season because it gives some songs a second wind like Girls Like You last year.
