I'm sure part of Yummy's bombing is because of the situation with Iran taking pretty much everyone's mind off of new music for the moment. The thing is, songs with tepid debuts become hits all the time, but this song is so viscerally hated that I don't see it catching on organically even in spite of these low numbers. Justin needs to come CORRECT with that second single (get a Post feature if you want to be safe) because if it also bombs, then his career will start looking dead in the water. It also doesn't help that Selena wrote one of the most critically-acclaimed pop songs of 2019 about their relationship for him to only try and outshine her by releasing a single a week before her album drop called "Yummy" with one of the most immature lyrics by a lead artist in a long time.

eh. jay z's "the blueprint"'s release and the 9/11 attacks happened on the same day and he still debuted at #1 on the BB200 with 427k, which was pretty big for a rap album (the biggest week for a rap album in 01 was 440k for DMX's "The Great Depression"). i don't think the Iran bombings is a good excuse lol True, I'm just trying to figure out a concrete reason why the comeback single from such a huge artist couldn't even debut with over 2 million streams (something that even Lil Uzi Vert, a substantially smaller artist, managed to do), but there it might not be so simple. Maybe he poisoned the well by previewing the song early and causing everyone to reach the verdict that it was gonna be trash before it even came out. It's a combination of Bieber fatigue and general realization that the song is horrible

A part of me wishes that "Friends" was released yesterday, instead of "Yummy", so that it could've served as the lead single for Justin's upcoming album. Since that's an actual good song by him.

I really don't think it has anything to do with Selena. Most people don't care about that kind of stuff. I'm also not sure if it even has to do with the quality of the song because ME! was widely panned upon release but still debuted with 3.5 million streams. Maybe Bieber just lost his dedicated following in the years between Purpose and now and we just haven't noticed because his last few hits have been bland wallpaper music that was never in danger of flopping (IDC, 10,000 Hours).

word of mouth is spreading and everyone's like "don't listen to yummy, it's ass"
this new album is likely going to be Bieber's Man Of The Woods

I hope Ballin isnt the reason The Box hasn't been sent to radio yet, the song has been on an upward climb for a month now, time for it to impact radio. I feel like it doesn’t even need radio rn for it to be a hit. When the box looks like its being shaky, then the radio feels like the backup

All these think pieces lol. The average person doesn’t care about Bieber & Selena’s relationship in 2020 nor is interested in actively keeping track. If the song was infectious it’d be gaining more traction regardless of how “immature” the lyrics are. It’s kind of a weak comeback choice and maybe his star power has just faded in the years of his break. That’s all there is to the performance so far.

Don't be such a passive aggressive asshole.

But the song's immaturity turns off older listeners and followers (think about how I Don't Care which has more mature lyrics did better). And I do think that the Selena and Justin drama is still a known thing, and I think younger audiences are siding with Selena after she had the ability to respond to Justin's past singles about her. So yes, I am trying to figure out why Justin is doing worse than normal. Excuse me for trying to draw conclusions on how this is possible, but I do think the fact that his looks, touch with public, and past relationships have definitely hindered his appeal to the public.

Lil Uzi Vert has cleared his IG and uploaded what looks like album-related images and his profile pic appears to be cover art. I expect Eternal Atake to drop this friday or the 17th.

I have a PhD in the art of trapology and I can confidently state that "The Box" is one of the greatest trap songs ever made.
-The beat is incredibly unique and interesting without straying too far from what we expect from a great trap song. The "Eee Err" sounds effect is quite idiosyncratic but still complements the rest of the beat quite beautifully (it also allows for possible "memeability"). The strings are dramatic and dynamic, adding suspense to the song without being over-the-top. The trap drums and bass are more standard which allow the song to feature high "bumpability."
-Ricch's delivery is both varied and consistent, creating a satisfying balance for the listener's ear. He occasionally presents unusual inflections which prevent the song from sounding boring and one-dimensional (Future, Migos); however, he also does not get too crazy, which can polarize listeners (Young Thug has struggled with this). Additionally, Mr. Ricch sounds incredibly confident and rides the beat with stunning ease and conviction. He also features intonation and word choice that easily stick in the listener's head without annoying them ("I'mma get lazyyyy").
Hope it goes #1.

I could The Box having Rockstar or Bad and Boujee upside as being a decently strong number one hit in the 40,000 to 50,000 point range.

I think ROXANNE will be blocked from #1 by The Box, Circles will stay in the Top 5 for at least the rest of this month but probably longer. Yummy will debut at #4 or #5 and those are my predictions

Yummy is already sinking. If it keeps going at this rate it'll debut in the 30s

I really like Yummy. Sure it’s repetitive and the lyrics are dumb (“light a match, get litty babe” made me groan so hard) but his voice sounds great and he sounds confident as hell, as well as it being so catchy and I can see it growing on me more than it already has. Hope it does well on the charts.

Dude I don't really listen to much rap, let alone trap rap but... this song literally makes me so hyped. The lyrics are so great and quotable too, I love the intro and the "fuck 12, fuck swat" parts especially.
