I feel like if this is a Filthy/Young and Menace level type of bomb, Bieber and his team will need to do a serious course correct.

Also, he created a TikTok account just to promote the song it seems. This might be a reach, but it's never a good sign when an artist is already doing the most to ensure a song's success as soon as it's released. I still believe in organic success. You can drop lyric and actual music videos, but when you start bundling a hundred random items and doing the most to make your song "appear" to be a hit, it's already done. First off, all those shenanigans never last so at best, you have a week or two before the song falls again. The weeknd did that with heartless and at least it was understandable since blinding lights existed and would’ve overshined it anyday. This ‘yummy’ bs has no excuse besides being underwhelming and cheap

^Maybe so. I think the song will have quite a rough seventh day correction on its radio audience, especially since I'd think radio callout scores will be bad for it. Yesterday at work, people were roasting the living hell out of this song every time it played on radio, so those call-out scores are definitely going to be rough. ⚰️

Just listened to "Yummy" for the first time. It had a promising beginning with the smooth elevator music/ice cream truck jingle, but then the trap beats kick in and we get a Chris Brown reject of all things. The lyrics in the verses are okay - a bit cliché, but passable, and I particularly liked the "I'm elated that you're my lady" line (very sweet). However, the pre-chorus and chorus are really embarrassing - not only we have a grown man using a childish word like 'yummy' in a carnal, salacious context, but he also says 'litty' in an unironic manner 😬
You know, Justin Bieber has been through a lot, from being derided by the world at a very young age for his appearance and singing voice, to his struggles with drugs and depression. I just wish his music touched more on these topics, it would be positive both for himself and for his fanbase. Hopefully his new album will address some of these issues, but we'll have to wait and see, as always.

Blinding Lights’s official audio now has more views than Heartless’s music video.

The Box is up 38.5% on U.S. Spotify this Friday compared to last Friday. It's possibly coming for 50M+ streams this week. Since most of its streams are on-demand streams, if 50M+ is confirmed, it could get 30.000 points from streaming which could alone make it #1 for this week. This makes me wonder when the last time a song hit #1 without any airplay points. Certainly not in the last few years, that’s for sure,

Definitely been a LONG time since a no-airplay song hit #1

Yeah...at least during the first week with OTR as a solo song, I remember it didn't have much backing from radio, but I might be wrong.

The crazy thing is, The Box isn't even an official single from his album. It's not being promoted to radio and no music video as of yet.

I've already heard The Box on Urban stations multiple times. I'm actually surprised it's not even charting at Urban yet. ATL has always been ahead of the curve tho. Old Town Road had 11.9m radio audience its first week at #1, which isn't that low. Highest in the Room had 6.9 million. Sad! topped Hot 100 with 2.9m radio audience, which is the last time a #1 song had practically no audience. (>5 million)

Why isn't urban giving spins to The Box? It's surely a proper hit single now after charting several weeks.
It's also the #1 song on Rap Caviar playlist.

It'd be different it was a major artist at the format like Drake/Kendrick/J. Cole, then it'd be charting there by now. But it's going to eventually get picked up heavily and probably reach #1 there in the next few months regardless.

The crazy thing is, The Box isn't even an official single from his album. It's not being promoted to radio and no music video as of yet. I just love it when this happens! Just shows that the public actually has some power to choose the songs they want as hits, despite the radio payola and manufactured, pandering songs. Also, Roddy will have no choice but to give it a proper single push, which is even better. In a way, this reminds me when Katy Perry was pushing "Unconditionally" as the second single from Prism with little success, only to release "Dark Horse" as a promotional track, and then the public latched on to it and she just had to give it the single push instead, making it the biggest hit of her career chart-wise. For a more recent example, just think about how "Blinding Lights" has been taking over "Heartless" on nearly all mediums, just begging to be the hit it deserves to be. 🙂

I hope Ballin isnt the reason The Box hasn't been sent to radio yet, the song has been on an upward climb for a month now, time for it to impact radio.

I'm sure part of Yummy's bombing is because of the situation with Iran taking pretty much everyone's mind off of new music for the moment. The thing is, songs with tepid debuts become hits all the time, but this song is so viscerally hated that I don't see it catching on organically even in spite of these low numbers. Justin needs to come CORRECT with that second single (get a Post feature if you want to be safe) because if it also bombs, then his career will start looking dead in the water.

This is the perfect opportunity for The Weeknd to promote BL and forget Heartless. Just release the music video and release it on the radio.

Maybe he poisoned the well by previewing the song early and causing everyone to reach the verdict that it was gonna be trash before it even came out.

Yummy as a song is ok . it's the title and the repeat of it that ruins it for me.
