Not if King Roddy has something to say about it. The Box is about to be the Old Town Road of this new year. except it’s boring and doesn’t appeal to the mainstream If enough people thought it was boring, it wouldn't be gaining on streaming the way it has the past few weeks and in a lot of ways, it feels like it's just getting started.

Soon It's the busiest time of the year in terms of new hits so I don't think The Box will get that many weeks at #1. It'll be one of the biggest hits of 2020 for sure though. I think he spends a good 4-6 weeks at #1 easily.

I'm all in for "The Box" smashing but god no, I don't want another 120990 week chart-topper

Sicko Mode got old and annoying for me after like 3 listens. Life Is Good is one of those songs I can play on an endless loop. Really? This is surprising. I just assumed we all loved Sicko Mode.

Okay, multiple people have been getting The Box’s radio situation wrong, I feel the need to explain:
Mediabase’s AI is synthesized based on the reports from the top 50 currents and top 50 recurrents on each of their formats. The Box had airplay last week, it was even reported by Billboard in their top 10 article, it just wasn’t enough to break into any of Mediabase’s lists, it was probably scattered amongst Rhythmic and Urban. This week, it did make top 50 on two formats, allowing those AI to start showing on the dailies and making it look to the layviewer that it’s blowing up extremely fast. Make no mistake, it is gaining notably, this should result in a 100-150% AI gain on the next Billboard chart, but it’s not that they formally sent it or that this is some spontaneous push started this week by the stations.

Hot take: I do not like when songs top the charts for many weeks at a time. The 19 weeks when OTR was on top was very boring, as there was not much to talk about besides OTR for nearly five months. I personally prefer when many songs get a chance at n.1, so I am preparing for the worst with The Box

"Ok, I know ME! failed but this new Sheeran song will definitely do it" "Ok, I know Sheeran failed but this NEW Taylor song can totally stop him" "Ok, I know that Taylor failed again, but this Camilla song will totally definitely stop him" And then in the end it was defeated by a single that debuted low in the top ten in his first week at #1. Yes, I don't want another 500 week #1 but I wouldn't mind another one dominating for 8-12 weeks.

Yeah that was the only joy I got out of those five months, especially that the song to stop it was Bad Guy

Anyone else think Life is Good is just REALLY bad? Also hope the Box gets 4 weeks #1 maximum because long number ones are boring as hell.

If you go back to old Hot 100 threads, you'll find that Old Town Road was supposed to be a quick little meme and free fall as soon as it reaches #1. And we all know how that one ended. I would be more cautious with predictions this time around.

Life is Good is rising fast. Just reached #1 on iTunes and is #9 on Apple Music. It hasn't been out for up to 12 hours yet.

Drake is so generous it's crazy.
All these collabs where he does half the song, or is the CLEAR driving force behind the popularity and he is fine with not being credited as a co-lead.

I mean, he is not on half the song, and since it is a future song he isn't the clear driving force here, and they have made boat loads of collabs before including an entire collab album. I get your point, but Drake is not the driving force here as much as it is a team effort. Also idk if it is being generous, like he is a billionaire and he will get paid boatloads more money for this, he still charges his friends for features. Also he thought he WAS going to be credited for Sicko Mode and wasn't, and I am sure he wishes he was in hindsight since he was in two of the three parts of the song

He is essentially there half the song, you're just looking to argue lmao. And Future hasn't really lit up the charts the past 2 years. He hasn't even had a top 20 as lead artist since 2017. If this song was to go top 20, or top 10, then obviously it stemmed from being a Drake collab. You can say they're a team, but if only one person on the team is able to match similar success on their own then it's not exactly ridiculous to claim they brought the upperhand.

Not if King Roddy has something to say about it. The Box is about to be the Old Town Road of this new year. I wouldn't compare The Box to OTR. OTR was a special kind of monster that had controversies, a remix with an old artist, a music video, and countless other remixes.

The Box may not have controversies, but it isn't released as a single. Once it does, I can't imagine how much further the song would go in terms of points. Also, The Box is getting a music video, and it could as easily get a remix even when it hits #1. OTR didn't have a remix until its second week at #1.

Two of his other songs that peaked in the top 20 also feature a Drake appearance. Jumpman with Drake (peaked at #12) and Used to This featuring Drake (peaked at #14), so basically, after this week, 4 of his 5 highest-peaking hits will feature a Drake appearance. If that isn't a pattern, I don't know what is.

Life is Good is #1 on iTunes. Didnt expect that tbh Weak numbers But it's leading the list by a respectable margin. I think everyone here accepts the fact now that less people are buying songs and thus sales are decreasing. Are streaming numbers from 2012 and 2013 "weak" because they aren't as high as current streaming numbers? No. In the same way, while sales numbers may be low, Life Is Good is doing extremely well in comparison to the rest of the songs. That is not weak.

Also, as far as I'm concerned, people predicted the song to only reach the top 5, not hit #1, when it first did. Then on its second week it logged its peak points of about 100,000. The remix definitely came out during the second week.
