Not if King Roddy has something to say about it. The Box is about to be the Old Town Road of this new year. I wouldn't compare The Box to OTR. OTR was a special kind of monster that had controversies, a remix with an old artist, a music video, and countless other remixes. I'm surprised there aren't any controversies considering Roddy puts a price on George Zimmerman's head in the song

First Impressions of Rare: As someone who's not a fan, It's not as boring as I expected? Selena Gomez is still least interesting part of her own music but the writing is a bit more interesting than I'd expect. LYTLM has actually grown on me a lot, I like Dance Again and even Look at Her Now, if it hadn't been for the chorus, it wouldn't be that bad of a song. There's also nothing outright embarrassing as 'Hands to Myself' or as bad as 'Come and Get It'. This certainly feels like her 'Purpose', a stab at being more personal. Hands to Myself one of the best pop songs of the 2010s...

I don't think anyone is gonna be standing up for George Zimmerman except for far right extremists lol. And if they do, well, that's good press for Roddy because everyone loves a guy who can piss off Nazis.

Life is Good is now #2 on Apple Music. I'm curious to see how long it takes for it to reach #1.

Hot take: I do not like when songs top the charts for many weeks at a time. The 19 weeks when OTR was on top was very boring, as there was not much to talk about besides OTR for nearly five months. I personally prefer when many songs get a chance at n.1, so I am preparing for the worst with The Box It was pretty funny watching all of the huge names getting owned. "Ok, I know ME! failed but this new Sheeran song will definitely do it" "Ok, I know Sheeran failed but this NEW Taylor song can totally stop him" "Ok, I know that Taylor failed again, but this Camilla song will totally definitely stop him" And then in the end it was defeated by a single that debuted low in the top ten in his first week at #1. Yes, I don't want another 500 week #1 but I wouldn't mind another one dominating for 8-12 weeks. Except in reality it wasn't interesting at all. Nobody thought that Ed Or Camila would debut above it and even for Taylor it was obvious by Sunday that it was going #2. And as you point out, the moment when it was eventually "dethroned" was anti-climactic since it essentially wasn't dethroned at all it just fell off eventually and got passed by something that had already been popular for months. It was a very boring run for the charts.

I mean, he is not on half the song, and since it is a future song he isn't the clear driving force here, and they have made boat loads of collabs before including an entire collab album. I get your point, but Drake is not the driving force here as much as it is a team effort. Also idk if it is being generous, like he is a billionaire and he will get paid boatloads more money for this, he still charges his friends for features. Also he thought he WAS going to be credited for Sicko Mode and wasn't, and I am sure he wishes he was in hindsight since he was in two of the three parts of the song If Life is Good debuts any higher than #5, it'll be Future's highest peaking song yet, his third top 10 hit and his second top 10 hit on a song that also features an appearance by Drake. Well, it's certainly better than Love Me, which was one of the worst hits of the entire 2010s.

Life Is Good will probably debut #3 or #2 and then linger around the top 10 for a while while never repeaking.

According to HDD, The Box had 47.9 million on-demand streams last week with 18.9 million coming from Spotify. It must be doing huge numbers on AM

Life is good most probably won't go to #1, it will probably debut at #2 behind The box.

Way too early to tell, but I think if anything is gonna snag 1 over The Box this week, it’s probably something from Selena’s album, depending on how that does 1st day.

Would not have called myself a Selena Gomez fan at all before today, but I have not been able to take Rare off repeat since I first heard it. Already shaping up to be one of my favorite pop albums ever.

I listened to Life is Good and Drake’s part is solid while Future’s is a so off to me. Idk if this would last long in the top 10/20 I first listened to the music video and when Future started talking and the beat changed, I thought Drake's part was part of a different song and they just made it part of the video but then I listened to the audio and found out that was the song. It reeks of them trying to make SICKO MODE but with two parts and less creativity. Beat switch =/= SICKO MODE -_- It was definitely a choppy beat switch tho

Stop comparing the Box to OTR, they are completely different. Sure while remixes haven’t yet been released for The Box, there is absolutely zero guarantee that they will be anywhere near as successful as OTR’s remixes. OTR also had a lot of controversy and a unique place in our culture that The Box doesn’t. On the other hand, the Box is performing incredibly well at On-Demand even before being released as a single, so it might be able to become a more traditional powerhouse, relying on straightforward streaming enormity instead of a bunch of remixes and UGC. The Box could be way smaller or bigger than OTR but they are totally different beasts.

Yummy is rising insanely fast on radio, not sure how long that will last though. I assume Radio will probably be the main thing keeping it steady (or at least trying to) in the future

The Box obviously won't come close to the amount of weeks Old Town Road spent at #1, but considering it's already at humongous streaming and just getting started at Urban/Rhythmic radio it should spend the next month or two atop atleast.
I'm not sure if it'll do longer than 7 or 8 weeks, mostly because 2020 seems to have lots of big names due to release. (Drake, Rihanna, Cardi B, Gaga, Adele, Bruno, Beyonce, Kendrick, Weeknd, Bieber. Also non-superstar names like Lil Nas/Shawn/Demi/Sam Smith etc are also likely due for new music. Billie, Ariana, and Ed could also come back with another album this year already.)
