"Numb" is #1 for an 8th week and should have no problem making it to the double digits. Incubus and Jet are next in line for #1, but it will be at least three more weeks, if not more, before either will be a threat.
Looks like Switchfoot will just miss the top 5, but they've had a great run nonetheless.
I can't believe Chevelle is still going. Top 10 should be no problem for next week.
What the hell is "Faint" doing at #21 in its 40th week?
I like the longevity "Red Hot Moon" is having, but it deserved a lot better than #39.
Dashboard Confessional will make the top 40 this week if they correctly remove "Faint".
Debuts: White Stripes, Korn, To my Surprise

" Debuts: White Stripes, Korn, To my Surprise Woohoo I didn't expect to see Korn make the chart so soon. But this song seems to be doing very well. I think it will do better than "Right Now"

Personally, I don't like sticky topics. I think if they're important enough, they'll stay near the top of the page on their own. Although, at least it wouldn't be as bad as it is in the charts forum where sometimes you have to scroll halfway down the page to find the most recent un-sticky topic when the sticky topics hadn't been replied to in 2 or 3 days.
But anyway, what I'm surprised at is how well "[red][/red]Darling Nikki" is holding up when there isn't even CD to buy the song on.
I'm mad that Cold didn't try a third single (or hasn't yet). "Suffocate" didn't get too high but 17 weeks on the chart should be enough to extend the album's drive.
I don't even remember that White Stripes song (or even the whole title). I think they waited too long too, but at least they're off to a fine start.
That To My Surprise song probably has the lowest audience of any top 50 hit I've ever seen. Even less than "Lapdance". I sure haven't heard it. The ad in R and R says they're a pop band.
That Lo-Pro song seems to sound kind of similar to 3 Days Grace, although I like it so far. It's taken awhile to debut.
"Y'all Want A Single" probably won't get much higher. It's gotten mixed reviews here, which, for a Korn song, is good, so I'd at least like to hear it once. I hate that title, though.
I don't care if Faint stays on as long as they get rid of "So Far Away" by next week. My god.
I was hoping "The Outsider" could hang around for awhile but it's audience is also fairly low for its position.
And I agree, #39 for "Red Hot Moon" is horrible.

On the 4:52 AM update, "Faint" is still current. But there's no way that R&R could let "Faint" slip below #20 if they know anything at all about the chart, so I'm not too worried about it.
I think Nickelback might make the top 10 next week and not Chevelle. "Closure" is certainly more deserving, though.
I'm expecting "One Thing" to cross over now that it's top 20 at Alt.
I'll be mad if "Darling Nikki" outpeaks "Low".

Isn't the new White Stripes song called "I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself". I heard that was going to be the next single. It is a good song but not as good as SNA or THBTB. As for Cold I think they should release another single. There is definitely enough good material on "Year Of The Spider"

For Cold, I've heard it'd be between Wasted Years and Cure My Tragedy from Year of the Spider. I'd also like to hear another single from Cold. Suffocate should have done much better IMO.

Yeah, both of those are good. I don't remember any of the other songs from the album anyway (except for "Kill the F**king Music Industry", lol). "Wasted Years" has crossover potential.

"Wasted Years" would be a great third single, but I think there's too much crossover potential. Pop already wrecked Staind, and this is where Cold should excel because we need some decent metal bands that haven't sold out yet.

I don't see Cold crossing over like Staind did but anything is possible I guess. I still think Aaron Lewis is brillant but their music now is nothing like their music back in the late 90's :(

Well, I agree stickyed topics mess up the page in that the most recently replied to topic is not always on top. My point, though, was that if the pop chart topic is good enough to sticky, why not this one? (Or others for that matter)
I'm just glad the Foo Fighters will continue their top 20 streak. I'm happy that KNDD is finally playing it. I really like the song even though I've only heard it four times. Yeah, I guess "Low" is better, but they deserve at least a peak equal to "The One". I understand it's the B-Side to the "All My Life" single.
The new White Stripes song is taking a bit long for me to get used to (I've been hearing it since early November), but I guess I'll like it. Definitely not as much as their first two singles though.
"The Red" lasted 39 weeks and "Send The Pain Below" lasted 37 weeks and they both reached the top 10 after about a third of their chart run. I'm expecting at least 30 weeks out of "Closure" and around a #6 peak, but that's my prediction.
If there's one thing I don't like about KNDD's rebirth, it's that now they're screwing over some decent songs because they're probably not considered "alternative". "How About You" is one of those songs. They played it a lot before, but now I can't remember when I heard it last. >:(

I'll be mad if " Darling Nikki" outpeaks "Low". "Closure" may have currently lost its bullet (it has lost it a few random times) but I think Puddle Of Mudd's losses will grant Chevelle a guaranteed third consecutive Top 10 entry. It'll take Nickelback two more weeks to get into the Top 10. Red Hot Chili Peppers will give it to them. Wow! "How About You" currently has lost its bullet! Can this be the possible end of Staind's dominating days? Foo Fighters are looking to get a sleeper hit. After earning two recent hits off of pure heavy promotion, longevity is the weapon of choice for this cover. It will reward them! Linkin Park, let "Faint" faint from the current chart and give someone else a chance! Jet and Incubus, you are good to go for the next Alternative #1 hit. May the more fortunate band win! (possibly both if Jet gets there first!) But Incubus have the much bigger bullet. "Y'All Want A Single?" More like, "Y'all Want A Flop?" It's time for Three Days Grace to release "Just Like You" (though I find that to be an incredibly bland and boring song) and Jet should get to promoting "Cold Hard B****" and follow the Linkin Park strategy of promoting a new single early so it gets longevity. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I doubt "Y'all Want A Single" is gonna flop. It is showing strong numbers right out of the gate. I expect it to atleast go top 10 on AR like "Right Now" did and I also expect it to do much better on Alternative. Yay for Incubus though !!! Sometimes substance does win out

If Jet hits #1 before Incubus does and denies them a shot, I will never listen to alternative radio again.
(Actually, I probably will, but that threat goes to show how much I don't want Jet to hit #1, at all)
I consider "Y'all Want A Single" to be Korn's third single, with Did My Time being their first (I do believe it's on the album). Therefore, I think the song could peak anywhere between #35 and #14.

Technically I suppose you are right. But I consider "Right Now" to be their lead off single. Because Did My Time" wasn't promoted as such

"Faint" has been removed from the current chart. I think next time this happens, we should keep it confined to PM's and see if Mediabase notices without us. [:)].
Greatest gainers of the moment (although I guess this would count for the 1/23 chart...)
[red]Courtney Love - Mono (#27, +413) Incubus - Megalomaniac (#5, +237) Lostprophets - Last Train Home (#16, +231) Blink 182 - I Miss You (#30, +215) White Stripes - I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself (#42, +192) Darkness - I Believe In A Thing Called Love (#21, +151) Yellowcard - Ocean Avenue (#32, +144) Nickelback - Figured You Out (#14, +141) A Perfect Circle - The Outsider (#23, +111) Foo Fighters - Darling Nikki (#18, +108) Crystal Method - Born Too Slow (#28, +105) Finger Eleven - One Thing (#17, +104)[/red]
I'm happy to see "Born Too Slow" and "The Outsider" pick it up a little. And I agree that the Finger Eleven song is going to end up at Hot Ac and Pop. Still can't believe how well it's done up to now.

Looks like I was right. :( Closure is losing over 100 spins now and has fallen to #13. On the plus side though, Last Train Home is about to enter the top 10. :) The bottom end of the top 20 is getting weird. A couple of days ago it was Finger Eleven and Foo Fighters with the largest bullets, now it's Story of the Year and The Darkness.

I just can't believe that the Darkness is doing so well with a song that is neither alternative nor new-metal.
