The future is f**ked. I'll try be more lenient in future judging lol~ All three judges made this same error though so you being more lenient wouldn't fully resolve the problem. There is clearly some kind of generational gap going on here. Aggression and conflict aren't always about literally shouting at the top of your lungs or not being too 'tame' but Shooter may have a point when referring to age; this seems like something one wouldn't really get without living another year or ten. TBIM isn't an 'obvious' choice but I thought it was a really clever one for that very reason so it was a bummer to see a really creative choice punished so severely. More so because as far as future challenges are concerned this sends the message to be as predictable as possible if one wants to win, and if that is the direction all the picks start going in it won't be fun to watch (for me - I am aware some people love the taste of tap water).

^ Yeah but the delivery was so tame. The lyrics are like โlook, Iโm sorry that you canโt understand, this man is mine and mine onlyโ. Same goes for Janetโs song. She had the rock sound & it still wasnโt a top tier pick for theme. This is not an age gap thing. I think itโs more due to how we understood & handled this theme.
In my mind, the Spartans are all about aggression & lack of compassion and other feelings. Thatโs why I also rated โGreen Lightโ 2.5 for theme.

In other news, route map has been updated once more! We've hit four continents at this point, but there's still two more largely populated ones to cover, and plenty of legs to do it! Where will we go next? Keep watching to find out ;)

But if the judges aren't able to objectively assess the nuances of a theme, I think the themes should be even more specific and defined. Aggression, by definition, means "ready to attack or confront"; you don't have to be loud and menacing or screaming bloody murder to be confrontational. If they had said "submit a song that would be played as you prepare for war", I doubt we'd be having this conversation.

part of the idea of this is choosing a song that you think fits the theme. the judges can then disagree with you about how well the song fits the theme in the same way that one could disagree with someone about a song they like. also weโve been very clear that if you have questions you can ask us. this involves specific questions regarding the theme

So how is Love Me Harder unexpected? I honestly think every song is unexpected and fit well (well maybe not one of them but I won't go into that). Like I said in the discord, who would have though The Weeknd (the Trilogy/Wicked Games guy) would collaborate with a Nickelodeon pop star at the time.

These lists are pretty stacked. Canโt wait to see the results for this one.
Sad that only one sports songs was picked. I find a few of them enjoyable, namely Wavin Flag (World Cup 2010 version) , Cup of Life, and Dar um Jeito.

Check-in #1~Every 4 legs, I'll check in and go over the events that have transpired! I'll catch up on leg info, scores and what the future could hold for our teams.Leg 1:
Our teams begun the worldwide race at the starting line of Chicago! We had a diverse range of participants, overlooking a wide range of races, sexualities, cultures and backgrounds. However, all 13 teams had one common goal, winning this incredible race!
Trouble began for one unfortunate team, as one member quit out of the race. We had to call on our reserve, Jugs to fill in the spot that Io had left behind. Beyond that, viewers were already riled over a certain controversial participant in the Cynthia/Waffle team which allowed for pre-existing team drama to ensue.
The challenges for the first leg were mostly simple, and saw the teams travelling around Chicago to complete both a roadblock and detour before hitting the final mat. However, the promise of a definite elimination saw the teams already running the risk of a brisk and likely saddening early exit.
Will and Samo were the lucky winners of this leg, after being the first team to leave the roadblock and using that advantage to stay ahead after the detour. Following shortly behind were BB and Walt, who were consistently second throughout this leg and made it within a short time from the front runners. Rounding out the top 3 was Leo and Julien who made it through sheer consistent work throughout the leg.
Undisputedly, the biggest story of comeback was from MoD and DistrictTwelve. After walking out of the roadblock in 10th place, they nailed the detour and finished just within the top 5. On the other side of the spectrum, Juggalo and Tanooki had a great roadblock showing but slowed down massively in the detour. Thankfully for them it didn't cost them the race but being within a tiny 2 points of elimination is never a great feeling.
Our bottom 3 saw our biggest story in Cynthia and Waffle making it through the first leg. It was something that no one expected and yet the nation watched them hit the mat in 11th place, a lot but still acceptable placing. Even Cynthia from the team seemed upset with this placing, and the viewers were just as unapproving. The final two teams were so close that the last place team physically watched their last hope of staying in removed. That unlucky team was Matt and Lukas, who through a subpar roadblock time and merely decent detour performance found themselves cut first and foremost.
Leg 2:
After spending an entire leg in Chicago, the teams got a true taste of the worldwide aspect of the show through the second leg. Teams travelled south to Miami, before going across to Latin America and hitting Mexico City.
Before departing from the starting line, teams were informed that they had to choose a name for themselves, or else be given a name from the host. Some fan favourites were Team Jeff, The ๐s and The Bad Guys. (Duh.).
The lucky winners for this leg were the newly appointed "Tomato Haterz Squad" who had an awesome detour performance and a solid roadblock time, meaning they snuck ahead and won by merely .9 points! Just behind were the biggest risers of the leg, #TEAMTASTE! If it weren't for them starting behind BB and Walt, they would've won the leg! Finalising the top 3 is The Optimistic Cockroaches, who had a slower detour which let other teams overtake them, but caught back some ground at the roadblock.
The rest of the teams were stable, with the minor exception of "Team Nameless" taking the biggest loss down to 8th place. However once again, MoD and DistrictTwelve had a fantastic detour showing but a lacking roadblock performance, thankfully not weighing them down.
At our bottom 3, Team SICKOS pulled off another close call in positions, coming 10th and third last to elimination. However in terms of time, a large gap existed between them and the team in #11, as the bottom two were mostly removed from every other team. Just pulling through were the newly dubbed 'Rock Lovers', who were saved by an unexpectedly low roadblock score from Cynthia/Waffle. Audience ratings skyrocketed as Cynthia's team was revealed to have been finally eliminated, coming in the respectable position of second last overall.
Leg 3:
With the bad guys (literally) removed, the teams felt both more comforted and concerned as they knew that the next to go could be them. Not only that, but a fast forward twist was revealed to the teams and it definitely shook up conversation. The teams travelled out of North America to compete in a roadblock in Sao Paulo, only to find out the finish line was in Johannesburg in South Africa! This revelation sent the teams far away from home and into the unknown, and many teams decided to opt the safe route for this leg.
One such team that did not take the safe route for this leg was The Caged Nooks. After two simply okay placements, they decided to take a risk and give the fast forward a go. And funnily enough, they were the only team to consider it and as such passed it with ease. They took a shock finish at #1, which saw the underdogs become the top dogs, even if for just a leg. Another team with an unexpectedly high placement was The Sickos, coming off of two bottom 3 placings to a second place rating through an excellent detour play. Along with this, the slow risers of The ๐s hit the top 3 for the first time, being the best once again in one of the individual challenges.
This leg overall had many switchovers, including what looked like the biggest falloffs possible in the show. The two notable fall-offs were both in the bottom 3, with BB and Walt crashing from pole placing to a dangerously close to elimination position. The other big fall-down, and the eliminated team, was Team #7. Without living up to their name, they lost with the biggest margin revealed so far. Just saved was BrianC and Drae, who after consecutive #6 placings slipped up with an unfavourable detour result down to #10.
Leg 4:
This leg was one full of twists and turns that the teams had to cope with. Not only did they have to traverse the giant continent of Africa and finish in Europe, they also had to select a yield if they got the chance to slow another team down.
In the midst of the chaos, a familiar champion rose back to the top. BB and Walt, the Tomato Haterz themselves, had re-peaked at the top of the Pulse Amazing Race charts. They were the first team to perform the best in both challenges and as such also the first team to use the yield! Their choice was rivals Will and Samo, who's been consistently performing well and had the best average out of all the teams. Thanks to their yield, three times hit the finish line first. Namely, these teams were Team Jeff, The ๐s and The SICKOS in that order. Team Jeff hit their highest position yet here, after diminishing returns from the previous legs.
At the lower end, Team Nameless hit the bottom 3 for the first time at #8, and #TeamTASTE hit their lowest position yet at #9. This would've been more of a concern had the bottom team not been trailing behind exorbitantly. After hitting #1, they hit a slump in the detour and were by far the last team to check-in. And yet, just when all hope seemed lost for them, they were given a reprieve as they were informed the leg was a non-elimination one, and that they would be staying for at least one more leg.
Leg overview complete, team overview coming hopefully shortly~

Still Racing:The Tomato Haterz Squad (BB/Walt) - Currently the only team to win two legs, and is starting this 5th leg in first place - Has the lowest average of all teams, a 3.25 per leg. Constantly referred to as the 'pop poster' team, this duo seems unstoppable! But can they keep momentum as the race continues on?
Team Jeff (Gates/Jamesflame) - Never been in the bottom 3, or top 3 until this last leg - My personal favourite name Team Jeff is a duo of diversity, and has constantly put in the effort to make their submissions top notch~
The ๐s (MoD/DistrictTwelve) - Has the second lowest average despite never hitting the top two - Only team to never leave the top 5! The most interesting team to watch select songs, these guys are hilarious!
The Sickos (Drakeiskinny/Mayman) - So far, they're the only team to come both second last and second! - They tie the record for biggest jump, from 10 to 2. The Sickos are currently on an upward stay, as they've stuck in the top 5 twice after two lower legs. Will these funny villains (?) be in it for the long run?
The Optimistic Cockroaches (Will/Samo) - Samo is so far the only person who I've seen change their avatar for this game - First team to both win a challenge and win a leg Original frontrunners, but recently haven't been performing as strongly as they used to. Perhaps they've burned themselves out?
Team Orange (BrianC/Drae) - Team Orange has been 6th three non-consecutive times in a row - Definitely one of the most consistent teams, they're neither near the top nor bottom most often. - The only team to not hit the top 5 ever. Surely this team must be 6th overall, unless some divine intervention intervenes!
The Rock Lovers (Jaden/Shrug) - Youngest competing team, with one 13 year-old and one 16-year old (The same age as me!) - Highest overall average, at 7.75 per leg. Arguably one of the two major underdog teams, these two have seemingly beaten the odds to make it here. Can they continue onwards towards the top 5?
Team Nameless (Leo/Julien) - One of the quietest teams, if not the quietest team! - Unpredictable team, hard to tell where they're going next Team Nameless is quiet but could still be a secret threat...
#TeamTASTE (Surf/Shooter) - Has a better average than any other team currently in the bottom 5 - Both are pulse mainstays and I believe have been here longer than any other competitors Team Taste is a strong team, and definitely shouldn't be overlooked! These guys have stuck it on Pulse for many years, surely they can handle a season of Pulse Amazing Race!
The Caged Nooks (Tanooki/Jugs) - Biggest gain and biggest drop medal owners - Only female remaining in the entire competition after Cynthia and Chrona's eliminations From first to last, a huge movement and yet you're still standing strong through it! Mayhaps you'll be the true underdogs, ones who seem to just survive consistently before shocking us all~

Looks like the winners of the fast forward and also the fifth leg are approaching now. Wait... that can't be:
1. The Caged Nooks (@doinktheclown & tanooki ) Overall Score: 62.9Roadblock Rank: #8 | Detour Rank: #8 | Fast Forward Rank: #1 Bonus from Leg 2: 0.0 (10th place) Speed Bump Results:Theme: Jet LagAll that flying around can simply be exhausting. After all, youโve been flying to 2-3 different cities every week. For your speed bump, you must send a song as sleepy as you might be feeling were you running the race in real life, one that many would describe as boring. You can lose a maximum of 6 points from the judges.Judge's thoughts:
Nick: yeah I can see people calling this boring/sleepy so no points lost there. however I find it very relaxing and quite enjoyable, to the point where I wonโt be taking any points off! -0
Mylo: I donโt know where to beginโฆ This song is amazing and thereโs no chance Iโd remove points off this. I would probably give this a 9.5/10, that guitar and vocal combination is magnificent. Extremely smart choice, youโve passed this speed bump in flying colours. (-0/2)
Trilogy: (-0.5)
Total: -0.5 Fast Forward Results:The theme was: Casablanca is not only a famous city in Morocco, but also a famous movie. For this Fast Forward, you must send a song that references a movie or movie star in the title. Judges' Thoughts:
Nick: man this is just THE perfect Bond song. It gives all the slick, cold spy vibes that the Daniel Craig Bond movies are known for. doesnโt hurt that itโs an awesome song (10/10)
Mylo: I remember this songโs release, way back in 2012. I wasnโt even 10 then but I distinctly remember asking to play this on my dads phone haha. Nostalgia aside, this is excellentรฉ. Adele should make more songs like this, dramatic and overblown in the best possible ways. That build-up and climax is so satisfying haha. Very smart and effective choice for this FF (10/10)
Trilogy: 6.5/10 (5.5/7 quality, 1/3 theme)
Overall: 26.5This time, Jugs and Nooks were not the only team to participate. Yet, they still managed to win the Fast Forward simply through an excellent choice! Every other Fast Forward team will lose three points off their total score~ Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Jugs)Judges' Thoughts:Nick: Classic. I feel like this is another one of those songs that just everyone seems to like. and the chorus is just so iconic omg, as is that sax solo (9.5/10)
Mylo: Vocals alone got higher on my list What a performance lol. The saxophone is a good touch too~ This isnโt my favourite Whitney song though, I think I Wanna Dance is still her shining song. (8/10)Sambalada: Iconic. My criteria for a cover is a little different. I wouldn't take songwriting into judging because it belongs to the original song. That being said, this song fills in every thing needed to make a great cover. One of them is emotion. Whitney's version is just purely beautiful and raw. The delivery is almost too beautiful. And then Whitney's vocals! GOD! This become her signature song for a reason! The final chorus is I.C.O.N.I.C. and I never heard anyone hit that high note without giving me a headache except for Miss Houston herself, meaning she's done a perfect job at it. I love love LOVE this song so much. In fact, it's one of only 6 songs ever that I'd give a perfect 10 score. (10)Overall: 27.5Detour Results:
(Out Of Place)Judges' Thoughts:Nick: this is cool I suppose. Itโs a little too over dramatic for my liking. but it is a pretty solid anthem if thatโs what youโre in the mood for. In terms of the unexpectedness of the collab, Iโd say Kanye hopping on a electro rock bandโs song is pretty unexpected. (5.5 for quality, 3 for theme = 8.5/10)
Mylo: This is a typical Thirty Seconds To Mars song then suddenly Kanye is there haha. Despite their differences, I actually think they work really well together! This was a cool discovery honestly, nice pick! (4.2 quality, 4.2 for theme, 8.4 overall)
Woods: The song wasn't that great to me, and the high notes he hits are not good either. Also Kanye is hardly in this song, and the collaboration isn't the most surprising. (2.5/7 quality + 1.5/3 theme = 4/10)
Overall: 20.9
Y'all did it... again! You came from damn near last all the way to the top. Very well done guys, your risky choice to take the FF again worked out well. It's a good thing it did for you too, because otherwise you guys would've come dead last and faced elimination! You beat a speed bump, a non-elimination leg and even had the time to make two risky moves, well played. Enjoy the second leg win, and enjoy 1.9 extra points to guide you along next round.
