I feel really bad criticizing it because it clearly comes from a very personal place and am glad the artist is going clean, like seriously all praise in the world for her going sober...but Anyone by Demi Lovato feels very awards-baity in the same way as Til It Happens to You or Piece by Piece. It just sounds like a very generic 'I'm alone and need someone song'. And again, I feel bad because I can relate; I've had bouts of depression and have felt alone and isolated but the songs just feels, for a lack of a better word, clean and not as cutting or authentic as Sober was.
Again, glad Demi is sober and I sincerely hope she doesn't relapse but sadly the song is forgettable.

Considering almost every major publication predicted it to win and the NYT literally tweeting about Eilish’s ‘surprise’ win for ‘ROTY’... “LOL”, indeed. It was never a farfetched assumption. It was it should of been clearer that the Grammys would see it’s as a gimmick you predicted a Lizzo sweep. be quiet

I know that this is from 2009, but any chance that this charts? Nowhere to be seen on the iTunes or Apple Music charts, so highly unlikely. Chief Keef's "Kobe," on the other hand, is on both charts, but again, highly unlikely to chart. Also, as of this post, Demi has skyrocketed from #20 to #2 on iTunes. The Wayne song isn't on streaming service as far as I know

Billie Eilish sweeping the Big 4 makes perfect sense. She was a fresh face who was huge last year and made music that isn’t traditionally mainstream (think what you wanna think, “bury a friend” sounds like no other pop hit of last decade) hit the big time. I’m disappointed Ariana didn’t win anything because she totally deserved to (at least pop vocal album), but this is by no means a travesty. Maybe we need another 24K Magic/Lemonade type mess in 2021 because we obviously aren’t thankful for what we have this year.
You wanna talk actual Grammy screw ups? The trend of giving an acclaimed LP by a female artist an AOTY nom and no genre category noms needs to stop. Lorde, Janelle Monáe and now Lana Del Rey. It’s ridiculous and dismissive of their talent.

I mean this years Grammy were a hit or miss in general there was no in between and honestly I wasn't a fan of the demi song but vocally she sounded good, Ariana did good with her medley, Aerosmith was a mess,I don't get why camila didn't perform my oh my but did first man imo I don't see it being a success like my oh my but okay,at least every newcomer won a award and whew another Grammy in the books.

I'll say this, the performances were really good this year. Last year, it felt like only Janelle wanted to put on a show but this year, Ariana, Lil Nas X, and Tyler gave really great performances with some cool costumes.

Lmao at all the salty Ariana stans on Twitter I’m sorry but I feel like the people on Twitter live in a bubble of some sorts because I really don’t see how TUN “revitalized” anything. It was a successful era sure, but if anyone took the world by storm and revitalized the sound of pop music it was Billie. Not shading Ariana by any means but Billie’s win was totally expected and deserved (although I do think Ariana should have gotten at least one award).

It was a successful era sure, but if anyone took the world by storm and revitalized the sound of pop music it was Billie. Not shading Ariana by any means but Billie’s win was totally expected and deserved (although I do think Ariana should have gotten at least one award). Agreed. I don't wanna be one of those people who's like "who don't listen to enough music so your opinion should be negated" but if you're going to give a blanket statement of an art's quality and then re-write chart history and the landscape of popular music without a full grasp of what the charts were actually like, I have issues. I've seen a lot of Ariana stans pull up the graphic of her taking up the top 3 spots of the Hot 100 for a week and proving how successful and "powerful" she is, but Billie Eilish had the most successful album of 2019 in the Top 10 and 'bad guy' spent more weeks in the Top 10 than both '7 rings' and 'thank u, next'. Not to mention, FINNEAS has been a very influential producer over the past 12 months, and that's even before considering the other pop artists like Halsey, Post Malone, Taylor Swift, and others were already having charting pop hits around the time 'thank u, next' dropped. Stans really need to realize Ariana didn't single-handedly revive pop music. Plus the "it helped a lot of people and was creative & honest" could just as easily be applied to WWAFA, WDWG? if not more.

Billie is widely predicted to birth a whole wave of copycats/similar acts. Her impact will be felt at the very least for the next couple years.
Ariana will be fine lol. She has one more Grammy than Katy Perry. I definitely feel like they screwed up by wrapping the singles too early.

the thing about everyone comparing Billie to Adele is that means her 21 era is still approaching

Huge losses on Spotify yesterday, even weaker than what we usually expect for a Sunday. Only 4 songs above 1 million streams.

Is it time for the "Spotify's dead" obligatory posts or do we understand that Sunday usually sees a decrease for everything and there were no big releases this week...

I might be reaching, but I think Kobe Bryant's death had something to do with why yesterday's losses were especially huge. It shook the entire country. I guess not a lot of people felt like streaming their favorite songs as much following the news of his death.

Compared to everything else's drops, The Box's are huge. It might already be on its way out unless that music video comes out SOON
