Don't Start Now hasn't peaked yet. People are still gravitated towards the song instead of Physical.

I know y'all not freaking out over a #29 debut on spotify for a girl that "only" has one top ten hit. Physicals debut is fine. It's not even being pushed in the states yet. The focus is still on Don't start now. 29 is excellent for Dua. It's actually her seconded highest debut.

Btw, it looks like our Lil Tecca aka the Lyrical Lemonade one hit wonder for the year is gonna be The Kid LAROI *Jack Harlow As much as I'm not a huge fan of Jack Harlow - he sounds like a more engaging G-Eazy - I don't think he'll be the new Lil Tecca. He's too talented and with too much humor that even though I don't think he'll have another charting song on the Hot 100, he'll have a sizeable following afterwards. I think he'll follow a similar path of Amine, KYLE, and bbno$: they're not getting hits but they're still getting attention after they blew up, they still have a following. I don't have the same faith with The Kid LAROI. He's young, he's not all that distinct from the auto-crooner crowd, and if it hadn't been for music videos with Cole Bennett, I doubt people would've cared about him.

Because life is a meme, a Super Bowl as pushes Old Town Road to number two on iTunes. I mean, thatβs still only a few thousand copies, but the longevity is impressive.

"Don't Start Now" had much stronger promo in it's first week. #1 on NMF, lots of playlisting, radio, high TTH placement, etc. Physical doesn't have any of that exposure aside from a few playlists and NMF. It's also #17 on TTH or something? It'll grow over time. It's the second single and she's releasing it while "Don't Start Now" is still going. She probably isn't sending it until after DSN is done, and it'll organically grow from there.
"Physical" also suffered from a leak whereas "Don't Start Now" didn't.
I can see "Physical" debuting 40-60 as well.

The iTunes reaction has been pretty meh but that might also be indication of the irrelevance of digital sales these days. Better wait for the streaming numbers I think.
But, why is OTR Remix #2 on iTunes?

Surprised Shakira seems to be doing better than J Lo on Itunes. General consensus seems to be that Shakira stole the show (and deservedly so, her set was better) so yeah, I'm not gonna be surprised more Shakira songs return than J Lo

Listening to the chorus of Physical, it sounds like it uses a sample but I can't figure out from where, any help? As someone here previously said, the chorus shares a resemblance to that of Patti Labelle's "New Attitude" (but less 80s sounding and with less vocal inflections). On another note, somebody online posted a mashup of "Physical" with Katy Perry's "Dressin' Up", and there are also some similarities there. However, I don't think she used any particular sample. By the way, a question on a controversial issue: if Dua Lipa takes inspiration from a black artist's song, is she required to credit their influence on her sound? Would it be considered as 'appropriating' or 'stealing' black music? I'm asking this because of a tiresome and frustrating argument I had with someone online, and I would be interested to hear the perspective from more mature, rational people like yourselves. π

huge losses for everything on Spotify today- only 4 songs over 1mil streams. Probably because of the Super Bowl.

Whatβs even the oldest song to hit number 1?? I know bohemian rhapsody was close but ended up at #2 in 1992 when it was released 17 years earlier

Y'all late, "Tusa" is Latin America's equivalent to "Dance Monkey" on Australia.

By the way, a question on a controversial issue: if Dua Lipa takes inspiration from a black artist's song, is she required to credit their influence on her sound? No more than if she took inspiration from a white artist My thoughts exactly, but the person I had an argument with said it was a prime showcase of how white artists benefit from black people's work and gain more acclaim and recognition for it, as if it were the 50s or something π I'm not qualified to comment on this issue, but if Normani or Ella Mai had released "Physical" and it had flopped, it would be more related to name recognition and previous chart success than the colour of their skin, now wouldn't it? Regardless, I don't want to go off-topic on a chart discussion thread, so I'll just leave it here. I just had to get it off my chest.
