#1 - She's In Love With The BoyWriter: John Ims Total Points: 14 fearlessarrow - 1 austin - 1 tim - 1 castleoblivion26 - 1 someguy - 1 bboat11 - 1 Kanenrá:ke - 1 taylor - 1 .indulgecountry - 2 BackwoodsBarbie - 2 ClevelandRox - 2 To probably no one's surprise, Trisha's debut single and signature hit "She's In Love With The Boy" ran away with this. In fact, I was even wondering if every single list would have had it at #1, since the first seven people all put it on top of their lists. Its lowest ranks are a trio of #2s that came in later in the submission process. "She's In Love With The Boy" was sent to country radio in March 1991, and it went all the way to #1, making Trisha the first country female artist in history to have her debut single make it to #1. It has become her most well-known song. When she performs it live, Trisha often tells the story that when she debuted on the Opry, Porter Wagoner was there, and he told her to "sing the one that brung ya", referring to her always having to play "She's In Love With The Boy" every time she performs, because it is the reason that she went on to have the career that she did. She dedicates the song to him every time she plays it now.

Thanks to everyone who participated! I know the finish wasn't really surprising, but what did surprise me was 1) how close "She's In Love With The Boy" came to being everyone's #1 and 2) how strong a #2 finisher "The Woman Before Me" was.

*pretends to be shocked at the outcome*
"She's in Love with the Boy" isn't one of my Trisha favorites, partially due to major overplay, but it is a classic. That said, "The Woman Before Me" is the only song on this album I preferred to it. I'm excited to do future albums because her output got a lot stronger after this album imo.

I'm glad my #1 for That's What I Like About You helped it in a tie, that was my whole reason for putting it at #1 over She's in Love With the Boy. When I saw the title Let's Be Frank, I was like 'watch this be a slew of Frank Sinatra covers' and I looked. 😂 Gonna opt that one out, but yall have fun and thanks for hosting the debut album someguy, it was fun!

Idk 'Hearts In Armor" I think is where she hit her stride and never really came down from the high*. *'Where Your Road Leads' being the exception

WOW!!! What is this outcome hunny!!! I wonder what miss bboat11 has to say about the significance of this amount of #1s. It's a shorter list than some rankdowns, but is this the closest a song has ever gotten to being everyone's #1? You probably don't have actual stats for it, but then again that's a huge record-book you keep up with on Google lol. And yes, I will be working on this album just as soon as I take a shower and watch Martina's upcoming episode of Songland (10pm Eastern y'all, less than half an hour!!!) and thus listen to her new song. I should have a list in tomorrow at the very latest. :)

Obvious winner~ lol I actually had probably never listened to Trisha's music before her singles rankdown - "She's In Love With The Boy" was an instant favorite and I didn't grow up on country radio nor do I listen to country radio ever so overplay has so far never factored into my impression of the song. I even kept the Garth/Trisha's live special on the TV just so I could hear Trisha sing this song. Thanks for hosting someguy!

I’ve kind of gotten behind on a couple of the rankdowns so it’s time to play catch up! I don’t think any of us were surprised by the outcome and fully expected “She’s In Love With the Boy” to runaway with the win and a very decisive one at that! And I’ll happily take a p-p-p-p perfect ranking for the top 3 (btw I put “The Woman Before Me” at #2 and “That’s What I Like About You” at #3…you have me down for both of those at #3). Except for “Fools Like Me” all of the songs to exit before the top 5 were from the back half of the album (the B-side if you will) which is the weakest part of the album, but that is likely because it’s overshadowed by the A-side lol. “Victim of the Game” is the one exception here and I agree with those that mentioned this would’ve been a great option to release as a single. Thanks again, someguy , now bring on Ol’ Blue Eyes!

#12 - The Man That Got AwayWriters: Harold Arlen, Ira Gershwin Total Points: 74 taylor - 8 tim - 10 castleoblivion26 - 10 someguy - 11 bboat11 - 11 Kanenrá:ke - 12 BackwoodsBarbie - 12 We kick off our reveals with "The Man That Got Away". Written by Harold Arlen and Ira Gershwin, the song was written for the 1954 version of A Star Is Born, and received a 1955 Oscar nomination for Best Original Song. Judy Garland's version of the song was the original. A 2019 remix of the song made it to #10 on Billboard's Dance Club Songs chart for Judy. It was been recorded by many other people, including Cher and Tony Bennett. Frank's version was recorded as "The Gal That Got Away". This was always destined for the bottom two here. It traded back and forth with #12 with another song, that actually pulled away and made it to #9. Kanenrá:ke and BackwoodsBarbie lose their #12s here.

#11 - One For My Baby (And One More For The Road)Writers: Harold Arlen, Johnny Mercer Total Points: 64 Kanenrá:ke - 4 tim - 8 someguy - 8 BackwoodsBarbie - 10 castleoblivion26 - 11 taylor - 11 bboat11 - 12 Our other song to miss the top 10 is "One For My Baby (And One More For The Road)". Initially, this wasn't a bottom 2 candidate at all, trending to be in the 7-9 range. bboat11's last place rank knocked it down, and with the remaining lower ranks coming in, it slid all the way back to #11. This was another song written for a movie. It was first recorded by Fred Astaire in the 1943 movie The Sky's The Limit. Frank Sinatra covered it four years later. It has been recorded by many artists, including Ella Fitzgerald, Willie Nelson and Rosemary Clooney, among many others. Kanenrá:ke becomes the first person to lose a top half ranking, with his #4 bowing out here.

#10 - I'll Be Seeing YouWriters: Sammy Fain, Irving Kahal Total Points: 57 BackwoodsBarbie - 6 castleoblivion26 - 6 bboat11 - 7 Kanenrá:ke - 8 someguy - 9 taylor - 9 tim - 12 Kicking off our top 10 is "I'll Be Seeing You". The album closer was always near the bottom of the pack, but was never in jeopardy of coming in the bottom 2. No one loses a top 5, but tim becomes the latest person to lose their last place song. This is another song closely associated with a movie, 1944's I'll Be Seeing You (which was named after it), but was originally written for the Broadway musical Right This Way. This song has been recorded by many artists over the years. Bing Crosby's version was the biggest hit, reaching #1 in 1944. Billie Holiday and Liberace also recorded it. Liberace's version was the first I ever heard, because it is used over the end credits of the movie Misery (where it is used in a very creepy way). That is what I always associate this song with.

#9 - If I Loved YouWriters: Oscar Hammerstein II, Richard Rogers Total Points: 56 taylor - 2 bboat11 - 3 tim - 9 Kanenrá:ke - 9 BackwoodsBarbie - 9 castleoblivion26 - 12 someguy - 12 Leaving at #9 is "If I Loved You", our initial last place contender, and the most polarizing song of the rankdown. someguy and castleoblivion26 lose last place songs, while taylor loses a #2 and bboat11 a #3. taylor's #2 ranking at the end of the submission process boosted this from #11 to #9. This is another song that is associated with a movie/musical. Written by the duo Rogers & Hammerstein, the song is from their 1945 musical Carousel, as well as the 1956 film version. This is another song that has been recorded many times. Other notable versions include Bing Crosby, Harry James and Perry Como, whose version of it became the biggest hit, reaching #3. I think Trisha sounds amazing here, but I find the song pretty sleepy, which is why I ranked it last.

#8 - All The WayWriters: Sammy Cahn, Jimmy Van Heusen Total Points: 53 castleoblivion26 - 4 bboat11 - 6 tim - 6 someguy - 7 Kanenrá:ke - 7 BackwoodsBarbie - 11 taylor - 12 We say goodbye to our final song with a #12, as taylor's last place song "All The Way" exits at #8. It was initially on track finish at #6, but the last two rankings ( BackwoodsBarbie's #11 and taylor's #12) pushed it down to #8. It is yet another song first introduced in a movie, 1957's The Joker Is Wild, winning the Oscar for Best Original Song in 1958. It has been recorded many times, but the most prominent is probably Celine Dion's 1999 cover that was made as a posthumous duet with Frank Sinatra. It was nominated for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals at the 2001 Grammy Awards.

#7 - Drinking AgainWriters: Johnny Mercer, Doris Tauber Total Points: 46 Kanenrá:ke - 3 taylor - 3 castleoblivion26 - 7 tim - 7 bboat11 - 8 BackwoodsBarbie - 8 someguy - 10 "Drinking Again" is our highest ranked song without a bottom two ranking. My #10 is its lowest ranking, which in hindsight, is probably a little too low. The song was always placed in the middle of the pack throughout the submission process, so its #7 ranking (highest of the bottom half) seems pretty fitting. Prominent covers of this one include versions by people like Dinah Washington, Aretha Franklin and Bette Midler.

#6 - Come Fly With MeWriters: Sammy Cahn, Jimmy Van Heusen Total Points: 41 bboat11 - 2 tim - 3 BackwoodsBarbie - 5 someguy - 5 taylor - 7 castleoblivion26 - 8 Kanenrá:ke - 11 Our final song to miss the top 5 is "Come Fly With Me", one of Frank Sinatra's biggest and most well-known hits. Unlike other songs on the album, this was written specifically for Frank, and he was the first one to make it a hit. Recent cover versions include renditions by Michael Buble and Robbie Williams. It looked like a top 5 contender here off and on throughout the submission process, and only ended up missing the top 5 by two points.

Oh wow, "Come Fly With Me" is one of the only songs on the album that actually had somewhat of an energy level, and kept that level believable and consistent for the entire song. Should have made the top 5!!!

I think we'll stop here for today. I will plan on finishing up tomorrow. Surprisingly, with results all over the place as bboat11 noted, we have made it to the top 5 without anyone losing their #1. That will all change soon, as 4 of our 5 remaining songs all have #1 ranks. Our top 5: Witchcraft Over The Rainbow They All Laughed The Lady Is A Tramp For The Last Time

#5 - WitchcraftWriters: Cy Coleman, Carolyn Leigh Total Points: 39 bboat11 - 1 tim - 5 castleoblivion26 - 5 Kanenrá:ke - 5 someguy - 6 BackwoodsBarbie - 7 taylor - 10 bboat11 is our unlucky person who loses their #1 first. "Witchcraft" stayed in the 5-6 range for most of the submission process. It mostly battled with "Come Fly With Me" for positions 5-6, and @bboat's #1 ranking helped push it over the edge. It was an original song for Frank, and notable covers include versions recorded by people like Bing Crosby, Ella Fitzgerald and Robert Smith of The Cure.

#4 - They All LaughedWriters: George Gershwin, Ira Gershwin Total Points: 36 Kanenrá:ke - 2 someguy - 3 BackwoodsBarbie - 4 taylor - 4 tim - 4 castleoblivion26 - 9 bboat11 - 10 Leaving us at #4 is "They All Laughed", which is probably my favourite 'classic' song discovery from the album. I had never heard of the song before this album, and I really, really enjoyed it. It is another song originally recorded by Fred Astaire from a Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers movie. This one comes from 1937's Shall We Dance. This song has been recorded many times before, and often as a duet. Notable duet versions include Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong and, most recently, Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga. Unlike many of the songs here, this was a later in life recording for Frank Sinatra. His version is from 1980. This was never a candidate for #1 here, but was very close to being #3. It was in the top 5 the whole time.

#3 - The Lady Is A TrampWriters: Lorenz Hart, Richard Rogers Total Points: 35 castleoblivion26 - 1 BackwoodsBarbie - 3 someguy - 4 taylor - 5 bboat11 - 5 Kanenrá:ke - 6 tim - 11 At #3 we find "The Lady Is A Tramp", another song also recorded by Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga. Their version was released as a single from their Cheek To Cheek duets album. This song has been recorded multiple times, and other notable versions include renditions by Ella Fitzgerald, Shirley Bassey and Bing Crosby. It was originally recorded by Tommy Dorsey in 1937. @castleoblivion loses his #1 here. This song was initially set back by tim's #11 ranking, but it gradually moved up the whole time, and was able to overtake "They All Laughed" for #3 by just 1 point.

I've never really been a fan of the song "The Lady Is a Tramp" so the opinion I have of it also transferred over to Trisha's version hence my low ranking for it.
I had a hunch it might come down to "Over the Rainbow" and "For the Last Time" as both of the songs are also in my top two! This really could go either way and it does seem like it was rather close...but I'm going to say "For the Last Time" comes out ahead.

#2 - Over The RainbowWriters: Harold Arlen, H.Y. Harberg Total Points: 23 taylor - 1 tim - 2 castleoblivion26 - 2 BackwoodsBarbie - 2 someguy - 2 bboat11 - 4 Kanenrá:ke - 10 Narrowly missing out on #1 and coming in at #2 is Trisha's version of "Over The Rainbow". Obviously I think Trisha Yearwood is an amazing vocalist and interpreter, and imo, you can't hear it any better than on her version of this song. She sounds absolutely incredible here. taylor loses her #1, while four others lose their #2. This was always a lock for the top 2, and started closing in on #1 as the last few lists came in. Unfortunately, it just came up 1 point short at the end. This song was famously first recorded by Judy Garland in The Wizard Of Oz. It won the 1940 Oscar for Best Original Song. It has been recorded many, many times. Trisha's friend Martina McBride has also done a notable recording of the song. Other versions include a 1993 mashup of "Over The Rainbow" and "What A Wonderful World" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, Eva Cassidy and Patti Labelle.
