#1 - For The Last TimeWriters: Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood Total Points: 22 tim - 1 BackwoodsBarbie - 1 someguy - 1 Kanenrá:ke - 1 castleoblivion26 - 3 taylor - 6 bboat11 - 9 By just one point, the only original song on the album, "For The Last Time", is our winner. The song was written by Trisha and her husband Garth Brooks. Trisha tells the story that she had the idea of 'for the first time I'm in love for the last time'. Garth helped her by developing a melody to accompany it. Trisha adamantly did not want this song included on the album, as she didn't want to disrespect Frank Sinatra's music. However, upon hearing the song, her producer Don Was insisted that it be included. It was always our #1 throughout the entire process. It got off to a big head start as the first three lists all had it at #1. "Over The Rainbow" started to close in as later submissions came, but it was never able to catch it.

Thanks to everyone who participated! I know this is a different kind of album for Trisha, but hopefully there were some good discoveries made along the way. I will post the next two albums either later tonight, or (most likely) tomorrow.

I never knew that Garth and Trisha wrote "For the Last Time", but now it makes perfect sense why she sang that during the Gershin Prize ceremony for Garth that was on television a few weeks back. It's a beautiful song and I can see why her producer didn't want to exclude it from the album because it really would seem almost incomplete without it. I've also always adored "Over the Rainbow" and admittedly was going in with a bit of a skeptical ear...but her version really blew me away and I found her take quite captivating. Thanks again, someguy, and I'm ready to dig back into some more of her albums!

I could be wrong though. I'm looking forward to diving in further, too! She has such a rich catalog of songs.

Welp. That rankdown happened! Lmao I am SHOCKED to see any song get any sort of consistent support, tbh. The four #1s for the #1 makes me feel like I really missed something....

I’d say it would certainly be worth revisiting that song. To me it has such a classic sound. It could have easily been recorded 49 years before what it was, but doesn’t sound dated to me.

Thinkin' About You was among the first country CD's I ever bought. Definitely excited to revisit because some of those songs are among my favorites, especially the Matraca Berg co-write "XXXs and OOOs (An American Girl)", and the Gretchen Peters co-write "On A Bus to St Cloud"!

First two were Tim McGraws Everywhere and Deana Carters Did I Shave My Legs For This. The others I remember getting around the same time (fall 1997) that I'm not 100% sure on order would be this one, Collin Raye's Direct Hits, Brian White's Between Now and Forever, and Lonestars Crazy Nights. in 1997 I was in 6th grade and I remember bringing in Trisha's album to share a song during music class. The song I played for my class was "XXXs and OOOs (An American Girl)" and we had to type up the lyrics and submit them to the teacher in order to be able to share it with our class and I did the same with "Everywhere" from Tim McGraw. Wasn't allowed to play "Everywhere" but I was able to play "XXXs and OOOS" and got made fun of for typing 3 X's and 3 O's out, my class was full of idiots lmao

You had to type out the lyrics to get your song played, and I did that too. I chose "I Wanna Go Too Far" though, haha.

I’m really looking forward to this round as I think it’ll be two of the strongest albums done back-to-back. Thinkin’ About You also happens to be my favorite album of Trisha’s

I think for this series I will save all of the international/bonus songs for an 'extras' rankdown at the end. I have added these songs to that list though. :)

I've listened to each album once through, but still need to sit down with each a couple more times to hammer out some rankings :)

We've got a few more lists in! Just waiting on one more from someone who expressed interest, and then hopefully I can start this tomorrow at some point. Anyone else who still wants to submit is welcome until I get the last lists.
