So excited to see how Jasper County shakes out being as it is a much, much stronger album than the one just revealed!

I do remember this album getting quite a bit of press back during its release and therefore it actually kind of caught me by surprise to learn later on that only two singles were released from it. As underrated as I think this album is I’m not sure there’s much else on it that would’ve fared any better on country radio, so therefore that may be the reason MCA opted to move on. Nonetheless, it was such a pleasure getting to revisit this album and we all appreciate the host someguy taking us back down memory lane! I'm so glad that you were able to revisit the album with a positive mindset. BackwoodsBarbie said the same thing. Just waiting for taylor 's list, and then we will dive into Jasper County. I sent my list earlier today I believe!

"Sweet Love" just gets stupider and stupider every time I listen to it. The laundry list of activities that build up anticipation is poorly thrown together and filled with statements that make no sense whatsoever. The melody also gets annoying really quickly. This was the correct choice for last place.

"It's Alright" has a really easy-going and likable melody. I had a lot of trouble ranking it. It could have been anywhere from my top 4 to my bottom 3 based on my various moods while listening to this album. In the end it fell lower on my list with repeat listens because it really is a pretty lightweight song that doesn't do much. It's a pleasant listen, but not an engaging listen, if that makes any sense. Lol

Our next three losses are only three points apart, including a tie for #s 5 and 6. Any guesses?

How the f is "Gimme The Good Stuff" so low?! That is one of the best chorus melodies of her entire career! Actually, this song sounds a lot like something Jo Dee Messina would have nailed. That has got to be why I love it so much. The feisty "I'm through" in the pre-chorus, followed by the super catchy "Heeeeey!" has Jo Dee written all over it

"Standing Out In A Crowd" is really good. But at this point I am just going to be like "Why did _______ finish higher than "Gimme The Good Stuff" for every song that is left, so... 😂

The verses for "Gimme The Good Stuff" was fine but the chorus was basically just her singing "heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey gimme the good stuff" and I didn't find it to be melodically engaging either. #sorrynotsorry

Finally "Crowd" leaves. Long overstayed. That was the clear outlier weak link on this album for me and always has. Yawn.

#3 - Trying To Love YouWriters: Beth Nielson Chapman, Bill Lloyd Total Points: 60 BackwoodsBarbie - 2 tim - 3 austin - 3 Troublemaker - 3 .indulgecountry - 4 castleoblivion26 - 4 taylor - 5 fearlessarrow - 5 someguy - 6 Kanenrá:ke - 6 ClevelandRox - 9 bboat11 - 10 "Trying To Love You" is a pretty song, but I always thought that it was a poor choice to release another ballad as a single after "Georgia Rain" (especially when "Pistol" and "Gimme The Good Stuff" were sitting right there!). Sadly, country radio agreed, and the song stalled out at #52 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart, becoming just her second single to miss the top 50 (after 1995's "On A Bus To St. Cloud"). The first time that I saw her live, she had just finished filming the video for this, and I remember her telling the audience all about the shoot.

#2 - Who Invented The WheelWriters: Anthony Smith, Bobby Terry, Craig Wiseman Total Points: 59 Kanenrá:ke - 2 castleoblivion26 - 2 Troublemaker - 2 .indulgecountry - 3 taylor - 3 fearlessarrow - 3 ClevelandRox - 4 tim - 4 bboat11 - 7 austin - 8 someguy - 10 BackwoodsBarbie - 11 Sneaking into second place by 1 point is "Who Invented The Wheel". The song was scheduled to be the third single in the summer of 2006, and even had an adds date that was cancelled at the last minute. It wouldn't have been my choice for the next single but, given its popularity here, it may have done well. It certainly couldn't have done much worse than "Trying To Love You"! The song was originally recorded by one of its co-writers, Anthony Smith, in 2002. Nobody loses a #1, but BackwoodsBarbie sees her last place (finally) exit here. With that, Troublemaker also sees his top 4 be the actual top 4.

#1 - Georgia RainWriters: Ed Hill, Karen Rochelle Total Points: 17 castleoblivion26 - 1 Troublemaker - 1 .indulgecountry - 1 taylor - 1 fearlessarrow - 1 ClevelandRox - 1 tim - 1 BackwoodsBarbie - 1 austin - 1 bboat11 - 2 Kanenrá:ke - 3 someguy - 3 And with that, probably to no one's surprise at all, lead single the album's only true hit "Georgia Rain" takes this in a landslide. The song was released as a single in the Spring of 2005, eventually reaching #15 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart. Trisha first premiered the song at that year's CMT awards, where she was a surprise performer. Her performance was very well received. Trisha has later said that she loved the song when she first heard it, but asked for some slight rewrites to make it more personal to her (including the part about "Jasper County clay", which was where she grew up. She of course went on to name her album that as well. The accompanying video to the song is one of my favourites of Trisha's, and really captures the essence of the song, I think. Mine and Kanenrá:ke's #3 ranks were the song's lowest, and only bboat11 also didn't have it as his #1 (it was his #2). Everyone else, or 75% of the participants, had it as their #1.

And there we go, two more albums complete! Thanks to everyone who participated. I will post the next two albums either tonight or tomorrow. I'm thinking of a mid-September due date, probably September 10th.

"Georgia Rain" is one of my absolute favorite Trisha Yearwood songs and one of my favorite country songs of all time so while it was no surprise it would win here, I'm ecstatic to see it do as well as it did.
