#7 - Under The RainbowWriters: Matraca Berg, Randy Scruggs Total Points: 68 Kanenrá:ke - 3 someguy - 4 Troublemaker - 5 tim - 5 castleoblivion26 - 6 .indulgecountry - 6 austin - 6 BackwoodsBarbie - 8 fearlessarrow - 8 taylor - 8 bboat11 - 9 Next to leave is the first loss that really hurts for me, "Under The Rainbow". The song, a Matraca Berg co-write, has always been a favourite album track of mine in Trisha's catalogue. It was initially a strong top 5 contender, but in a race as tight as 5-7 is in this rankdown, one list can make all the difference, and with our last list, BackwoodsBarbie's, "Under The Rainbow" fell from #5 to #7.

#6 - I Need YouWriters: Jess Brown, Wendell Mobley Total Points: 67 taylor - 4 castleoblivion26 - 4 austin - 5 BackwoodsBarbie - 5 fearlessarrow - 5 bboat11 - 5 tim - 6 someguy - 8 Troublemaker - 8 .indulgecountry - 8 Kanenrá:ke - 9 Finishing one point higher than "Under The Rainbow" is the album's third and final single, "I Need You". The song peaked at #36 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart in the Spring of 1997. While its low peak seems strange sandwiched in the middle of a string of massive hits, and the year of her first CMA Female Vocalist of the Year win, promotion was essentially stopped for the track when "How Do I Live" became ready to release. "I Need You" probably wouldn't have gone all that much higher anyway, but the focus for Trisha and her team certainly switched to "How Do I Live" fairly quickly. In this rankdown, #6 is a fitting finish for the song, as it spent most of the time in the 5-8 range.

That leaves us with two album tracks ("I Want To Live Again" and "Little Hercules") and two big hit singles ("Believe Me Baby (I Lied) and "Everybody Knows") remaining.
Which single will place higher? Which album track will place higher? Can the album tracks take down the singles?
I will finish up either later tonight or tomorrow morning.

I would've liked "I Need You" in the Top 5, damn.
Here's how I hope it goes but know it won't:
1. Believe Me Baby 2. Little Hercules 3. I Want to Live Again 4. Everybody Knows

I cannot imagine the top 2 being anything other than the 2 hits. "Everybody Knows" will probably win, but then again these two hits don't necessarily have an obvious edge over each other imo!
"I Want To Live Again" will probably be the highest album track, although "Hello, I'm Gone" is the best album track here, so it's a bit disappointing to see it get so many low ranks...

There was something about listening to “Under the Rainbow” that really struck a chord with me and how it really fits in with everything going on in the world at the moment. I too wish this had made the top five because it’s such a wonderful song.
While Trisha delivers a great vocal on “I Need You”, I’ve never thought it was a good choice as a single from the album. I’m sure they wanted to go with something a bit slower after the first two singles and this is what they opted to go with. I agree that this likely wouldn’t have performed much better than it did on the charts and so it was probably best to just move on to “How Do I Live”.
I expect the album tracks will leave first with “Little Hercules” at #4 followed by “I Want to Live Again” at #3 and both the singles “Everybody Knows” and “Believe Me Baby (I Lied)” in the top two.

#3 - Little HerculesWriter: Craig Carothers Total Points: 52 taylor - 1 fearlessarrow - 3 someguy - 3 austin - 4 Kanenrá:ke - 5 .indulgecountry - 5 castleoblivion26 - 5 Troublemaker - 6 BackwoodsBarbie - 6 bboat11 - 6 tim - 8 With "I Want To Live Again" out, that leaves "Little Hercules" as our highest ranked album track. Unfortunately, it leaves us here at #3. It was almost always our top album track, though "I Want To Live Again" put up quite a fight. If they were going to go with a slower song as the third single, I wish they had tried this one. I absolutely love the lyrics, and Trisha sings it so well. When I saw her live a few years ago, she randomly played this song, calling it one of her favourites that she has ever recorded. I was really pleasantly surprised that she sang it. taylor becomes the first person to lose a #1, while everyone but tim had it in their top 6.

That leaves us, as expected, with the two big hit singles as our top 2. One got off to an early lead, earning 5 #1 ranks, but eventually fell to #2 and couldn't recover. The other started off a strong #2, also earned 5 #1 ranks, and eventually took the lead and pulled ahead. Both received 10/11 of their ranks in the top 3. Which is which?

"Little Hercules" is a wonderful song and I do feel as though I likely underranked it by a couple of spots. That said, everything I ranked from #6 to #8 is quite fluid depending on my mood and my positions for them likely would've changed given another edit or two lol.

Well, at least my #1 made it to the Top 3 and will be in the album tracks rankdown if we ever do one for her, so I'm happy.
All the other #1s must be at #1 lol (edit: oh and #2)

I'm not at all surprised that the final two songs received the same amount of #1 rankings each, but I do have to give the edge to "Everybody Knows".

#2 - Everybody KnowsWriters: Matraca Berg, Gary Harrison Total Points: 27 fearlessarrow - 1 someguy - 1 austin - 1 Kanenrá:ke - 1 castleoblivion26 - 1 Troublemaker - 2 bboat11 - 2 BackwoodsBarbie - 3 .indulgecountry - 3 tim - 3 taylor - 9 The second single, and title track, "Everybody Knows", finishes at #2. It got off to a really early lead, with the first three lists all having it at #1. Two more people also put it at #1. Unfortunately, it couldn't hold on, as it had a few ranks at #3, and taylor's #9 put it back far enough that it couldn't recover. I've always loved this song, and think it's a great addition to Trisha's hit catalogue. It peaked at #3 on Billboard Country Airplay in February 1997. It was a #1 hit in Canada.

#1 - Believe Me Baby (I Lied)Writers: Larry Gottlieb, Kim Richey, Angelo Total Points: 19 Troublemaker - 1 bboat11 - 1 BackwoodsBarbie - 1 .indulgecountry - 1 tim - 1 taylor - 2 castleoblivion26 - 2 fearlessarrow - 2 someguy - 2 austin - 2 Kanenrá:ke - 4 And that leaves lead single "Believe Me Baby (I Lied)" as our #1. Released in the summer of 1996, it reached the top of the Billboard Country Airplay chart that fall, becoming Trisha's fourth #1 single. Like all of her other #1s, it spent two weeks on top of the charts. This was a worthy winner here. Five people put it at #1, and all but Kanenrá:ke had it in their top 2.

The top 2 dominating was anticlimactic, but really the only correct outcome. Thanks to everyone who participated! Heaven, Heartache and the Power Of Love reveals should start tomorrow!

Good, I'm glad! Lol, I'm very much in the minority but the title track wasn't that good at all imo. "Believe Me Baby" hit much more of the sweet spots with me overall. The correct song won!

I'll get on my list right away and send it here soon! I had planned on doing so earlier today, but Friday is still a college weekday after all--and then the news of RBG hit and I couldn't calm myself down for a solid couple hours.

Expected top two but unexpected outcome! I thought for sure that since "Everybody Knows" bested "Believe Me Baby (I Lied)" in her artist rankdown that it would come out ahead here as well, but I'm happy to be proven wrong since my top song won. Speaking of "Believe Me Baby", I've been holding off long enough on the 1996 Year-End Rankdown in hopes that 1995 would've been done by this point as that song will be featured so I'll be looking forward to seeing how it performs there...anyways I'm going to launch that sometime next year either way. Thanks again, someguy , and I'm really looking forward to the next album reveals!

taylor girl bye I'm so happy "Little Hercules" managed to finish as the highest album track! Both "Everybody Knows" and "Believe Me Baby (I Lied)" are some of my favorite Trisha Yearwood songs so those are rightfully the top two.

I love both "Everybody Knows" and "Believe Me Baby (I Lied)" but I've always liked "Everybody Knows" just a little bit more so I'm a little sad to see that one held out of the top. Regardless it being #2 is still awesome! great job hosting as always someguy! look forward to seeing the results for the next album!

#13 - Help MeWriters: Leslie Satcher, Billie Joe Walker Jr. Total Points: 122 taylor - 6 tim - 9 bboat11 - 10 BackwoodsBarbie - 10 .indulgecountry - 11 castleoblivion26 - 12 fearlessarrow - 12 someguy - 13 austin - 13 Kanenrá:ke - 13 Troublemaker - 13 We kick things off with "Help Me". This song held down last place for the entirety of the submissions, and nothing else ever came close, much like "A Lover Is Forever" from Everybody Knows. It's not a bad song by any means, but to me is definitely the weakest link on a stellar album. Four people lose their last place songs with this loss. Everyone had it in their bottom half, except for taylor, who loses a #6.

#12 - Drown MeWriters: Jessi Alexander, Pat McLaughlin Total Points: 101 .indulgecountry - 5 castleoblivion26 - 5 Kanenrá:ke - 7 austin - 8 taylor - 9 bboat11 - 9 fearlessarrow - 9 someguy - 12 Troublemaker - 12 BackwoodsBarbie - 12 tim - 13 Another 'me' song leaves next, as "Drown Me" exits at #12. It actually wasn't going to be #12, but at the very end it found itself in a tie with our #11 song, and it lost the tiebreaker. I like the song, despite my low rank - it's a fun uptempo that works well with Trisha's vocal style. But on an album this good, something has to be near the bottom. It was co-written by Jessi Alexander, who has written a lot of songs that Trisha has recorded, including "Prizefighter" and this album's "Nothin' 'Bout Memphis". @indulecountry and castleoblivion26 lose their #5, and tim is the next person to lose their last place.

#11 - Sing You Back To MeWriters: Tony Arata, Gene Nelson Total Points: 101 castleoblivion26 - 3 taylor - 3 Kanenrá:ke - 9 austin - 9 someguy - 9 Troublemaker - 10 BackwoodsBarbie - 11 fearlessarrow - 11 tim - 12 bboat11 - 12 .indulgecountry - 12 Yet another 'me' song, "Sing You Back To Me" is the winner of the 101 point tie, and is our #11. (I wonder what that means for "This Is Me You're Talking To" and "Nothin' About You Is Good For Me"). taylor's list ended up moving this song up at the end, putting it into a tie with "Drown Me" and being able to move ahead of. That's something that you'll hear a lot of - taylor's list shook up the rankdown a lot, and made some changes much bigger than this! I think "Sing You Back To Me" is such a beautiful song. Trisha dedicated it to her father, who had just recently died. The song was co-written by Tony Arata, probably best known for writing "The Dance" by Garth Brooks. It proved to be quite polarizing here, as castleoblivion26 and taylor lose their #3s, while five people lose a bottom three.

Oh goodness, I hope I'm glad in the end that I was able to get my hands on the results lol!!!
"Sing You Back to Me" is gorgeous and I'm sad it has to go so soon, but I'm also glad I wound up pushing it up in the end with my final list.

#10 - Nothin' About You Is Good For MeWriter: Karyn Rochelle Total Points: 98 Troublemaker - 3 bboat11 - 6 fearlessarrow - 6 .indulgecountry - 7 castleoblivion26 - 7 tim - 10 someguy - 10 austin - 11 Kanenrá:ke - 12 BackwoodsBarbie - 13 taylor - 13 The 'me' curse continues, as "Nothin' About You Is Good For Me" exits at #10. I hadn't realized there were so many songs with 'me' in the title until I was compiling the results, and saw them all bunched up at the end here. The song was written by Karyn Rochelle, who also has two co-writes on the album ("This Is Me You're Talking To" and "Cowboys Are My Weakness"). This song is a fiery uptempo that Trisha does so well. It reminds me a little of "Pistol" from her previous album, Jasper County. The song was in the middle of the pack for much of the submission process. Troublemaker loses a #3, while two people ( BackwoodsBarbie and taylor) lose their last place, the latter of which pushed this song down to #10 at the very end.
