www.radioandrecords.com/Newsroom/2004_11_19/topstory.aspFriday, Nov. 19, 2004 New Orleans Gets A Radio 'Diva' As WDVW Debuts Citadel Hot AC WCKW/New Orleans has changed its tune and is now Rhythmic AC WDVW. The station is calling itself "Diva 92.3 — music for the diva in you" and is targeting women 25-44. It will feature artists such as Reina, Prince, Justin Timberlake, The Gap Band, La Bouche, C&C Music Factory, Real McCoy, Donna Summer, Madonna and The Bangles. WCKW's air staff remains the same, PD John McQueen tells R&R he plans to add staff after Jan. 1. "When we first put this station together we decided that a one-of-a-kind city like New Orleans needed a one-of-a-kind radio station like Diva 92.3," McQueen said. "The response has been great. We've gotten an amazing response from listeners all day saying how they are excited to hear something new and creative from radio." WDVW kicked off its new format with a launch party at the House of Blues Thursday night featuring a live performance by Reina.

That's what I figured after I read this in Radio-Info.com a little while ago when they said something about a mix of 70s disco and whatever it was they were mixing that I thought was pretty good. BUT, how long will this format last? Let's hope that they do not try to pull another rhythmic oldies-one-year-wonder on them in NO.

Sounds intriguing. I wish them good luck with their new format.

This one sounds interesting. When I saw the name I thought this was going to be an all female artists station.

The website is really colorful. And there are pictures of a lot of female singers. Lots of pink.

let's hope this format takes off. There's a big hole in music that isn't being filled currently because record execs don't see a radio station for it. Finally we might have space for artists like Anastacia on American radio. Just a thought.
