White Reaper beat this on the final update, unfortunately. Hoepfully next week with Living in a Ghost Town falling and hopefully Honeybee loses its bullet too and gets out of the top 10 so it can go recurrent-land.

Should mention that this is finally higher on MB than BB now, where it's #20 and guaranteed a space in the year-end. Never thought I would say this. That's partly because most of the non-commercials have dropped this while several of the commercials are thankfully, finally getting around to this. This problem is what screwed "On the Floor" by Perfume Genius from a spot from the next AAA RD (and also due to bad timing as it was new and active for two weeks after first falling out)
18 16 PHOEBE BRIDGERS Kyoto 261 239 22 0.158
Still hoping for a top 15 placing on MB at least, maybe top 10. I hope it can make MB's YE too.

It lasted a while!! Wish it was Top 10, but I’ll take what I can get.
Who knows, maybe “Motion Sickness” will become a sleeper hit soon. Apparently, it has its own TikTok dance now.

So, 2nd radio single suggestions? "ICU" or "I Know the End" for me.
Also, happy 1/2 year-anniversary to this song.

So, 2nd radio single suggestions? "ICU" or "I Know the End" for me. Also, happy 1/2 year-anniversary to this song. Probably “ICU”. It’s been in some ads and seems like the most obvious choice. Part of me wants them to say “f**k it” and push “Graceland Too” to AA & Country, but I know it won’t happen “I Know The End” is awesome, but they’d have to significantly edit it. Edit: I just realized the vast majority of the posts in this thread are just me & Daryl...The Phoebe Bridgers Pulse Fan Army is 2 soldiers strong 💪🏻

I’m definitely a big fan of her, I’ve got both her albums on vinyl and she’s one of my most streamed artists of the year so far. I’d say ICU is definitely what they’ll push next as a single if they push anything. I’d love for it to be Chinese Satellite but I don’t see it happening.

She got 4 noms at the Grammys yesterday, for Best New Artist, Best Alternative Album, and Best Rock Song/Performance for this song. Maybe they should send this for alternative adds with the revived hype. If Kaplan wants to pick buzzy artists, this is a great example of one - she already has a sizeable fan base, the song is not too artsy, and it's radio-friendly. Just look at what's happening with "Sofia" now, even though she doesn't have the same streaming numbers, there clearly is hype for her. (Another artist I hope Kaplan picks up is Men I Trust, another bedroom pop artist similar to Clairo and boy deleted.) Phoebe needs to be recognized at alternative radio too. It should be noted that this was already an Entercom pick of the week, prior to the mass regionalization works at Entercom - meaning this would've at least charted if it was picked today.

Yeah it's definitely odd that artists like Beabadoobee and Clairo get alt recognition but Phoebe is uh AAA exclusive so far? This one has grown on me a lot over the last few months though, I'd like to see it or something from Punisher on alt for sure

An AllAccess email today confirms they're "relaunching" this to give this a push at Alt, on the back of her GRAMMY nominations.

I want this at the very least to enter Billboard for even a week. It seems like she’s getting a bit more attention lately so I hope that helps it out.

You know there have been complaints about reduction in quality by artists changing up their sound? Well, this averts that trope. In fact, it's more accessible than her other stuff which could be too slow for others. And it's catchier and has more of a rock vibe than her other stuff while maintaining the vibe from her other stuff. (Regarding the rock part, besides maybe Better Oblivion Community Center) This is proof that it is possible to change up your sound and still sound good without going the Imagine Dragons route.

No word on an adds day yet (I personally suspect they'll put her up against Deftones on January 26th than have her try to take on Kings of Leon on the 12th or fight for space on the jammed slate that's impacting on the 19th).

I do not really understand what this 'trope' would be, an how you can identify it with music being as subjective as it is. For one, if you really liked Phoebe Bridger's slow stuff, but do not like the 'more accessible, catcher, rock-vibier' 'Kyoto' you could totally make the point that Phoebe Bridgers did 'go the Imagine Dragons route'. For the record, I like basically all of her output, just playing devil's advocate here. This is true but at the very least there's nothing in my opinion here that is akin to the Imagine Dragons route besides it being more uptempo. Not to be Green Day, but there's no hi hats, no dubstep like sounds, or weird sound effects, whatever. So while I can see the arguments against my post, I disagree that this sounds like ID.

But then I am genuinly interested in what current acts did change their sound to sound like ID that are being complained about so much that it has become a trope? As I can mainly think of acts that also did change their sound, but that also still do not sound like Imagine Dragons. Maybe ID is not the best example, but the general trope is that the artist goes for a poppier sound that does not work. You find more of these in the active rock format now. Examples include Thirty Seconds to Mars' last album, Pop Evil's "A Crime to Remember" and "Work" and Papa Roach's "Elevate".

Added by Kaplan, so this will most likely chart on alternative next week or so.

Added by Kaplan, so this will most likely chart on alternative next week or so. It should be noted that the only add was WNYL - however, as WNYL's playlist covers 7pm-6am of every Entercom Alt, that will easily get "Kyoto" somewhere in the range of 130-150 spins alone. So yeah this will crack the top 50 next week.

I remember Kaplan also supported this the first time around. Credit where it's due.

phoebe played at a winery in sonoma county opening for bright eyes and i desperately tried to go
i totally could've, too, but couldn't legally drive and never found someone willing to go with me
it was $50, i am going to regret this for the rest of my life

My local Alternative iHeartRadio station hinted that they will be embracing "Kyoto" soon.
