Deservedly so.

Overall, “Candy Shop” was bigger as a song in every metric.

It sold 50K Digital units that week (and did so for the next several weeks), the most downloads sold in a single week at the time, and would surpass Mario’s “Let Me Love You” the following week to be the number one airplay song in the U.S with 145M AI.

At the time, near then end of “Candy Shop’s” run, I personally thought “BOBD” was going to leapfrog to #1 over “Hate It Or Love It” but then “Hollaback Girl” flew in.

Jordan then signed to Def Jam records and Uptown records signed Soul For Real instead that same year...

Jordan’s “This Is How We Do It” went to number one after “Take A Bow” as opposed to “Candy Rain”, jumping #6 to #1, and Heavy D (who produced “Candy Rain”) was FURIOUS.

I still love a lot of these songs.

That #16 peak for "It's Like That" is disappointing. Its component peaks didn't line up which hurt its Hot 100 peak, though it's understandable everything was spread out because Mariah was on a comeback. "ILT" ultimately peaked at #10 in downloads, but that peak came 6 weeks after its Hot 100 peak (it wasn't even top 40 in downloads then!). It peaked at #14 on Hot 100 Airplay, but its Rhythmic peak of #9 happened just before its Top 40 peak of #17 (but again, before its downloads peak). Had all of that lined up better, the song likely would have gone top 10.

The song is the first to post double-digit weeks at No. 1 on Streaming Songs since Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" (featuring Billy Ray Cyrus), which ran up a record 20 weeks on top beginning last April. The track rebounds 14-7 (returning to its peak) on Digital Song Sales, up 10% to 11,000 sold in the week ending March 5, while holding at its No. 8 high on Radio Songs, up less than 1% to 63.4 million all-format airplay audience impressions in the week ending March 8.

Dua Lipa's "Don't Start Now" rises 5-3 on the Hot 100, marking a new high for the song and the singer-songwriter, who earns her first top three Hot 100 hit. It holds at No. 2 on Radio Songs (95.3 million, up 5%), while gaining by 5% to 18.4 million streams and 10% to 12,000 sold.

Post Malone's "Circles" descends 3-4 on the Hot 100, after three nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1, as it adds an 11th week at No. 1 on Radio Songs (101.1 million, essentially even week-over-week).
