I have to imagine that testing for this single is amazing as that is the only thing that can explain this song's surge on the charts this month as this has gained over 400 spins the past 2 weeks and nearly 2 million in audience on Mediabase when this time of year a lot of singles especially once you get below the Top 25 are pretty much not moving at all.
Also this song entered the Top 30 on Billboard chart at #30. I will not be shocked if this single can make it all the way to #1 with how it's been acting lately, it's just a shame it took so long to happen

Love this one. Have been rooting for it since it was released. Thought it’d be an uphill climb considering how long it took “Homemade” to peak, but thrilled this looks like a potential lock for #1. His label change was arguably one of the best things he could have done for his career, cause I feel Sony was starting to move him to the back burner for other artists.

Entered the Billboard Top 20 this past week and enters the Mediabase Top 20 at #19 with a bullet of 211. With the way this has been acting since late last year I would be shocked if this missed out on being a #1.

So happy to see this one doing well. Been a favorite of mine since the day it came out (was that in 2018?) and I believe it is the best single of Jake's career. I LOVE it when Jake strips things down, like he also did with his 2016 album cut "LAX" and "What We Ain't Got". I wish he would record more of these in the future.

I've gotten soooo tired of this one, but I'm glad it's finally turned into a hit for him, especially since it's moving the needle quite a bit now.

What a fantastic era this has been for Jake, which makes me very happy. Kinda wild that the worst performing song was still the most popular, at least when you look at music video stats. I have no idea what the stream numbers are since i don’t use spotify so maybe this doesn’t tell the whole story. But dang thats a huge difference here. Current youtube views for all 4 videos: I was Jack - 2.9M Down to the Honkytonk - 37M Homemade - 5.5M Made for You - 8.1M

That song was so refreshing coming from Jake at the time, and sounded so darn good on the radio. Still one of my favorites of the past few years

I love seeing those numbers to show that DTTH was the biggest hit from this album, because it's by far my favorite (love all 3 though). Definitely a shame radio didn't treat it as well as the other 3 singles. Can't wait for new music from Jake since this album was so good (or at least the singles from it were).

I'm kinda over this song at this point. I do like it but ready for new music too
though I'm a bit apprehensive for new music too because this era has reminded me of how Barefoot Blue Jean Night went for him and look what happened after that album. Hopefully he stays the course in making great music here and doesn't do what he did last time. I know he's on a different label and has more control so hopefully that helps matters here

Greetings from Jake should’ve matched his Barefoot Blue Jean Night album as far as #1 singles goes. “Down To The Honky Tonk” should’ve been a #1 hit imo. Jake to me is one of the most underrated artists in country music. He should have over 10 #1 singles imo. This should no doubt be a 2 week #1 especially since this is his push week.

This is #1 in Canada as well, but after 10 weeks on the chart (50 weeks in the US...) Always love this shorter chart runs, but this was quite remarkable, moved even faster than Luke Combs or Thomas Rhett.

These long chart runs have all but dampened any interest I used to have whatsoever in following the charts on a weekly basis. That said, this is shaping up to be a huge hit for Jake although I admit I’ve already grown rather tired of hearing it lol.

I started updating mediabase adds in Canada country thread only a few weeks ago, and I don't recall the movement of this particular song, so the following is partially based on my speculation. While the song was introduced to the radio at the same timing as in the US, many stations started adding it only around 10-12 weeks ago. It entered the chart just in time for label push in the US, and climbed up the chart in a monstrous speed (50-42-41-37-32-27-26-13-3-1). 2 unique rules about Canadian Country radio are - Strict recurrent rule (Songs below #30 after 20 wks/below #20 after 30 wks go to recurrent) - Canadian Content Rule (35% is Canadian) Not exactly sure whether these rules are to do with this particular movement of this song, but definitely creates some interesting chart runs for some songs, comparing with US Chart runs. For example, a song - gets added too late to reach #1 (Lady by Brett Young) - gets added too early and sent to recurrent, failing to gain momentum within 20 wks (Drinking Alone by Carrie) - gets added around the same timing as US, but peaks earlier (Almost Maybes by Jordan Davis)

Regardless of when it was sent to radio, a 10-week chart run is impressive, especially now seeing it jumped from #26 to #3 in just two weeks.

I wish there was a rule where songs couldn’t get the iHeartRadio hourly play treatment. The Airplay chart was great back in the 90’s and 2000’s when songs didn’t get the treatment. Brett Young’s new single for example got the hourly treatment last week and debuted at #37. This week he plummeted almost off the chart completely. How much longer will it take him to re-enter the top 40 now?

This is far from an original take, but.. wouldn't the quickest solution be to diversify the billboard panel to the point where it was not dominated by two massive media conglomerates?

That’s the point I was trying to make. I can understand A-listers like Luke Bryan, Thomas Rhett, Luke Combs, etc. getting the iHeartRadio treatment because their songs usually will stay right in the top 40. When you’re giving artists that are not close to A-list like Brett Young and Chris Lane the same treatment they usually just fall completely off the charts or out of the top 40 together.

I've never been a Jake Owen fan but in my opinion this is one of the best songs out right now.
