If Dua is a culture vulture DaBaby is the outright sellout who worked with her. And Levitating isn't the first, second, or even third time he's hopped on a pop single/remix for coins (Panini, Truth Hurts, and My Oh My all come to mind) so he can go right on and fuck himself with that.
His chances at another pop collab or a pop hit of his own are probably ruined (wouldn't be surprised if he lost a bag or got threatened with losing one over this and that's why he's having a stupid fit now and digging an even deeper hole), but urban will rally to 'support' him for the same reason there are asswipes who still support Torey, Chris Brown, Bill Cosby, etc. Toxic masculinity masked as racial solidarity. Ultimately he won't feel the full consequences of his words nearly as much as he deserves.
It would be quite the statement if Dua (and by Dua, I really mean Warner) removed the Levitating remix from all streaming and sales services, but tbh I don't know if I see Warner being willing to go that far. Dua herself would probably be quite fine doing it if it were entirely left up to her.

What culture is Dua apparently a vulture of? Like... you can't just throw names around for the sake of them. What exactly is she being accused of?

Proud to say that I have never once streamed the remix, simply because it sucks! Same! ๐

Apparently adding a rapper on the remix of an already released pop song makes Dua a culture vulture? Letโs not forget that DaBaby obviously agreed to jump on the song. Heโs just pissed that heโs being called out by Dua for his homophobic comments and his immature response shows that he is trash. Heโs deflecting by trying to throw Dua under a non-existent bus.

Minutes ago I was listening to the Dua Lipa f/ DaBaby version on the radio (I wonder if they'll remove it soon?) such a fun song, guess I'm going to apply the "separate art from the person" rule, ugh, I mean, from him I only listen to My Oh My, Levitating and Rockstar, not much else :s

Also, Iโm curious to see the Spotify numbers for the remix throughout the week.

I don't know how Spotify got it wrong but that's false... SYL spent 371 days....

Just last night I heard the Levitating f/ DaBaby version on NY's Z100, curious to see what's radio gonna do... I'm guessing that Radio is probably going to start playing the original Dua Lipa version instead but I could very well be wrong...

Love Again probably will be the We're Good 2.0 at this point Lol I seriously doubt that, I think that "Love Again" will become a significantly bigger hit on Pop radio than "We're Good".

I doubt we'll see a switch on radio. Some stations might switch to the album version (which is already in HAC and AC radio), most won't care. Wasn't Go Crazy a #1 radio hit? And Chris Brown is a bigger mess than CryBaby.

Ugh. This is so sad. DaBaby had some awful comments but Levitating remix has been THE song my friends and I have rallied around the past year for our senior year of college. It has so many meaningful memories and now it'll probably leave a nasty taste. "Left foot, right foot Levitating, Pop Stars Dua Lipa with Dababy" is so iconic.

Somebody on Twitter suggested a remix with Megan and Lil Nas and now any other suggestion is gonna seem lackluster to me.

His follow up comments remain crass. Like come on, sheโs not a โculture vultureโ - itโs a massive hit for them both and it likely would have been for her without him, itโs not like she was struggling beforehand. Iโll happily call out rent-a-rapper BS but heโs just being a defensive asshole.

I couldn't give a fuck about the comments (tbh I just fucking laughed, like what?) but the fact that he's being an absolute twit about it is the most irritating part about it.
The remix sucked anyway, sorry! He added nothing to it so I'm fine if Dua does a remix with someone else, or if they just drop the remix entirely.

I just realized they'll have to submit this version to the GRAMMYs this year since she won for Pop Vocal Album last year... Unless they ditch it all together and opt for some "live" version to compete in the Pop Solo category. I believe for ROTY and SOTY the solo studio version is still eligible?

Somebody on Twitter suggested a remix with Megan and Lil Nas and now any other suggestion is gonna seem lackluster to me. Megan would've eaten this beat alive anyways. It sucks because I really loved this version (as of the last time I updated my personal chart--dated at the end of April--it was a 2-week #1 and will likely log at least one or two more weeks at the top), but these comments and his response are atrocious. Back to the original version I go--unless/until Megan or Lil Nas replaces his part.

As a frequent BooHooMAn shopper I have to ask who was buying his collection anyway? That shit was ugly AF and I personally hate the way he dresses. Quavo's collab/collection with them was way more fashionable.

I still find it impressive that this song has been in the conversation so much lately. Nobody is dragging Camila into it about "My Oh My". That means this song is still relevant to a lot of people... and this originally peaked in January! Crazy.
I don't think they'll remove the remix but I don't expect her to incorporate it into her live shows. Thank god the original is also A+.

The industry is finally waking up to the fact that DaBaby is a liability. I will side eye any artist who still fucks with him. Future Nostalgia was such a flawless era for Dua before this. What a damn shame.
Also, this:

Well, that's probably the best thing that could happen to Camila this week tbh. I just realized they'll have to submit this version to the GRAMMYs this year since she won for Pop Vocal Album last year... Unless they ditch it all together and opt for some "live" version to compete in the Pop Solo category. I believe for ROTY and SOTY the solo studio version is still eligible? Unless they've changed the rules again (which is entirely possible, I'm exhausted with keeping up) a recording is no longer eligible for any Grammy nominations if its parent album has been nominated for or won a category. She will either have to submit the remix or release a last-minute live/acoustic version. I'm kind of surprised she didn't include one on the Levitating EP; she released that in November so any new version from it would have been eligible, and most of her singles have live or stripped down versions. Still sucks bc alternate versions that are obviously rushed out for the sake of nominations never get ROTY/SOTY nods, only genre ones. The remix had the best chance of major nods before this.

This song is still really big, not just because it's still #3 on the Hot 100 but in a cultural sense as well. It pops on at the bar I work at and people sing along like it's Sweet Caroline, which doesn't happen often to many modern songs unless it's something like Uptown Funk. Also it's still pretty big on TikTok.

So now that it's clear this was all a stunt for the new DaBaby single can we let Dua breathe?
Terrible marketing move tho. You just don't show your homophobia like that, CryBaby, not even for a hit. I predict the song will make zero noise.

Who cares about DaBaby's latest generic flow over another Pirates of the Caribbean beat, if this was "marketing" dude seriously fumbled the bag by burning bridges with pop collaborators. Levitating may be his last verse he throws over a pop song.

Apple Music replaced the remix for the original version on their editorial playlists.
