Definitely a lot better though they messed up Missy's part cause it's drowned out in the production

The album version's a bit too slow. That's why I thought, based on album versions, Madonna would have been a better fit for "Hallucinate." I'm glad the "Levitating" mix isn't a sunny-sounding production. A little more variety in sound throughout wouldn't have been bad, though , overall, thumbs up to The Blessed.

The remix is awful? Sucks the life out of the original and doesn't go anywhere. Honestly really disappointed. :(

omg some of y'all really haven't gone out to a club in your lives and it shows :kii: Maybe I wasn't included in the "omg some of y'all!111!1" but I spent years in NYC going to clubs in the early 2000s when I was in college and again when I lived there for four years recently, as well as clubs in Boston and Vegas and overseas. Maybe times have changed or whatever constitutes clubs in San Francisco play stuff like this, but...nah.

Awful remix. Not what I expected AT ALL. Feels like a completely different song.

I think some folks are just forgetting / never learned what a "remix" is supposed to be. Lately we keep getting these "remixes" with new artists tacked on that are just there to boost a song's chart performance (What's Poppin, Good as Hell, Truth Hurts, Say So, Panini, A Lot.... you feel me?). This is a club remix. It's in the name. It's not meant to keep the same production and instrumentals, obviously. (Oh and hey I may be younger but I've had clubbing experiences in NYC, SF, and Europe babe don't count me out!)

The problem isn't that it's a club remix. It's just that it's not good. It doesn't go anywhere and is so dead. Even parts like "yeah, yeah, yeah" in the pre chorus, chorus and bridge should have been kept to give it some life. It feels like its building and building and then.. nothing. There is no pay off anywhere. I can't imagine dancing to it - it's so dead and is too fast

It was a great place for bougie and sophisticated House music.

It goes nowhere, it doesn't build into anything exciting and the features added little. It's not even Madonna or Missy at fault here, it's the production, so I'm hoping Blessed Madonna doesn't drop a full album of this with Club Future Nostalgia because... eh. The comments on Youtube are far more negative than I'd have expected as well. The original is probably my favorite Future Nostalgia track, so I'll stick to that one. Agree with this. It's not even Madge or Missy that suck here; it's Blessed Madonna's production. She turned the original on its head and delivered a complete dud. YUCK!

Do I prefer the remix to the original? No, not at all. "Levitating" is one of my favorites on the original album, and is a much better listen when it's playing in the background while you're alone in your room. That being said, is it a good remix? Yeah! It did what I normally would expect from a remix. All this complaining on here is too much imo. I don't think it's "so dead" and "too fast" (how can it be both?) or needs the elements from the original song to work. And I'm sure this whole project will sound better as a unit.

The "yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah" was the best part of the song, why did they give it the shaft? -_-

The Blessed Madonna sucked all of the life and nuances the song had, seriously. This chorus needed to be A LOT more explosive. I even like the verses and everything, but the only indication of even having a chorus is on the vocals, the beat does not change one bit throughout the entire song.
Madonna and Missy sound SO GOOD on the song though, but I'd love to see other remixes of this collab

There’s many club remixes of songs that I really enjoy but this one just isn’t it. I don’t mind the addition of Madonna and Missy, but the production is very bland. I would’ve preferred the remix to be a more elevated version of the original production.

I'm still confused about Normani's leg being on the cover of the album... next radio singe could be "If It Ain't Me" perhaps?

I don't think it's "so dead" and "too fast" (how can it be both?) or needs the elements from the original song to work. And I'm sure this whole project will sound better as a unit. Dead in the sense that it’s empty. Off the top of my head it was just the vocals, the Male vocals, the original drums and that weird warpy kind of synth that doesn’t change at all. No extra layering as it goes on. Just there. Yes, the original is slow, but I think that’s what adds to the groove. The claps make the verses fun, the chorus has heavy vocals with the glistening synth and the yeah, yeah, yeah vocals. The actual vocals are a bit simple, but the Male vocals add as a good harmony. In the remix, they’re separated. Of course the remix doesn’t need to retain a lot of the original to be good. But if it’s going to remove good stuff from the original, I think it needs to make up for it with either new good stuff or a justified reason for removing it. The song just goes on and on and on. Plus, some of the lyrics were changed and they are very clunky sounding. And it’s too fast. So I think it can be both dead and fast at the same time. It just sucks. And you disagree. And that’s fine, that’s the beauty of music - it’s all subjective. And the original still exists so.. yeah. So I’m happy you like it, but I couldn’t disagree more with you lol - and that’s fine too. No point going around in circles on this anymore

No point going around in circles on this anymore I like this explanation better, now that you're pointing out the things that don't work for you. I'm not too big on high profile remixes in general (never been) so I had my expectations set very very low for this, perhaps that's why I'm fine with it. I wouldn't even say I "like" it, it just met my expectations. Seeing Madonna and Missy, we were all concerned about how this would perform on the radio, but it's clear that this won't be serviced to pop. I'm still curious to see what's next.

Love Madonna’s vocal on this and Missy’s verse fit perfectly. Obviously the album version is superior but I’m all the way here for this club vibe they’re serving!

I'm glad that the underwhelming remix was given to my least favorite track of the album Reported.

Yeah...
I absolutely love the original. Didn't really know what to expect with this remix, but even this is not it. I was expecting something more upbeat, not anticlimactic regarding production and tone. This is boring, it's a literal 180 from the original.
Twitter is having a meltdown & I guess I can see their point? But, the original is still there (thank goodness), we still have a music video to see, and the original will apparently be sent to US radios as the NEXT official state-wide single.
I'm listening to it on repeat trying to make it grow on me but it's coming. Gonna need much more time with it that's all.

As with most releases, especially with female acts, there's going to be positives and negative reactions. Probably won't impact any success it will see, however fleeting. Numerous instances of a track getting a bad reaction and still faring well- not that this will get near the top of the charts, though it may make an appearance.

Now that I listened to this a few times, I realized why this feels so familiar. The bassline bears a striking resemblance to the one heard in the Armand Van Helden remix of CJ Bolland's "Sugar Is Sweeter."
