And just like that Halsey began working herself into the country industry. A very nice little track!

Please push this as the next single since Homecoming Queen? is stuck in the middle of the water on Country radio atm.

Not a country song, but it's okay, I guess.

This is great! Halsey sounds great here too! This should be her 'The Bones' to reintroduce her to Pop and Hot AC audiences.

This is the most popular track from the album on AM as it sits at #160 on the all genre chart. Maybe they should focus on promoting this.

Next single. Impacts April 20, per Gary Trust.

I wouldn't send this to country radio, but then again I don't trust country radio to play her songs that are actually country so possibly it's a good choice.

Sending this to country is the wrong move, imo. It’ll probably do well because her poppy songs usually do, but the Kenny Chesney duet is a country hit waiting to happen.

This was sent to country radio this morning. The official add date is April 20.
Two versions were sent out - the album version and a single version that tones down some of the pop elements of the song.

Interesting. This would not have been my choice; its very bold.
The obvious choice is Half of My Hometown.

Honestly just send it to pop radio since the intention of this track is probably for pop radio/"crossover airplay" anyway. Seem backward to tune down pop elements to suit country radio listeners' taste.

I loved "homecoming queen?" but not a big fan of this.. sounds like second-rate Taylor Swift and definitely not like something aimed at Country radio.

As a song itself I don't care for this song, mainly because I find Halsey to be a mediocre at best vocalist, and the production is a bit much. I will say "Half Of My Hometown" is the hit of the album on all angles. This song is selling very well, but it is a bit riskier where as "Half Of My Hometown" is connecting a little bit less but MUCH more radio friendly.
Sad Black River is not gonna hold on to "Homecoming Queen" for at least one more week since it was gonna peak in the Top 15 on both charts. this upcoming week

Not surprised this was picked, the hit potential is undeniable even if it doesn’t sound Country at all. They are obviously hoping this will be the next The Bones or Meant To Be after the lackluster performance of homecoming queen.

They picked the wrong duet from the album.

"Half Of My Hometown" and "Hole In The Bottle" would've been my first choices to radio but this sounds like a hit to me as well and it seems obvious that they're going to hope for a crossover here.

Half of my Hometown was right there. Hole in the Bottle would’ve worked as well.
I need to hear the other version but I don’t see this doing well.

I had a strong feeling this would be the second single and I think this is one of the best choices they could've made. Saying this is too poppy for country radio seems pretty ironic. She went pretty stripped down and traditional with the lead single and it didn't get enough traction with radio to reach higher conversions, so I think "The Other Girl" is smart move on all accounts because it's more modern, has crossover potential, and it being a duet with Halsey is going to be a boost right there for her reach. The more I listen to it, the more I can easily see this fitting right in on country radio just fine. It doesn't stand out any more than some of the singles churned out by Sam Hunt, Thomas Rhett, Maren Morris, Dan + Shay, etc.
"Hole in the Bottle" and "Half of My Hometown" are high on my list for single options from this album, but I don't think either of them are exponentially better choices right now. I think "The Other Girl" will move the needle at streaming more than either of those two would, especially "Hometown" which I think is a little too lowkey as a follow-up to HQ?

I guess it's ironic, but I feel like "The Other Girl" is like the extreme end of the pop spectrum of country music, where as "Homecoming Queen" is on the traditional side and "Half Of My Hometown" is the perfect balance of the two hence why I thought it would be the best single.

"Half of My Hometown" sounds like the kind of single that could test decently at country radio, but it's not going to move the needle the way "The Other Girl" will (and already has -- it's already putting up impressive streaming numbers on Spotify). She also has the CMT Crossroads for promotion of it. I love "Hometown," but it's not the hit she needs right now. "The Other Girl" is basically in the same place on the spectrum as "Miss Me More" and we saw how well that went over for her, especially after also following an under-performing slower song ("I Hate Love Songs"). "Hole in the Bottle" is the only song on the album that I could see truly 'smashing' right now on the heels of HQ?, but I think that the Halsey duet is more likely to be even bigger (and it's already streaming better).

What’s funny is that Halsey’s current single more like a country song than this does. But I do like this and hope that it proves to be the radio hit Kelsea needs to keep the momentum for this era going.

Finally, they’re moving on to a new song. I feel like HQ has been on the charts for months.

This is a good song and a great choice. I expect this to be massive and dominate the Hot Country Songs chart for like 10 weeks. Musically it reminded me of “Meant To Be”, how it’s really poppy but not too obnoxious for country radio.

Just noticed that this was going to be the next single. Music Row has 5 different versions of this song. One of them is labeled as the "country mix" and has what sounds like either steel guitar or slide guitar playing throughout the song. In fact, the steel/slide guitar enters at the very first note. Then there is another version that has a driving acoustic rhythm guitar that is brought to the forefront throughout the song. It makes it sound quite a bit different.
Love this song and hope it does well. It was a shame about Homecoming Queen not doing well on the charts.
