I can't think of anything to write for Tammy Wynette, lol. She had a long career (especially for a woman) and was married to our #29–George Jones–until 1975.
3 people lose a top 10.

Lmao I knew Tammy wouldn't beat George by much! She suffers from the same problem he does, in that her career had pretty much been long over before many of us were even alive. She is certainly responsible for some iconic jams like "Stand By Your Man" and "'Til I Can Make It On My Own", but tbh the only thing I really know about her is that she is cited as an inspiration for like all of my favorite female superstars. From what I have heard, she seems to have a better voice than most women did in the '70s and '80s.
She is another one who I would gladly participate in a rankdown for! I would love to be forced to familiarize myself with her work!

Yeah I didn't really know how to rank people like George Jones and Tammy Wynette that I'm not familiar with a ton - I just went off the few songs I knew so I just don't feel like my ranks did any justice but oh well that's just what it is.

By that I just mean that she isn't somebody I've had much occasion to check out on my own yet, and something like a rankdown that kinda pushes me into action could be the only way to rectify that situation in a timely manner ;)

She may not have gotten any top 10 ranks, but she just kept raking in those top 20s! Pam Tillis had a respectable career in the 90s, earning 13 top ten singles (though only 1 number one). She is the daughter of country singer Mel Tillis, which led her down the path of country music.

at George Jones being so polarizing... I have been alive and aware of the world for a quarter of a century, and have only heard like 5 George Jones songs that I know of. I cannot even imagine how old you would have to be to be familiar enough with his material to put him at #1 on a list that is this strong... I’ll be 30 this august and I know tons of his music but I couldn’t put him anywhere higher than #10 but nowhere lower either

I also want to catch up on last night. Kenny Rogers is just somebody that I have never managed to become a fan of... I think that most of it just comes down to his material predating most of my experience with the genre. But also his voice is adequate at best, and really only sounds great when the song allows it to, whereas it should be the other way around imo. Also, after this reveal I finally chose to do his rankdown, so there's that! Tanya Tucker is also somebody who just simply existed before I was really alive, and like austin mentioned, while she herself is an icon, her material has not really aged into the iconic status that you would expect for somebody who has been around as long as she has. I also did her entire rankdown last night thanks to this reveal, and was SHOCKED by how much I enjoyed it!!!! I have always found her voice pretty cringe-worthy, tbh, and have not really enjoyed any of her songs that we've heard in year-end rankdowns yet, hence my low rank. But for some reason listening to her material in one big push last night I really found myself getting into it! Definitely a whole bunch of songs that I wish I had known sooner!! Willie Nelson... Again, his career largely happened before I was even born. He face and braids alone are iconic institutions in country music, but most of his material does absolutely nothing for m unfortunately... His voice sounds pitchy and weak to me, and not just because he's been old for my entire live. Even in his younger recordings sound that way to me. Luke Combs is decent so far, but he hasn't earned his stripes yet. He absolutely deserves to be this low, for the time being. I have been impressed by all of his hits so far, and love hearing him on the radio...but have almost zero interest in him as an artist because of his inability to make a standout album. His album rankdowns have confirmed to me that he is missing something essential that would make him a great artist. I cannot quite put my finger on what it is... But with most country artists I can put on an album and love almost every single song, but with his albums I can listen to them 10 times in a row and still not remember how any song goes except for the singles

Garth Brooks is THE divisive figure on Pulse. Personally, I think he's both overrated and over-hated. I love his '90s output, but I think it's safe to say that his newer stuff can't hold a candle to that. Plus he did NOT deserve EOTY in 2019. 5 people lost a top 10 here.

Now if Garth Brooks would put his music up on streaming services (or even digital download ffs) I will gladly reconsider my rank but I’m not about to go buy CDs just to listen to him in this age.
Edit: I guess there’s Prime Music or Amazon Music or whatever it’s called but even then

Not defending Garth, but if you have Amazon Prime you can listen to his hits (and his first two albums iirc) on Amazon's streaming service.

I'm not surprised to see Pam miss the top half, especially since Lorrie couldn't make it. Both of those ladies belong to the era of female artists that was famous right before the wave of female artists that Pulse fangirls for. Several of us are always up in here drooling over Faith, Shania, Martina, Reba, Sara, Trisha, Terri, Jo Dee, Carrie, etc. In other words, the ladies who were most famous in the late-'90s and '00s. Pam and Lorrie, alongside the likes of Suzy Bogguss, Kathy Mattea, Wynonna, Patty Loveless, etc. all kinda landed right before that big female surge, and fell into obscurity by the time most of us were old enough to pay attention.
I have come to love people like Patty Loveless and Pam Tillis thanks to their rankdown series so far. Pam Tillis has some ICONIC songs from the early '90s, and it is a real shame that she fell into obscurity when the big female surge happened. She was still young enough to where she probably should have enjoyed a good 3-4 album eras of relevance longer than she did, carrying her popularity into the mid '00s, in a perfect world. "Maybe It Was Memphis", "Spilled Perfume", "When You Walk In The Room", "One Of Those Things", "Don't Tell Me What To Do", etc. are all easily among the best female releases from their various years!

I’m very familiar with Tammy Wynette’s hits. My mom played her just as often as Reba, Trisha, Faith, etc. when I was growing up.

I am glad that Garth was at least able to escape the bottom 10. He has a personality and business acumen that rubs people the wrong way for sure, but there is also no denying that he is one of the most influential entertainers we will ever encounter. And the bulk of his big hits in the '90s are straight FIRE!!! There are several forgotten songs between the big hits that are not really worth revisiting, and once his quality fell off he was never able to turn it back around, so there is pretty much no reason to listen to anything since. But when he was on, he was ON! He is also somebody whose voice doesn't translate very well to the studio, imo, but he is a surprisingly strong vocalist live!

Wasn't online much the past few days so I'm just now getting to the results that have been posted up to this point, and I'm liking the way this is going so far! Definitely pleasantly surprised that so many of the artists I care minimally for are gone already, namely Garth, Willie, and Stapleton. I don't think any of the reveals so far have surprised me at all, either. It's gone pretty much how I would've expected.
