“Every Girl in This Town” is a certified JAM. I’m not too familiar with the rest of her discography aside from a few higher hits, though.

Oop! New page starter, yay! Sneaking into the Top 20 and going out first tonight is Trisha Yearwood. I love Trisha's voice; it is so rich and strong and powerful. She is in a class of lucky beginners--her debut single "She's In Love With The Boy" is the one that broke her out! It's also gone on to become her signature song. Among her other biggest hits are "Walkaway Joe," "There Goes My Baby," "I Would've Loved You Anyway," "How Do I Live." Another one of my favorite songs from her is "Georgia Rain." In fact, that's one of my favorite songs of all time from any artist in any genre. Trisha has been a member of the Grand Ole Opry for 21 years, is the winner of three Grammys, and has written three cookbooks and stars in her own cooking show, Trisha's Southern Kitchen, which earned her a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Culinary Program in 2013. With Trisha's departure, we see the loss of two Top 5s from someguy and BackwoodsBarbie , as well as a string of Top 20s, including ethanhunt 's perfect ranking.

I love quite a few songs from Trisha ("She's in Love With the Boy", "Everybody Knows", and "Georgia Rain" being my favorites) but overall I prefer other ladies from the 90s (Martina, Faith, Sara, and Shania) that are in this rankdown.

I really liked Trisha growing up but around high school, her output just never stood out anymore. Also, there's the Garth Brooks thing and then the fact that That's What I Like About You isn't even on Songbook! 😒

Trisha is pretty good, but I am actually okay with her leaving here. She is at the bottom of the '90s women for me. When she is on, she can put out some absolutely beautiful music! However, a lot of it is also incredibly forgettable to me. When Martina, Faith, Reba, Jo Dee, Sara, etc. do ballads, they tend to be pretty memorable and unique, but all of Trisha's ballads blend together for me. Another problem I have with Trisha is that her voice is just so heavy, it can kinda become overbearing if I listen to her for too long. Her ability to put out a powerful sound is admirable and impressive for sure! A huge advantage that Trisha has over the other '90s women though is that her voice is aging incredibly well! She still sounds every bit as amazing as she ever did, and there are moments on her new album that really put her up near the top of her range, and she has no problems whatsoever. At a time when Martina's dexterity and power is nearly gone, Faith's having to talk-sing through some melodies to make them easier on her voice on a big tour, Terri is becoming more and more nasally as high notes become harder for her, Reba is lowering all her keys to be able to sing her old songs, etc. Trisha's preservation of voice is a real treat!!

Yeah. Trisha's out too soon. I've really been into "Believe Me Baby (I Lied)" these days actually, which may or may not be a hint for things to come...

Johnny is yet another person who is just kinda before my time. I admire and respect everything he has done for the genre, but I am just not nearly as familiar with him as I should be.
I will say, I saw this video about his vocal range a couple of months ago, and I am incredibly shook! What a talented man, for sure!!

Johnny Cash is another artist I really should dig into more - I've enjoyed what I've heard from him a lot so far.

Up next is the Man In Black himself, Johnny Cash. Born in Arkansas to poor cotton farmers, Johnny served four years in the United States Air Force before emerging in Memphis, Tennessee with his signature baritone voice. He was known for his somber, humble demeanor, which is what gave him the name I just called him--the Man In Black. Among his biggest hits are "I Walk The Line," "Folsom Prison Blues," "Man In Black," "Ring Of Fire," and "A Boy Named Sue." He was also famous for his marriage to June Carter Cash, which Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon portrayed in the 2005 film Walk The Line. Johnny's crossover success gave him the rare honor of being diagnosed in the Country, Rock and Roll, and Gospel Music Halls of Fame! He is also one of the best-selling artists of all time, having sold over 90 million albums worldwide. He was in a hospital in Nashville on September 12, 2003 when he passed away from complications with diabetes at the age of 71. With this reveal, gardyfan , Sambalada , and born all lose a Top 5, along with an additional three Top 10s.

Leaving way too early next is one of Pulse Country's (apparently) most polarizing figures: Faith Hill! She is one of the best-selling country music artists of all time, having sold over 40 million records worldwide and receiving 5 Grammy Awards and 15 ACM Awards along the way. Her tour with husband Tim McGraw, "Soul2Soul 2006," is the highest-grossing country tour of all time. Among Faith's biggest hits are "Breathe," "This Kiss," "The Way You Love Me," "Cry," and "Mississippi Girl." In 2019, she recieved a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. And she needs to hurry up when this is all over and release her ninth album because I'm sick of these Shania-like waits she makes us endure. I absolutely love her voice and every single one of her albums.
With this reveal, we see thirteen Top 20 losses, eight of which are Top 10s and three of which are Top 5s, sadly including my own. </3

Faith has been growing on me a LOT in recent years, pretty much since I've been hosting her rankdowns! She was always kinda hit-or-miss for me before that. She has a beautiful voice, but is not always the best at picking material. As a vocalist though she is pretty much the full package. She has a robust and soulful lower range, and a powerful and resonant high range. Similar to Trisha, her voice is also pretty heavy, which helps her to really nail a ballad, but sometimes gets in the way when she is trying to sing quickly. Her vibrato is one of the best in the business, imo, and she knows how to use it to maximum effect to enhance her music.
The biggest problem with Faith is that she is a wildly inconsistent live vocalist. Half the time she sounds better than the studio, but the other half she sounds wildly out of tune for every single note. Also, she is not always very confident with her high range in a live setting. Several times now I have seen her jump into head voice to hit a note that she easily belted in the studio.
I'm not surprised to see her leave now, or leave before Tim. I love her, but I know she's pretty polarizing on here.

Let's also eliminate her husband shall we... I would vehemently disagree with you, but I just learned that you had apparently never listened to a country album until 2014 (when The Outsiders came out). And if that's the case, then of COURSE you wouldn't fully appreciate Tim McGraw, who has been quite lackluster since then! Lmao

The 90s women take another hit with the departure of Patty Loveless. She emerged in 1985 and became one of the most popular artists of neotraditional (aka stone-cold aka real) country. Her blend of honky-tonk and country rock along with her emotional ballad style of music rose her to stardom. Patty has sold 15 million albums worldwide during her career and has been a member of the Grand Ole Opry for 32 years. Among her biggest hits are "Chains," "Timber, I'm Falling In Love," "Blame It On Your Heart," and "Lonely Too Long." In 1990, Patty encountered a major problem with her vocal cords. Her doctor noticed a red spot, and by 1992 it had become an enlarged blood vessel that looked like a varicose vein. She was unsure if she'd ever sing again because surgery wasn't a guaranteed fix. Luckily, after nine weeks of not being able to sing or talk, she returned to the spotlight at the Grand Ole Opry on January 4, 1993, her 36th birthday. Along with her came a richer, deeper voice that enhanced her career moving forward. She scored fourteen Top 20 ranks here, including five Top 5s. "Blame It On Your Heart" was originally the only song I had ever heard from her, but as I have continued to discover Patty and her voice(s), thanks to castleoblivion26 's album series and tim 's feature of her in the 00s Women of Country rankdown, I have developed a deeper appreciation for her music and I now definitely feel as if I under-ranked her here.

Bowing out last tonight is Little Big Town. Comprised of Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Jimi Westbrook, and Phillip Sweet, the quartet is known for their four-part vocal harmonies and the alternating pattern of lead vocalists on different songs. Among their biggest hits are "Girl Crush," "Day Drinking," and "Pontoon," "Tornado," and "Better Man." With this reveal, LBTrocks loses his #1 (sorry to you!) and six more people lose a Top 10.
