Tim McGraw Album Rankdown Series
Everywhere
So it's time to start Tim's album series and open it for submissions! I thought Everywhere would be a good one for us to begin with, and we can jump around from older to newer as we go. This is my first rankdown, so please be nice! 😂 I just will need to get the hang of it. I also know nothing about spotify so if someone could make a playlist I'll gladly edit it into the first post and give credit. Rank the songs from 1-11 from your favorite to least favorite, then PM me your list by April 28th- 4 weeks away so I think we should have plenty of time in the midst of the pandemic. The album itself is available on Spotify:
*Had I been able to launch this earlier, my original plan was to start with All I Want, then move to Live Like You Were Dying, and who knows where after that! With all that hubbub aside, I should be able to knock this out pretty soon as I'm familiar with all of these tracks already. :)

I am glad that this is finally happening!!! I have actually been feeling an itch to dive more into Tim's catalog lately, so I'm excited for this :) I have only listened to 3-4 of his albums, so most of these will be discoveries for me!

I used to be a big fan of his in the late 90's and early 00's. Count me in, I will do this one for sure, and maybe most of the newer ones. The first albums do not interest me that much lol

This was one of my first Country albums I ever owned. In fact with Deana Carters Did I Shave My Legs For This they were my first 2. So I'm excited to revisit this album because I love most of the album. Happy we are starting with this one! Also ClevelandRox if you have any questions or advice in hosting rankdowns I'm sure any of us who have been hosting would be happy to answer them. Just ask!

I will definitely do this one! I love his albums, he is one of my favorite album artists, especially in the late 90s/early 2000s. Most of the best songs ended up staying album tracks and never becoming singles lol. Maybe not this album, but many of the others.

I've already bugged boat to death with how to do the spreadsheets and such 😂 I was like a deer in headlights when reading how he explained it but I think I'm getting it. Don't be surprised if I come to you for a little help though! I will definitely do this one! I love his albums, he is one of my favorite album artists, especially in the late 90s/early 2000s. I'll save the rants for while we're doing the rankdowns 😂 So many favorites that weren't singles, with some even teased on the album stickers or said to be the next single. 🔥 Can't wait for us to get to them!

I definitely agree that Tim is probably the biggest mainstream artist with the worst history of picking singles, lol. That being said, this is probably the album where I feel like he/Curb got it the best, in terms of picking the singles. This was one of the first country albums I owned too (probably among my first 15 or 20). It was definitely the first Tim McGraw album I owned. I remember buying it at the big Sam the Record Man store in Toronto when I was staying with my grandparents for a week as a kid, haha

Loving this Everywhere album so far! So many tracks that are the epitome of iconic!! I really loved Tim's production in the mid-to-late '90s.

Oop, I always forget "One Of These Days" was a single at all, let alone one that it peaked at NUMBER TWO... All those bajillions of hits packages from Curb, and this one couldn't find its way onto ANY of them?!??!!

OMG I didn't even realize that Ms. "Just To See You Smile" is on this album too! So late in the track list!! I just pressed play and was like "We'll see what happens!" without looking too hard at the list first! On the one hand this makes things much less interesting, because that has always seemed to be Pulse's favorite Tim McGraw song, and I was watching all those other hits pile up thinking how great it would be to see something like "Where The Green Grass Grows" or "For A Little While" win a rankdown... But on the other hand, it is iconic as hell and definitely would be a deserving winner too, so I won't be disappointed even if it wins (again)

Some of his song choices got better with time, but the production took a big step back when he went full Dancehall Doctors on recorded tracks, IMO.

1. What song will be #1? "It's Your Love"
2. What song will be #11? "You Turn Me On"
3. What single will be highest? Answered at question #1
4. What single will be lowest? "For a Little While" probably around the middle but hopefully in the bottom 3
5. What song(s) will be most polarizing? "Everywhere" for its length and perhaps "It's Your Love" because Faith Hill has a couple haters here Least polarizing? "Where the Green Grass Grows"
6. What album track will place highest and where? "Ain't That the Way It Always Ends" just outside the Top 5
7. You Just Get Better or You Turn Me On? The former by a mile but I wouldn't revisit either.
8. Any other thought/comments? This album was okay...my favorites were my Top 5 and outside of those and maybe my #6 I wouldn't revisit the album. Not that each album track is terrible; it just doesn't have much of a personal replay value.

1. What song will be #1?*Rooting for WTGGG, but am bracing for JTSYS reign supreme again! 2. What song will be #11?*If it were up to me, it would be between "Hard on the Ticker" or "You Turn Me On". I have no idea what'll fall out of this shaken bag first though. 3. What single (It's Your Love, Just to See You Smile, Everywhere, For A Little While, One of these Days, Where the Green Grass Grows) will be highest?*Should be WTGGG, but wouldn't be surprised to see JTSYS make it all the way to the top. 4. What single (It's Your Love, Just to See You Smile, Everywhere, For A Little While, One of these Days, Where the Green Grass Grows) will be lowest?*Not sure, really. Maybe it'll be between "It's Your Love" or "One of These Days"? 5. What song(s) will be most polarizing? Least polarizing?*I see "You Turn Me On" and JTSYS being pretty polarizing and, on the other end, the title track and "I Do But I Don't"? 6. What album track will place highest and where?*Rooting for both "Ain't That the Way It Always Ends" and "I Do But I Don't" (both are jams! ) to make it into the top five...or at least one of them. 7. You Just Get Better or You Turn Me On?"You Just Get Better All the Time", easy-peasy. 8. Any other thought/comments?*Despite this being one of his most popular albums to date, it's one of his albums I revisit the least. Sorry. :(

1. What song will be #1?
I'm rooting for "Everywhere" or "For A Little While". Am really hoping that "Just To See You Smile" does not take the top as it is easily my least favorite song on this album.
2. What song will be #11?
It'll probably be "You Turn Me On" or "Hard On The Ticker"
3. What single (It's Your Love, Just to See You Smile, Everywhere, For A Little While, One of these Days, Where the Green Grass Grows) will be highest?
It is between "Everywhere", "For A Little While", or "Just To See You Smile"
4. What single (It's Your Love, Just to See You Smile, Everywhere, For A Little While, One of these Days, Where the Green Grass Grows) will be lowest?
"One Of These Days" easily. Even though it is one of my favorite songs from the album I'm not expecting it to be in the top 5 at all
5. What song(s) will be most polarizing? Least polarizing?
Most: "Just To See You Smile" Least: "You Turn Me On"
6. What album track will place highest and where?
I'm thinking that "I Do but I Don't" or "Ain't That The Way It Always Ends" will be the highest album track
7. You Just Get Better or You Turn Me On?
"You Just Get Better All The Time" is a better song than "You Turn Me On"
8. Any other thought/comments?
this was the first country CD I ever bought (along with Deana Carters' Did I Shave My Legs For This). This album will always have sentimental value to me and I'm excited to see how this plays out!

3. What single (It's Your Love, Just to See You Smile, Everywhere, For A Little While, One of these Days, Where the Green Grass Grows) will be highest? "Everywhere"
4. What single (It's Your Love, Just to See You Smile, Everywhere, For A Little While, One of these Days, Where the Green Grass Grows) will be lowest? "One of These Days"
5. What song(s) will be most polarizing? Least polarizing? Most Polarizing: "Hard on The Ticker" Least Polarizing: "Everywhere"
6. What album track will place highest and where? idk lol.
7. You Just Get Better or You Turn Me On? "You Turn Me On"
8. Any other thought/comments? I hope "One of These Days" is out early even tho it's a single cuz ew lol.
