tim can take a sigh of relief, the title track is out! I have to admit as much as I do love this one, I have no memory of ever hearing it on the radio! It's basically an album track to me. I feel like it peaked in the top ten around #7 but must have had almost zero recurrent airplay ever since. But I find it to be such a catchy jam! I'd sh*t my britches if I was driving and this song suddenly came on!

tim has no taste per usual, lol. Anyway, "All I Want" is amazing!!! That vocal arrangement in the verse is SO GOOD I can't. I adore everything about this song!!!! "She Never Let's It Go To Her Heart" and "Maybe We Should Just Sleep On It" are pretty much equally as flawless tho, so don't let my #2 or #3 rank of them make you think there this huge gap between how I feel about them and "All I Want" because there absolutely is NOT! But, all 3 couldn't be my #1 unfortunately lol.

Maybe We Should Just Sleep On It bows out third. No #1's but nothing below a #7 ranking! I think this is very similar run to My Old Friend that also sneaked a top three(?) just by a general likingness for it rather than a mix of love or hate. It's definitely a classic though!

I feel like it peaked in the top ten around #7 but must have had almost zero recurrent airplay ever since. Actually, I think it was a top 5 hit sometime in 1996! I agree though that this song had a very short shelf life as I don't think I've ever heard it on the radio since then. Something about this song has always rubbed me the wrong way and I can't quite put my finger on it. There's nothing lyrically that draws me into this nor is the production my cup of tea. I didn't care for the song then and I still don't to this day.

I love everything about "When She Wakes Up (And Finds Me Gone)". The narrator's perspective is just soooo unique! You can feel all of his anguish and regrets as he teeters on the verge of what he knows might be the dumbest decision he will ever make. It makes for one of the most compelling, best-written stories on the entire album. Also, the explosive chorus is perfectly suited for Tim's strengths as a vocalist. I also love the loud, rock-leaning production, especially in the outro! It is easily one of the most interesting instrumental pieces on the album. I cannot even fathom what anyone is thinking who puts this in their bottom 3. "Renegade", "The Wrong Man", and "That's Just Me" have absolutely nothing that would put them ahead of this one. Thank God we got that right in the final order, at least. "The Great Divide" is great, but I always think of it and "Can't Be Really Gone" as occupying the same niche on the album, and this one's not quite as good. I'm glad it made the album tracks at least though! Wow, Tim McGraw/Jo Dee Messina ill-fated romance conspiracy theories are the last place I expected this rankdown to go All that I know is that "I Didn't Ask And She Didn't Say" is a standout on this album, and I love it. Should be an easy top 20 for me in the album tracks rd, if not top 15! "Don't Mention Memphis" has one of the most engaging melodies I have ever heard!!! That chorus is literally perfect! This will honestly fight for my #1 spot in the album tracks rd, although there is a lot of competition from throughout his career for sure so I can't say definitively yet.

I wish "Can't Be Really Gone" could've made it couple of spots higher, but knowing that it was going to be a polarizing song I think it did about as well as I could've expected it to.
I do remember hearing "Maybe We Should Just Sleep on It" quite a bit during the time it was charting, but this is the third single in a row to exit that I can't recall receiving much in the way of recurrent airplay.
Which brings us to the top two! There was very little doubt it would come down to "I Like It, I Love It" and "She Never Lets It Go to Her Heart" as both had a much bigger impact on this album era than the other releases. Even though one of the songs has been vastly overplayed throughout the years since its release, I'd honestly be content with either one of these two songs winning.

SHOCKED to see "Can't Be Really Gone" bow out before the title track!!! I do prefer "All I Want" personally, so I am happy with this development. But I figured AIW wouldn't have enough high passion to beat CBRG. Is anybody else as dead as I am at the fact that "Can't Be Really Gone" was skipped on his first Greatest Hits album despite being a #2 hit... And then was also skipped on his second greatest Hits album.... only to be included on his 3rd one?! Curb was very obviously just fucking with all of us at that point "All I Want" is so great! It is definitely overshadowed by the other hits on this album, but it is still such an engaging, classic '90s jam that is perfect for Tim's delivery style.

"Maybe We Should Just Sleep On It", "She Never Lets It Go To Her Heart", and "I Like It, I Love It" are all three among the biggest and most iconic hits of Tim's career Thrilled to see them be the top 3! Even though it was totally what I expected... Lol I disagree that "Maybe We Should Just Sleep On It" hasn't held up as well as the other two, at least where I live. ILIILI is obviously the recurrent classic of this album, but SNLIGTHH and MWSJSOI are pretty much equal in my eyes, and both have held up exceptionally well. I haven't heard either in a few years now as radio becomes s**ttier over time, but for much of my childhood even up through high school years, I heard all three of these songs very regularly on radio. Anyway, I love the guitar work in "Sleep On It" more than anything else That electric guitar tone is just sooooo pure and iconic in the intro to the song! I miss this type of production from Tim so badly, lol. Now, I'm happy with either of these songs winning!!! I'll root for "I Like It, I Love It", but these are both among my top 5 favorite songs from Tim of all time, so I'm thrilled either way Edit: Well then!

Thank you for hosting ClevelandRox! 11/12 songs on the album were new discoveries for me and many of them were solid songs.

It was a rocky road to get there, but we ended it perfectly! "She Never Lets It Go to Her Heart" is one of his best 90s singles for sure.

It's been a love/hate relationship with "I Like It, I Love It" over the years if only because it came at a point in time that my ears were glued to country radio as a young boy. I've heard this song ad nauseam ever since and it got to a point I'd just hit skip on the radio dial whenever it would come on. I've been able to warm up more to the song now so that I don't have to do that haha. Anyways, that isn't to say I don't like the song because it's catchy and just plain fun. "She Never Lets It Go to Her Heart" has just been one of those songs that for me has stood the test of time and isn't one that I ever tire of hearing. I still think it sounds just as good today as it did back then. Thanks again ClevelandRox and stay warm!

I Like It, I Love It was the frontrunner the entire submission process till the last few lists! I consider ILI,ILI so much more of a nostalgic Tim staple, but would've been happy either way- She Never Let's It Go To Her Heart is a very deserving winner. We definitely got the top two right this rankdown! I feel like we've had a lot of shock results at the end of these Tim rankdowns, this one was no exception! :) Thanks everyone who participated and followed along! We're officially done with mullet/twang/vintage Tim albums and going back to one of the newer albums next. Then after that, I'm opening a poll and letting y'all pick which one we're doing. :) I'll be announcing the next one in the rankdown series shortly!

WHAT JUST HAPPENED omg I am so happy!! "She Never Lets It Go To Her Heart" is PHENOMENAL!!!! It was my #2 for a period lol, I kept going back and forth. Ultimately, it settled @ 3 for me, but I ADORE IT!! It's gorgeous. Same with "Maybe We Should Just Sleep On It," both top-notch country songs. "I Like It, I Love It" has never been one of my favorites from Tim, so I'm glad it didn't win! That said, I don't dislike it; it is a jam, and IS quintessential 90s. Like, if I was told I needed to make a top 20 of songs that non-country fans needed to listen to from the 90s, I would put this one on it... even tho it might not be in my personal top 20. It's a fun song.
