Shame I have work and can't be around today. Hopefully, I can discuss more tomorrow. I love how delays on Billboard only happen when I have nothing to do. Although, it's quite interesting to see "Ride It" finally chart after all this time.

Three country songs in the top 20? When's the last time that happened? Everyone predicting pop will take over after trap/rap's dominance would be shocked if country explodes and dominates on the Hot 100 throughout the early 20s. it really isn't though. It's still rap and pop at the top, easily. It's just billboard on an outdated formula, just like how billboard allowed One More Night to stay 9 weeks at #1 over Gangnam Style. So billboard can have all the country songs in the top 20 as it wants, but we know they don't really belong there anyway. What are you talking about? I didn't say country was the dominant genre now, just that it would be funny and unexpected if it became that in the next couple of years. It's happened before; the early 80s were dominated by country crossover songs and Garth Brooks was the biggest album seller of the 90s (and would have been big on the Hot 100 if the charts worked back then like they do now). It has nothing to do with Billboard being outdated, dominant genres come and go.

Finally!

The new song halts Panic! at the Disco's 76-week reign atop the chart.
For the first time since November 2018, an act not named Panic! at the Disco is No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Rock Songs chart.
Twenty One Pilots' new single "Level of Concern" dethrones Panic!'s "High Hopes," rising 2-1 to rule the Hot Rock Songs list dated April 25.
"Level of Concern" is the first non-Panic! track to top Hot Rock Songs since Imagine Dragons' "Natural" concluded its 11-week reign on the Nov. 3, 2018, tally. After that, Panic!'s "High Hopes" ruled for a record 65 weeks, non-consecutively, while the act's "Hey Look Ma, I Made It" paced the list for 11 weeks amid the command of "High Hopes."
Twenty One Pilots notch their fourth Hot Rock Songs No. 1 and first since "Heathens," which led for 30 weeks beginning in August 2016. The duo's other No. 1s, also in 2016: "Stressed Out" (23 weeks, beginning that January) and "Ride" (nine, beginning that June).
In its first full tracking week following its April 9 release via Fueled By Ramen/EMG, "Level of Concern" drew 10.6 million U.S. streams and sold 12,000 downloads in the week ending April 16 and garnered 18.2 million audience impressions on radio in the week ending April 19, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.
"Level of Concern" leads the Rock Digital Song Sales list for a second week and bounds 19-4 on the all-format Digital Song Sales survey, where it's the band's best placement since "Heathens," which peaked at No. 2 in July 2016.
The track also enters at No. 1 on Rock Streaming Songs, becoming just the third hit to debut on top in the list's nearly seven-year history, following Soko's "We Might Be Dead Tomorrow" (March 2014) and Tame Impala's "Breathe Deeper" (February 2020). On the all-format Streaming Songs chart, "Level of Concern" bows at No. 22, marking Twenty One Pilots' best start since "Heathens" (No. 17, July 2016).
"Level of Concern" vaults 19-6 on the Alternative Songs airplay chart, becoming the act's 12th top 10. On the all-rock-format Rock Airplay list, the song surges 8-4 with 6.4 million audience impressions. Also rising at pop formats, "Level of Concern" lifts 30-21 on Adult Pop Songs and 35-26 on Pop Songs, becoming Twenty One Pilots' highest-charting single on the rankings since "Heathens" hit No. 2 on both in 2016.
The song launches at No. 23 on the all-genre, multi-metric Billboard Hot 100, where it's the act's second-best debut and highest rank since "Heathens," which opened at No. 14 and reached No. 2 in 2016.
The new track is currently a standalone single and the first new music from Twenty One Pilots since their 2018 album Trench.

It has nothing to do with Billboard being outdated, dominant genres come and go. I don't think it's due to an outdated formula either, but the word dominant does imply that it might be the BIGGEST genre, so I could see how they could be led to believe that you were saying many country songs would dominate at the top. Haven't people been noticing that country is seeing a surge in streaming because country fans, who listen to music a lot on the radio in their cars, are home now and streaming instead? And they haven't adjusted the airplay audience down, so it hasn't equalized (I guess this part of it could be due to a faulty formula). It could also be just an anomalous occurrence. And country has always done relatively well in digital, though that matters less now. I remember when digital sales were at their peak, and to a certain extent now, a fair amount of country songs would debut high due to high first week digital sales.

I still don't understand how 21 Pilots managed to completely fall off after 2016 and never score even a moderate mainstream hit of any sorts after getting 3 consecutive smashes.
Perhaps they'll have their Imagine Dragons moment and come back years later after the initial breakthrough.

Ehh I just heard on the radio the following songs almost back to back: Adore You, Say So, Blinding Lights, Don't Start Now, Ritmo and Supalonely... and the one thing I found they have in common is that retro/throwback sound from the 70s/80s/90s, maybe that's the new trend (retro) ruling the first year of the 2020s and whew at that bass on Supalonely, it's basically a disco song.

Perhaps they'll have their Imagine Dragons moment and come back years later after the initial breakthrough. It's because they abandoned trends and went much more experimental on Trench, the lead single was a hard rock song that was not commercial friendly at all
