Carti is a phenomenon. Back in 2017, I would've never imagined he would end up acquiring such a rabid cult following and despite me not really liking his music, I have to respect that. I think @meh is locked #1 debut tbh. locked #1 debut????????

If anything Pain 1996 might debut number one on streaming, but Toosie Slide and Blinding Lights seem so strong now debuting number one on the Hot 100 seems crazy. Like, if Baby Pluto didn’t why would Carti’s?

^ In all actuality though, at best, Carti will have a song perform like "Baby Pluto", his and Lil Uzi Vert's fanbase tend to be made up of the same people, at least from what I've seen online and in real life.

Hell at one point I doubted Joji could get over a million streams on US Spotify, yet he (thankfully) managed to do so. It's definitely possible.

Honestly idk man, life just be interesting like that sometimes.

i know y'all didnt forget about the #13 hit EARFQUAKE featuring Playboi Carti He wasn’t credited so basically he got the sicko mode treatment. Carti was rapping the terms and conditions on that song so does it really count anyways?

Call me shameless but I plan on buying Circles during this next week to get it to stay in the Top 10 for a 34th week, like actually buy it on iTunes, since it's worth more than one stream.
Not just cuz I love the track but also we don't need another 33rd week single as I said before, I'm just saying.

He's first day numbers won't be big because of the mid day release, but his numbers on Saturday will be good. He's already hit #1 on Apple Music.

Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, and Ariana Grande had never had a number one hit until they had a song debut there. You put out music, you tour, you create buzz for yourself and you grow as an artist. You’d be stupid to think an artist who has as much hype as Carti does right now wouldn’t be able to do massive numbers in their first week even though they’ve never had a solo song reach the top 20. Probably one of the most musically oblivious things I’ve heard anyone on here say.
The number one is weak right now, if Carti keeps up the momentum that he has with this song for the remainder of the week, I’d say it has a fair shot at getting there, as much as the Drake dickriders on pulse would hate to see it.

Drake just managed to debut at #1 and it took him pulling 55.5M streams, 25,000 digital sales and 34.6M radio audience impressions. You're delusional if you think Playboi Carti is doing all of that with @ MEH. Also, Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber all scored several hits in the top 10/20 region before debuting at #1. Don't be silly.

It might not go number one but to count this song out (which a lot of y’all are doing) just because he’s never had a top 10 before means nothing, neither had Donald Glover when he did it. If Lil Uzi Vert can debut in the top 10, Carti can. They have the same amount of hype.

Playboi is a very cult artist geered towards a fanbase for the most part. This song won't get much airplay out the gate, nor will it sell anything. I doubt it'll pull near Toosie's streaming, so a top 10/top 20 debut is definitely probably where the ceiling is.

^Carti is not cult lmao he has the same mainstream rap fanbase that Uzi has. He also had a few very mainstream features last year and a song that probably would’ve been top 10 had it actually been released.

If Lil Uzi Vert can debut in the top 10, Carti can. They have the same amount of hype. Who counted it out? I have it debuting in the top 20 right now because all I have to go on is how well it's doing on Apple Music. I don't know how well it'll perform on Spotify and he isn't a veteran hitmaker where I can predict the performance of his new song based on the performance of his old songs. I think I was pretty generous with my prediction. Take Turks for example. Nav, Gunna and Travis Scott. Reached #1 on Apple Music and Spotify with over 1.7M streams. Came with a music video. It started strong but where did it end up debuting? #17. Not saying the exact same thing will happen with @ MEH, but he doesn't exactly have a history of scoring top 10 debuts. Don't get mad at people for not automatically giving him the benefit of the doubt. At least, Lil Uzi had scored a couple of top 10 hits before his album dropped so we could confidently say that he'd score more following his album's release.

Carti hasn’t had an album to compare these stats with. If you follow hip hop media, you’d find their fanbases are basically the same and that they have the same amount of hype behind them.
