oh that's a surprise - I thought my #9 rank would be on the lower end of the spectrum... Ms. Taylor top 10 Also... what is Miles Davis doing in the bottom 5!?

Out of the five songwriters/songwriting teams from the previous round, Madonna-Patrick Leonard are already out. However... only one of those five will make it to the top 5 this time and advance to the next round. One of them will be the next elimination (to be revealed tomorrow).

How does La Isla Bonita miss top ten? Non-English bias is real.

So how did I rank Spirit of Radio #1 and Flamenco Sketches #20? Bad taste? Yeah, possibly, but mostly emotional connection. Of the 20 tracks, I knew 16, and played the other four from a streaming service. Flamenco was one of those and it just doesn't do anything for me. Quarantine is a lousy time to try to build subtle tastes. If I played it a few more times, I might enjoy it more, but not on first taste.
The Spirit Of Radio invokes for me not just the song, but an entire genre.
Backstory. The title come from the slogan of a tiny station on the outskirts of Toronto called cfny. It's still around but now it's known as The Edge. Back in the late 70s/early 80s, they were the only station I could hear alternative rock. From future hitmakers like Duran Duran and Simple Minds to never-very-big acts like The Smith or the Psychedelic Furs to obscure Canadian acts like Skinny Puppy or Blue Peter. They were the go-to station of my late teens/early 20s.
And clearly Neal Peart of Rush liked them too, because he took that slogan and wrote a whole song about the station. A put-down of corporate rock and corporate rock stations, that, ironically got a lot of airplay on corporate rock stations.
But not on CFNY.
They didn't play Rush.
So when I hear this song, I'm transported to an entire decade of music I love. I had to put it at #1.

What’s your all-time favourite song from the late 1970’s/early 1980’s Rock era, of you have one that is?

Despite being ranked #8, the next reveal didn't get any perfect ranks. In fact, not a single person ranked it in the 2nd quarter of their list. The vast majority of rankings have been either in the top or bottom quarter, which is why it has by far the highest SD.

Still a great Michael song, but probably not in my top 10 favorites from him. Regardless, surprised that it missed the top 5.

I like plenty of Michael Jackson songs but "The Way You Make Me Feel" just hasn't clicked with me ever. Sorry :(

One more of the previous finalists gets eliminated next, so that's either Another Brick In The Wall Pt. 2 or Uptight.
