Let’s not separate AIWFCIY from the post winter freeze. Of course it drops heavily, it’s success is reliant on the holiday season. I don’t count it because it’s a special set of circumstances that don’t affect the other songs discussed.

One way to look at these stats is to separate them into Christmas and Not

Do we really need to go through this again? This was all discussed earlier this year. "AIWFCIY" didn't have a position it dropped to, so it doesn't have a technical drop from #1; you can't say "It fell 18 spots" for instance. It has the biggest fall off the chart, as you noted, but The Weekend has the biggest drop from #1 as the post you quoted stated. I was away for 4 months earlier this year on other priorities so won't be re-reading the Hot 100 threads to catch up - Sorry 1-Out is a bigger drop than 1-18 in my book, how can it be the reverse? 1-18 is 17 spots, 1-out is at least 50 spots. Not going to argue with you - you are free to call it what you want. It’s not just me, it’s Billboard too. When “Heartless” fell 1-17 it was called the biggest fall from #1. You can have your own opinion about it, but in terms of actual Billboard records, “Heartless” has the biggest fall from #1.

300th: " The Morning After" by Maureen McGovern (1973) 400th: " Kiss and Say Goodbye" by the Manhattans (1976) 500th: " Keep on Loving You" by REO Speedwagon (1981) 600th: " There'll Be Sad Songs (To Make You Cry)" by Billy Ocean (1986) 700th: " Right Here Waiting" by Richard Marx (1989) 800th: " You Are Not Alone" by Michael Jackson (1995) 900th: " The Way You Move" by Outkast feat. Sleepy Brown (2004) 1000th: " Born This Way" by Lady Gaga (2011) 1100th: " Say So" by Doja Cat feat. Nicki Minaj (2020) So many great classics on here. The Morning After is my favorite, followed by Keep on Loving You and There'll Be Sad Songs. I'm not a huge fan of Kiss and Say Goodbye (but there are so many better songs from 1976, I wish Afternoon Delight would have been #400 instead) or Right Here Waiting.

They are treated as separate achievements: Biggest drop from #1 (to another position -still charting): The Weeknd - 1 to 17 Biggest drop of the chart
Mariah - 1 to OFF Non-seasonal songs is Elvis Presley - 4 to OFF Mariah is not counted in the first one because she didn't chart the second week. But you are right if we ignore this terminology, Mariah's drop is bigger than The Weeknd's because she dropped below pos. 50 and went recurrent.
Semantics - I got it As with everything else, "treating as separate achievements" depends on who is doing the treating. That is why there is no point in further comment. The answer will always be in the eye of the person writing/discussing the stat. Who it depends on? -The writer of the Billboard articles i guess.

Mariah dropped 50+ spots a few weeks later My opinion has been posted, a 50+ spot drop I think is bigger than 16 spot drop. I might be wrong Of course there is the semantics argument, a drop from #1 of 16 spots is a bigger fall than the Mariah song because it maybe didn't fall as so much as be removed because Christmas was over. Or we could separate Christmas and non-Christmas Or we could at it a completely different way In any case as with other statistics - how you view it is up to you

The Mariah drop from #1 happened AFTER Heartless so all of that is certainly true. The Billboard blurb also did not distinguish 1-17 and 1-out as separate events. Perhaps next season the Mariah song could return to #1 again as the first song since The Twist to do so.

Those articles are saying two different things; they aren’t contradictory. Gary asked why are there 2 different achievements in the first place who decides about that ? That was the answer. Billboard decides.

Not contradictory - both happened
if you want to look at 1-17 and 1-out different that is fine. Not going to argue with that.

In the end of the day it is just data it depends how you interpret it and what rules you set. Neither Gary's nor Billboard's point of view is wrong.

Nicki deserves it. It was a cheap way to get a #1 but finally shutting all the haters up who loved flaunting that she never had a #1.

OK Billboard - based on my read of what was posted was not drawing a distinction between "falling off the chart" from #1 and "dropping" from #1 -- of course I get you interpreted that differently - fine. In my opinion, both mean the same. You could also argue the Mariah song was simply removed because Christmas was over and it didn't actually "drop". In any case - statistics and how they are treated depends on who is doing the treating

Soooo happy to see that Nicki finally got a No. 1, and that "Say So" hit the top. I did not think she was going to get credited.

Circles haters punching the air rn Seasons change and our love went cold Feed the flame 'cause we can't let go Run away but we're running in Circles Run away Run Away “Circles” By Post Malone may possibly be the greatest song ever constructed by man. If you are not a fan of the song, I will personally have you prosecuted and sent to Guantanamo Bay where they will further investigate your sanity and determine whether you should be accepted into society once again or whether you should be locked up forever (spoiler alert I will have you tortured forever if you don’t like the song). It is a demonstration of Mr. Malone’s pure talent, using no autotune (just the gift is his amazing voice). Need I say more; the melody is amazing, the beat, the everything, EEEEEK I just LOVE Circles By Post Malone, I just love it! Finally, I love the use of comic relief in the song. There aren’t many songs where I can say I truly laughed with, but with Circles I did. When Mr. Malone uses the sex word in the line “sex though, sex though”, it always gives me a fine giggle. I’m glad that he added this comic relief. All songs these days are just too serious. They sing about depression, broken hearts, suicide, etc [blehhhh]. The only good song out right now is Circles. Thank you for listening to this mini rant, I’ve just had it in myself for a while and had to get it all out. Remember to stream Circles by Post Malone! I don't hate it, I like it, I just don't think it's anything outrageously phenomenal to be considered like the best song ever, and am surprised that even though it's had the longest run in the top ten ever, people want it to stay even longer and aren't sick of it yet. And especially since Post has received a fair amount of hate on this board even just less than a year ago for being culturally appropriative, falsely claiming to be a hip-hop artist, etc. It's surprising to see this drastic turnaround where everyone is all up on his d*** now. I get it, everyone loves this song, and it wouldn't bother me so much and I would try to hold back my displeasure more if it weren't for other singers who I believe have songs just as good, if not better, and whose runs in the top ten haven't even been as long, getting vilified and a lot of hate spewed and people dying and praying for them to go away, such as Perfect and Someone You Loved. I get it, people think Circles is god's gift to the earth, but can you not also needlessly vilify other songs that people like just as much just for cheap shots, and demanding that "there is no way someone can or cannot like this or that song," when such a thing is purely based on taste?

I think you guys are taking that way too literally. Hopefully it's just a stupid joke. No major, self-respecting artist would whore themselves out so cheaply like that.Well, except Psy Boy I was wrong, unless she really was just joking

I do think the # of chart appearances + Top 10s should be differentiated between lead and feature. Nicki/Drake's achievement are not the same as Elvis/Madonna. And this distinction does not diminish what the former artists have achieved. It's just far different to get tagged on multiple random singles rather than releasing your own.

as many of you are now realizing, doja cat trolled us with the boobs tweet. she confirmed it herself on a livestream and quite frankly, my plans for the day were ruined. i was going to jerk off to her boobs for the rest of the day after she displayed them, however, obviously that isn't happening anymore. I bought $80 worth of lube. EIGHTY DOLLARS DOWN THE DRAIN. why do girls play me like this. EVERY. F UCKING. TIME. I've quite frankly had enough of this. It's happened to me so many times. Looks like I'll be spending the night alone... again. by myself. feel free to pm me. quite frankly, i have no clue what to do with myself anymore. here’s the next best thing for ya
