I sent only one for the first time in 6 months and it was skipped I'm sorry, I forgot that you had requested that one! If you really want it I can go ahead and slip it into the August list even though it'll be a couple months old, since you're clearly more passionate than average about it (And for what it's worth, indulge doesn't really send me "requests". He mostly just sends me an endless stream of like every mainstream release to make sure I don't miss any big ones 😂 ) I definitely support Brandon Stansell being included as he is an artist I'd like to see be included more here as he releases more music.

Did I submit my list for this can’t remember I just got over Covid that was a mother to get over let me know if I did or not and I’ll send one over right away if not Nope, it doesn't look like I have a list from you yet. You are definitely still welcome to submit!! I'm sorry for the lack of updates on this one, everybody! I just posted everything that I have been up to in my Terri Clark rankdown thread, but let's just say it has been an insane couple of weeks, and I have hardly even been home, let alone on the computer! Between various appointments, then my cousin's wedding, then cleaning out the last of my things from a storage unit, then having a pipe burst in my kitchen, then a week of trainings for work, then school starting and having to meet with all of our seniors to make sure they are going to be able to graduate this year, then my dad's retirement party, then hanging out with family, etc. It has just been unrelenting!! Meanwhile, my poor cat has been alone at home for nearly two entire weeks with everything going on 😂 Thankfully things are back to normal now! School may have started, but otherwise I will once again be able to focus on Pulse at least a few times a week. I need to get this July rd up and running ASAP, so let's go ahead and announce one FINAL EXTENSION to this Wednesday, 9/7!!! If anybody would like to join in on the July rd, you just have like 4 more days to do so!! This will get closed next Wednesday regardless of how many lists we have, because it is time to move on to August's list now!

WE'RE STARTING!!!!!
We were nowhere close to having a runaway last-place contender this month, but "Y'all Life" was one of the more consistent ones. It almost escaped last place, but I liked the song that was at #25 right before the end a LOT more than most others, rescuing it at the end.... Haha. And honestly, no regerts! "Y'all Life" is nothing but cacophonous noise. Like, as aggravated as I usually am by Walker's style, I can begrudgingly see the appeal of stuff like "Fancy Like" and "AA". "Y'all Life", however, is absolutely horrific. I can't even fathom that it got a single top 10 rank, even considering that he has a few fans on here... Like, even if George Strait sang this, it would have been the immediately obvious last place on my list... (That being said, one of the biggest reasons I stan for him is because he has proven for decades now that we can trust him NOT to put out anything even a fraction of this bad!)

Hey Luke. STOP.
This is just such a stupid, pointless song, that is made even worse by Luke's characteristically emotionally-detached performance that saps it of all its energy and makes it nothing but a lethargic list of people he's saying halfhearted hellos to.
Love the way his voice seems to accidentally crack at 3:11 tho 😂

Okay, here's the deal.... Riley Green won me over with the awesome Neo-traditional arrangement (especially that fiddle!), the catchy melody, the uptempo dark vibe, etc...(surprised to see Flops rank it so low considering this is the sort of minor-key jam that he usually gravitates towards). And frankly, it all comes together so well that I wouldn't have even noticed the lyrics.... So, now that they have been pointed out, I can 100% understand why people think the song is trash and ranked it accordingly. But I had to rank it more based on my first impression, because honestly while bad lyrics are unforgivable if the song is already sonically really bad (which is why I can't ever ignore and get over Walker Hayes' cheesiest lyrics), if the song is otherwise fine-sounding I won't even notice the lyrics... So yeah, criticize me if y'all want to. I will agree that Riley Green is trash, and I hate the lyrics. But damn if the song doesn't still make me want to roll the windows down and crank it up...

I feel like Hunter Hayes is the obsolete version of Dan + Shay, who are already pretty far down the path towards obsoletion themselves... So I really couldn't put it any higher than 21 even though it wasn't THAT bad, lol. Actually, "Y'all Life" and "Country On" were the only songs I disliked here, but something else had to fill out those remaining bottom-5 spots... An artist like Hunter Hayes who is always just plain "there" was a pretty easy candidate. It seems most agreed with me!

I think the arrangement of "Quittin' Time" is pretty cool! The fiddle and banjo and stuff are all really nice touches, and well-mixed! Unfortunately, Zach's voice just continues to not really be for me... There were sections of this song where literally not a single note was in-tune. Sure that "roughness" is characteristic of the style he is trying to do, and I can see it being engaging to some for that reason. In fact, it was a top 10 contender towards the beginning! But it's definitely not for me. No surprise that this would end up being one of our most polarizing songs!

This is going marvelously thus far!
Riley Green overstayed his welcome the moment he escaped #25. What a tragic waste of such a great melody; and on lyrics that are literally rapey. It’s completely turned me off of him as an artist and a person, quite frankly.
None of the other songs were any good either, and “Quittin’ Time” was somewhere along the middle for me.

We're not done yet! I just had to go meet my sister's new boyfriend, so I took a little break And I think it went well! He seems like a good guy! Happy for her I feel like the general consensus on Jimmie Allen is that he has a nice voice, and we seem to want to like him, but he continues to struggle to establish any sort of noteworthy musical identity... To me, "get you a girl" has something understatedly catchy about it, but also has a little bit of a generic feel to it. I'd probably continue to like it more every time I hear it, but it certainly doesn't by itself inspire me to check out his new album. (Especially if it's supposed to be one of the "best" that the album has to offer...)

"Good With Goodbye" has some nice dark steel guitar scattered around in the background, which I loved! Otherwise, however, I found the song to be pretty forgettable... And with the most generic name I have ever heard in my life, John Morgan might need a few more tries before I even remember who he is 😂

"Way Home" has a nice homey vibe to it....but ultimately I found myself getting bored and letting my attention wander in the second half. It's like the song doesn't have enough to it to sustain the entire length of a normal song. Still better to me than a lot of what Tyler put out with FGL, but I think "5 Foot 9" will stay with me more if only because it's unique and kinda catchy.

Damn, the John Morgan song was so good. Wish it made top 15 at least.
We're off to a pretty solid start so far tho. The Walker Hayes, Luke Bryan, and Zach Bryan songs were all garbage.

Our opinions of "Someday It'll All Make Sense" really could come from a variety of places. If you are looking for an engaging vocal performance or a melody that begs to be played on repeat, you're probably not that fond of this one. But if you see it as a powerful showcase of two friends and legends who it is really cool to see working together, or a song you would enjoy hearing at the Opry, then your opinions might be totally different! My rank is on the lower end because I can't really rank songs without considering their entertainment value, but I don't dislike it by any means, and definitely think it would come alive at the Opry!

This duet literally sounds like Dolly Parton is singing with her grandfather. That's how much older and weathered Bill sounds by comparison. That said, Dolly sounds AMAZING. She's still got it.

To be completely honest, Easton's career started with George Strait comparisons, but imo pretty quickly devolved into him recording all the songs that it sounds like George probably already rejected Don't get me wrong, he has a handful of gems that I like to revisit. But my average opinion of his songs is more likely to be "Hmm, that's fine" rather than "Damn that's great!" "Honky Tonk Land" has a pretty catchy chorus, which is by far the best thing about it. Otherwise I just found it a tad cookie-cutter though. In places it almost feels like the bro country writers trying to hop on the neo-trad trend.
