I just noticed that "History Repeats" has some live videos from like 4 years ago, so I'm thinking this is a song that Josh's fans have been waiting for for quite some time!! That's cool that they finally got it.
I was actually REALLY impressed with this one. Josh Gracin has always had a really nice voice I guess. He doesn't always show it off, but when he does, he definitely has the ability to put it out there in a way that many of the other male country artists can't. I think the production here sounds a little cheap, but otherwise this was a total hit for me!! Especially vocally, he completely knocks it out of the park!

Wow, it's pretty rare that I would be the first one to lose my #1 in one of these rankdowns 😂 That being said, it is also really rare that NOBODY had the bad sense to put one of the worst songs in the rankdown at #1, so it's not like me losing my #1 first is equivalent to some of the other first #1 losses we've seen in the past I knew it would be a tough battle for Sykamore to make the top 10. This placement actually seems to be about average for her, which I am fine with. For me personally, her music almost always has to grow on me, to where a song that is meh at first might actually end up becoming my favorite song a few weeks later. However, "Just 4 July" is the first song I have heard from her that actually connected with me immediately! That chorus is very memorable in a way that I could see someone not feeling about something like "Cheap Thrills" until it had a chance to grow on them, for example. But I think this might just end up being a grower for most people as well 😂 Oh well! She'll always be an acquired taste! I also feel like "Pinto" is pretty immediate, so I'm excited to see how it does in the August rd.

Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on who you are?), my solitude in the #1 Loss Club is quite short-lived, as now Kanenrá:ke joins me immediately with the next reveal. "A Guitar, a Singer, etc" is a song that I expected to be pretty polarizing, because it strikes me as a bit of a mood song. It might hit you just right if you're in a bit of an introspective wistful mood, but might come across as boring in a lot of other contexts. So the high and low ranks all made sense to me. The extremes all kinda managed to even each other out for a nice consistent #13 placement!

The #1s continue to drop like flies, with superdave3556 being the newest victim. "Wild Palomino" isn't spectacular to me by any means, but I do feel like it is just a straight-up legit good country song. Like, I won't ever put it on repeat, but I will enjoy it for what it is when it comes on! Cody Johnson's voice also adds a lot to this song, imo, as this style is right up his alley.

I think Temecula Road has a really nice sound. I have kinda had my eye out for them since Sara Evans has been working with them quite a bit, having the lead singer be one of her backup singers from time to time, bringing them on tour with her, etc. It seems they are all pretty good friends with her kids. As far as this song is concerned, I feel like the lead singer has a really pretty voice, but the song itself kinda loses my attention, similar to what I said about Tyler Hubbard's song. That being said, it's a MUCH better song before it loses my attention than his is, hence the higher ranking I'm excited to hear more from them!

25. The only reason this is not my last place is because my #25 exists. The production and the lyrics are laughably bad, non-country etc. 24. This is actually his best lead single for a while, but it is quite pandering and surprisingly doesn't move the needle for him. He is already not the most popular Luke in country, and he is going to be not the most popular Bryan in country. 23. I said what I've said. Plus Riley Green's vocal has to be one of the flattest I have heard, especially when Cole Swindell/Jameson Rodgers exist. 22. This is classified as pop on iTunes so idk why it is here anyway, and it is not even a good pop song. 21. Expected bottom 5 finish for Zach Bryan. Still laughable at how many people would prefer songs that are genuinely bad like Y'all Life than this one which actually is kind of a bop and has a nice thumping ending. 20. Well sung but Jimmie Allen at his best is still radio fodders. Habits & Hearts from the same album is slightly more meaningful from him but it is a piano ballad. 19. This actually sounds like a minor key Jason Aldean rock song and sure enough, it is produced by him lol. Therefore, nope. 18. Too many lyrical tropes, but I agree with the Billboard article saying that this is his most sincere song. 17. This is just too boring to like. 16. Dude has been dropping double-sided singles every month. That album is going to be double album at least. 15. Don't really care about the pop production (reverbs in vocals). 14. The first verse isn't good, but the chorus kinda saves it. However I don't think the pun is good at all. 13. I want to like this song but it never clicked with me. It feels too slow and dreary. Also the worst Lori McKenna co-wrote song (out of three) in the album. 12. Chorus is just Where Were You. From the promos given to this song I wouldn't be surprised this is their next single. I don't think CoJo and Zac Brown has any chemistry at all though. 11. This is okay. No big flaws but not particularly impressive.
This top 10 is hardly surprising, although Alana Springsteen could be interchangeable with Temecula Road I guess.

Yeah I feel like I would probably think "Quittin' Time" was pretty good if Josh Turner had gotten his hands on it or something!

This top 10 is hardly surprising, although Alana Springsteen could be interchangeable with Temecula Road I guess. This sentiment ends up being correct, as Alana Springsteen is the first to go in this top 10, and really wasn't competitive enough to have much of a chance of doing any better than that. Temecula Road could have easily ended up switching in if we had gotten another list or two that was more kind to them than to Alana. This was bigfan101 's request, and also ended up being taylor 's #1, so I'm sure they're both glad to see how well it did here! Personally, I feel like I may have overranked it a tad, as the gap between "while you're" and "at it" every.single.time she says it has started to annoy me slightly the more I have heard the song... But otherwise this is still a pretty good song imo, and her voice sounds great, and I loved the dobro, and overall it just seemed to have more of a memorable identity than a lot of other songs I have heard from her! (She has put out quite a few random songs through the years that I have chosen not to add to this series because they leave almost no impression on me...)

"Someday It'll All Make Sense" is traditional country goodness and I've always loved Bill Anderson, but totally thought he was dead, so finding out he was alive was a pleasant surprise lol.
"Good With Goodbye" was gorgeous so I'm not sure why it's out so low, but here we are.
Those two did not deserve to be out so early

"Y'all Life" really isn't different at all from "Fancy Like" and "U Gurl" to me. It's a jam, but not strong enough to make my top 10 this month.
"Country On" is horrid, very trite and cliche and I think Luke Bryan sounds dreadful on it.
I actually didn't hate "Way Home" at all. Definitely better than a lot of the stuff Tyler Hubbard releases, but I can't say I'd purposely revisit it either.
"Honky Tonk Land" is another jam from Easton Corbin. Loves it..
"History Repeats" has one hell of a melody! And I've always LOVED Josh Gracin.
"Just 4 July" is the second Sykamore song I like lol. I really enjoy her voice, but have been disappointed in a lot of her music tbh..
"A Guitar, A Singer, and a Song" was very traditional leaning, which I appreciate, but man... it was so BORING!
Thank God Cody Johnson was on "Wild Palomino" cuz he saved it for me and the song is actually really good, very pleasant melody.
Can't remember how "Heartbreak In Boots" goes at all I just remember finding it mundane and uninteresting.
"While You're At It" was solid, but didn't really stick with me so it ended up a bit lower for me.
"If He Wanted To He Would" is great! I really love the lyrics, so true! And it's very pleasing to my ear melodically too.

Oh yeah, I found the lyrics to "I Hope She's Drinkin' Tonight" to be one of the least problematic parts tbh. The song is not a jam, it's not catchy, and Riley Green sounds awful on it.
Speaking of sounding awful, Zach Bryan... "Quittin' Time" might be an ok song otherwise but his voice is tragic and makes it unlistenable.

I don't really like Kylie Morgan's voice all that much yet, but "If He Wanted To He Would" is a solid enough song that definitely seems like it might toe the line between fitting her style and having mass appeal! As Flops said, I think the lyrics have a great message. Will be interesting to see if this is a hit for her.

I have no idea if "Brown Eyes Baby" actually deserves my top 5 rank or if I was just overexcited by Keith Urban finally releasing something that is legit not the auditory equivalent of pond scum, but either way I am very glad to see him sneak into the top 10 here! And actually "sneak" may not be a valid term, as he settled in pretty comfortably to the 6-8 range for the majority of the rankdown.
More of this please, Keith!!!!!! I actually hear elements of the artist that he used to be prior to 2014!

Forgot a couple lol catching up is hard
"Missing You" wasn't good and I still don't like Hunter's voice, and it really didn't sound all that country to me either if I remember it correctly lol which admittedly, I might be hearing it in my head wrong now
"get you a girl" is one of Jimmie Allen's more underwhelming offerings, I am ok with it but hope it grows on me.

"All Summer" is our first multi-#1 loss, this time affecting three people: LBTrocks , SHOOTER , and .indulgecountry . This song proved to be a really strong contender, hanging out in the top 10 for nearly the entire rankdown. Unfortunately for its fans, there were a handful of bottom 10 ranks holding it down like an anchor, preventing it from being the top 5 contender that I honestly expected it to be. Actually, I get it. I can totally see where someone might not like the melody of this song. I personally think it is an ear worm that has only grown on me more every time I have heard it! But I think it is one of those songs that will lend itself more to extreme opinions than ambivalence.

"Brown Eyes Baby" was pleasant for sure. I don't love it or anything, but have let it play on the radio and liked it fine.
"All Summer" is a JAM! I love how they had this but went with "Hell Yeah" instead lol. What kind of mess. Anyway, wish this could have made top 5, but I'll take top 10.
