However, was I supposed to know what Tennessee Orange refers to? Like I don't give a damn about college football? or equivalent, but I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be a common sense in the US. I think when the target demo knows what "Tennessee Orange" means, then it is good enough.

I may have underranked this, it is solid for ZBB, who has been awful lately. I absolutely hate their current single, so I was kind of harsh on them, but to be fair, this has a good melody.

I can't get over just how bored I am by Zac Brown Band these days. I actually thought they were very consistently enjoyable back in their prime, which can't be said for many on Pulse, but lately Zac's voice has just been really rubbing me the wrong way. It's like he's started producing it in a way that just immediately sets my teeth on edge. When he starts singing on this song, I immediately want to turn it off. That being said, the melody is pretty solid, and the Ingrid feature is great! So there really isn't a single good reason for me to not want to listen to this... I put it pretty high due to the overall strength of the song, even though I have very little interest in revisiting it...

Honestly wasn't expecting to like "Brave Girl" as much as I did!
"back in the saddle" is alright but it's no "Never Til Now"
The two main reasons I wasn't expecting "Bury Me In Georgia" to do so well cuz of the auto-tune and the fact that it is so rock-leaning, but I'm pleasantly surprised it made the top 20! "Whiskey Sour" is the best song on the album but I honestly love this one just as much! Kane Brown does this style SO well.
David Nail continues to do nothing for me as an artist.
"Tennessee Orange" is so basic and generic. I don't hear anything special.
"A Special Place" is a jam! I typically find Danielle Bradbury to be incredibly dull but this one is a bop! I love it when she puts a little edge into her music!
I actually enjoyed "Any day Now" lol thanks Ingrid for making ZBB tolerable!
"Willy The Wandering Gypsy And Me' is a good ol' country song and George's cover of it is fantastic! Glad it almost made the top 10.

Spoiler alert: I may include a song which is a Billy Joe Shaver cover in my annual personal rankdown, but it is not from this album.

recordyear got it right!! The George Strait cover was indeed the odd song of the bunch, and in fact I am shocked that this nearly made the top 10. And when I say "nearly", it could not possibly have been any closer while still missing out! This tied with the #10 song, but lost the tie due to the #10 song having multiple top 2 ranks George's vocal is ROUGH in places here, but it is also the sort of song that kinda lends itself to that kind of sound... Since he hasn't put out much for a couple years now, it is hard to tell how much of it is his voice starting to age and how much of it is an intentional artistic choice to honor the spirit of this song. I have no doubt it's a mixture of both. Either way, I would be willing to bet that George's name took this a LOT further than most other artists would have been able to take a song like this... Which I'm not complaining about, because he's an artist who I can't wait to see how well he is able to do in this series once he finally puts out something new, and if a boring cover was able to do THIS well, that bodes really well for his eventual new solo music

"Tennessee Orange" is a grower for me, thanks to Spotify overplaying it for me. I really like it now, and good to see that she may be becoming a new successful female. However, was I supposed to know what Tennessee Orange refers to? Like I don't give a damn about college football? or equivalent, but I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be a common sense in the US. Also, she must have fallen in love pretty hard, as man, I used to have a baseball team with orange uniform I hated back home and I would refuse to wear that orange no matter what. The University of Tennessee has a very distinct shade of orange that I don’t believe any other major sports team/university shares. To most, it’s a hideous shade of orange. So the fact she’s wearing Tennessee Orange for him, not only because she’s a Georgia fan, but also because it’s just an ugly color, I think adds to the hook. I hadn’t thought of how some people may not completely get the reference, but everyone in the southeast and all who follow college sports certainly get the reference in full.

It's like he's started producing it in a way that just immediately sets my teeth on edge. When he starts singing on this song, I immediately want to turn it off. Even as the host of ZBB rankdown I have to agree lol. I think his voice is produced too upfront since The Owl. However, there ought to be a better female duet partner from Warner Nashville for this song right? Ingrid Andress singing "truck" caught me off-guard for how unconvincing it is given her pop-country style.

20. Another "missing comma" song with decent story I guess. 19. This is the best song of his album, which is not saying much in the grand scheme but it really is and sounds like a decent hit. 18. What a forgettable hook imo. 17. Hate the beat and the overdone theme. 16. The harmonica is slightly fun. 15. Like the chorus, although the drums sounds too loud sometimes. It's closer to his original lane of sound than his recent releases in years. 14. Don't care her vocals tbh but it has decent yet typical waltz melody. Not related but she looks like Michelle Joy (from Cannons) in promo photos. 13. I mean it is probably Maren Morris scrapped song, which sounds better in thought than in reality.

Sorry to take so long; I got distracted on YouTube by some live Martina videos 😂 But man, what a damn earworm!!!! This song has been living rent free in my head playing on repeat over and over in my mind since the moment I heard it! I can't believe this had ANY bottom 10 ranks, let alone four of them Alexandra sounds amazing, and the melody is probably the most hit-worthy that I have heard from her. Y'all need to come correct next time! Fortunately 🌺CountryLineDancer helped me get this into the top 10 thanks to our multiple top 2 ranks giving it the edge in the tie-breaker against George!

Damn, I thought this would make it to the top 5. I have been enjoying her materials quite a while before Pulse, and I was pleasantly surprised to see her getting some recognition here. She has a beautiful voice, and her delivery is fantastic. This is one of her strongest outputs for sure, love the vocal arrangement and melody. I'm hoping she would make it to mainstream one day.
Also she sounds so much like Teigen Gayse in this song, (some of y'all ranked I Don't Wanna Fall In Love Anymore in Canadian RD last year).

I can't believe this boring sex pun made the top 10, especially beating an absolute melodic jam like "Skip This Part". I guess that's a little harsh, because this is definitely a solid song, and MUCH better than the title would lead you to believe! But the production is so sparse that it holds up to repeat listens about as well as acoustic versions of songs do....
So yeah, I'll never turn it off or anything! But I'm glad it's leaving now.
The three #1 ranks don't lie though!!! There is a noticeable amount of love for this song here, so for those who love it, I'm glad it could do so well for you!

I was a little surprised to see Madeline Merlo being such a constant presence in the top 10 since she's not one of those female artists who is guaranteed to place well in rankdowns, but this song secured a top half rank from basically everybody (except for a very random outlier rank from tim), making it one of our least polarizing songs and one of the strongest top 10 contenders in this list!

Glad to see "I Need A Drink" making it all the way here. Slide is a better song imo, so y'all go rank it in Canadian Country RD! Madeline Merlo is still my favourite pop country act up in Canada.

Gotta be a bit disappointing for 🌺CountryLineDancer to see both of the Canadian ladies leaving us back-to-back. But then again, look at which names are left! Madeline and Tenille both made it to the doorstep of people who I would say are pretty safe to call Pulse Greats at this point, so these placements for them are definitely nothing to sneeze at!! Tenille in particular has been incredibly consistent in this series, as it seems her songs always make it to right here in the 6-7 range, lmao. "The Last Time" was actually a pretty solid top 5 contender, until the final stretch of the submission process when it settled in at #7 and stayed there.

I was kinda okay with Tenille Townes for a while, but "The Last Time" is a great tune. Also good to see LBTrocks quit disliking her.
