I gotta give props to Priscilla Block a bit with this one: I think "Hey, Jack" is possibly the best thing I've heard from her thus far. It still doesn't hold a candle to what most of the ladies in the genre are putting out, because the bar is HIGH, but this is actually halfway a bop imo. That said, she still underperformed in the confines of this rankdown and rounds out the bottom 5. Only two people ranked it lower than where she ended up, but the overwhelming majority had this in the teens aside from a lone top 5 rank from kluen.

Great start with four of my bottom six in first five reveals.
25. Still don't like loosely religious tune in (mainstream) country music. Russell Dickerson still has terrible vocals as well. 24. This version just isn't sexy to me at all. 23. This really has 1.75/5 (16 ratings) on Rate Your Music. It's not that bad but some of her vocals here reminds me of late career Madonna for some reason. 22. This needs to be even more overblown to work, but that risks of drowning her vocals so I am not even sure about that. 21. Eventually the "Jack as both a male and an alcohol drink" pun will wear itself out with how overused it is nowadays, and it probably starts here which is a nothingburger aside from the said pun.

Red Dirt Church-- Ok, I guess. Church in a Chevy by Jordan Davis was much better. (Drinking Beer talking god Amen was not)
I'm on Fire-- Not terrible, just filtered down. Always found this one a little creepy (hey little girl is your daddy home. Even if she's of age... creepy). Also, it's a Spotify exclusive, so had to jump through hoops to hear as an Apple Music person. I'm guessing Riaan's first language is not (not a knock, just an observation).
Alarm Clock-- Not a bad song, just nowhere near country to me. With the lack of any real turds in this month's punch bowl, went to the bottom.
Swampers-- I felt the country in this one, swampy as stated. Hit that Jackson Dean/Travis Tritt/Hank Jr. groove.
Hey, Jack-- Ok but nothing extra.

90s country star Suzy Bogguss resurfaced last fall with a new album, Praying for Sunshine, her first in quite awhile, and "It All Falls Down to the River" served as its lead single released just before the full record. Darkest Hour sadly becomes our first participant to lose their #1 rank, just outside the bottom 5 this month as Suzy comes ahead of Priscilla by only 3 points. Three others put this in their top 10, but most had it bottom half in their ranks, including a #25 from zaclord 🌈.

Kenny Chesney's latest lead single is the loser of the tiebreaker due to having a lone #1 rank from 🌺CountryLineDancer. "Take Her Home" landed in four other poster's top 10 ranks, but it also managed five bottom 5 ranks which heavily weighed it down, including a pair of #25s from myself and SHOOTER.

"Diamond" by Callista Clark is the winner of the tiebreaker, thanks to securing TWO #1 ranks, courtesy of bboat11 and LBTrocks, both of which came at the end of the submission process. I never expected this to double up on #1 ranks, so that surprised me a bit. I... like this, but she's done better. I do feel bad that Big Machine gave up on her so quick, especially since her debut single randomly got enough traction to make the top 20 at country radio a couple years back. Kris Kringle had it at #2, but there was a big gap back to where everyone else ranked it, and it included a #25 from kw9461.

Bryce Leatherwood won The Voice about a year ago, and "The Finger" marked his first recorded offering since signing with UMG. This clever play on a breakup found its way to a pair of #2 rankings, though most slotted it somewhere in the teens. It had a handful of bottom 5s, however, including 🌺CountryLineDancer's #25, which he loses just after his #1 bowed out of the competition.

Jenny Tolman's "Timbuktu" lands shy of the top 15. She didn't get any top 5 ranks, but she did end up getting a trio of #6s and a pair of other top 10s and a few just outside of it. OTOH, she had a trio of bottom 5s, so it's not surprising that it averages out to land right around the middle.

Eli Young Band enlisted the help of newcomer George Birge for a cover rendition of Little Texas' 90s hit "Amy's Back in Austin," and curiously enough their version even briefly charted at the bottom of the country charts back in January for a week. This throwback bop was solid, and placed in five poster's top 5s, but the bulk of its ranks landed in the teens, so a #15 finish for it seems fitting.

We have another tie on our hands, and this time the tiebreaker is won in the favor of Cole Swindell's "3 Feet Tall," as he managed to pull double-duty on #1 ranks just like with our last tied pairing. Condolences to castleoblivion26 and nuggie99 for being the latest to see their favorite song bow out. This poignant reflection on divorce through the eyes of a small child wound up being rather polarizing as it got quite a few very high ranks, a lot in the middle, and a trio of bottom 2s. I will say, I'm surprised this never went to radio as I fully expected this to be something to get Cole back in the good graces of radio after the misfire that was "Drinkaby." For me personally, this is a superb song, I just couldn't rank it very high because Cole's interpretation skills as a vocalist just couldn't be more disconnected and lacking. This is one of the best things I've heard from him, but it would be infinitely better in the hands of... dozens of other stronger singers who could actually make me feel the emotions this sort of song is supposed to deliver.

the lyrics of "3 Feet Tall" won me over. Cole is still a subpar vocalist but this one doesn't need spectacular vocals to be good. Do think this not being a single is a missed opportunity.

At least It All Falls Down to the River escaped bottom 5. It did stand out from this list from homemade production and political lyrics but it's still great. Her voice is so good after all these years too.
Take Her Home is probably an AI country song.
Don't like the chorus of Diamond.
The Finger sounds so faceless.
Timbutku is sweet for a veteran tribute song.
Don't want to rank this version of Amy's Back in Austin high because this has zero artistic value and I seriously do not want to rank this in year-end rankdown just because it charted on country airplay for a week, but it's decent all things considered.
Cole Swindell still randomly cuts some of the more touching songs in mainstream from time to time, and I appreciate the wordplay in 3 Feet Tall being not as obvious as other songs in this vein.

It all Falls Down to the River-- I was a big fan of Suzy Bogguss back in the day. However, this one didn't grab me. I din't annoy me or anything so it landed in the middle.
Take Her Home-- Not bad, but I'm not that big of a Kenny Chesney fan. As an aside, ain't nobody listening to deep cut Cheap Trick. You're getting I Want You to Want Me, maybe The Flame on a good day. That's it.
Diamonds-- I thought this was fine, but nothing to get excited over.
The Finger-- This was nioce wordplay, but Chuck Mead's was much better.
Timbuktu-- Sad and slow, but not too slow. Really liked this.
Amy's Back in Austin-- Didn't really add anything to original and just kinda there. I typically like the Eli Young Band, but don't really have anything for Birge yet. (Has Anybody Seen Amy might be the better 90s Amy song, chart positions not withstanding.)
3 Feet Tall-- Never went through a divorce (either as the kid or the spouse) but my sister did and this really reminded me of my nephew. Thought it really captured the emotions of what it would feel like. (Although it should have been a Justin Moore song, since he IS 3 Feet Tall)

These reveals are a mess “Diamond” is a jam and a half and I have no idea why it’s so low here. bboat11 and I are the only ones with taste apparently, lol The Eli Young Band song was country gold and I usually don’t like them. “The Finger” is solid but I’m not a fan of this Bryce Leatherwood guy. His voice is meh af, find it hard to believe it he was the best The Voice had to offer that season. That “Timbuktu” song was completely unlistenable
