Ella Langley's latest uptempo bop had a strong run in this RD. "Paint the Town Blue" landed at #1 on tim's list and in the top 10 of eight others. It did manage to wind up with three outlier bottom 10 ranks though.

In what may come as a shock to many, Carly Pearce misses the top 2 with "Heels Over Head." This song had a huge burn rate for me and I wound up finding it just very cheap and reductive. So far she hasn't delivered a truly great song from her forthcoming 4th album era imo. I was not in alone in my thoughts as she had a handful of ranks in the mid teens and a pair of other bottom 10s alongside mine, including LBTrocks last place rank. That said, she did accumulate a trio of #1 ranks courtesy of 🌺CountryLineDancer, zaclord 🌈, and kw9461.

Paint the Town Blue-- This has grown on me through Apple Music Country and Xm play since the rankdown. Probably got a lower vote because I didn't like the Koe Wetzel duet at all.
Heels Over Head-- This was OK. "Cheap and reductive"... very good description.

“Heels Over Head” is disgusting. Straight up mean girl shit. I love how the narrator is like it ain’t up to me to judge her but the whole song is literally the narrator JUDGING her. I also found the sexual innuendos to be extremely distasteful given the context here. I don’t think this other woman is the problem here… I think the narrator is.
Hard pass and glad this did not win.

The lyrics of Heels Over Head being Better Than Revenge (stolen version) 2.0 becomes a breaking point for someone, interesting. I think the pause and chord change in chorus give a bit more character for this kind of song, however.
So maybe Reba wins?

"Heels Over Head" is easily my best fav song from Carly, and considering I have so many of her songs that I love, that means a lot. Also one of the best releases in 2023. 10/10 for lyrics, production, and melody.

Pardon my double postings, but I must agree that Ella Langley is also the one that deserves to release a radio single. Long overdue. I was supposed to see her opening for Pardi, and it was a huge disappointment that she was taken off after rescheduling.

With a 2-point margin of victory, Catie Offerman defeats the juggernaut that is Reba McEntire. "OK Cowboy" and "Seven Minutes in Heaven" each boasted a pair of #1 rankings ( kluen and George Strait Junkie for Catie, SHOOTER and castleoblivion26 for Reba), and a slew of top 10 ranks. That said, both had their fair share of detractors as well as Catie's song ended up bottom half for three posters, while Reba's was bottom half for four. It ended up being a close race in the end with the two of them (and Carly Pearce for awhile) rotating regularly between who was on top, but ultimately in the end it was the underdog who secured the bag.

Did not expect this winner, but no complaint, and I’m glad that my ranking helped it! I enjoye Carie’s neotraditional style, and "OK Cowboy" was no exception. Shame she flopped with her mainstream radio attempt…

7 Minutes in Heaven-- musically this was fine. Theologically, not so much. A little cheesy for me.
Ok, Cowboy-- Liked this one though. Very nice and a worthy champ.

Surprising but not a bad winner. Can Catie Offerman drop an EP or better yet an album instead of endless singles though?

Wow one of my #1 picks actually hit #1 on one of these rankings sweet .I absolutely love Catie. I’m all in on her. got to see her live. and, she impressed me even more when I found out that girl can play the fiddle. and, play it damn good she did. Can’t wait for the songs she played that night that still ain’t been released yet.

Catie Offerman was stellar when I saw her live in December… all acoustic set. Incredibly charming lady and songs were strong melodically with a lot of personality. “OK Cowboy” is a total BOP and I’m glad it beat out the boring Reba song.
That said, “Seven Minutes In Heaven” has grown on me slightly since ranking it here. Nothing I’m going to go out of my way to hear, but musically I disliked it less over time. Lyrics are sweet I guess, not my thing tho.

.indulgecountry thanks for hosting. My internet is currently down and I might need to have my provider come out tomorrow fix, but as soon as I do I will send my November/December list. Worse case scenario I use my phone… either way I will have my list by end of day tomorrow lol if that is ok.

We kick off the Nov/Dec reveals with our last place, "Red Dirt Church" from Russell Dickerson's self-titled album's re-release found the polarizing singer collaborating with Christian rock band NEEDTOBREATHE. Not a single participant slotted this in their top 10, though George Strait Junkie came close with a #11. OTOH, two posters lose their last place right off the bat. Only three points separate this from our next-highest song, and it was basically a competition between that song and this one for #25 the entire submission period.

The other contender for last place, we find another male collaboration biting the dust as Ian Munsick's Western cover of Bruce Springsteen's "I'm on Fire" with Riaan Benadé bows out next, albeit only 3 points ahead of Russell's track. Unlike Russell, Ian was able to secure a pair of top 5 ranks from myself and 🌺CountryLineDancer. Despite this, seven posters lose a bottom 5 rank. Ian Munsick has a very... unique voice that doesn't seem to resonate with most on Pulse thus far, but he's really struck a chord with me over the past year thanks to the White Buffalo LP and has become one of my favorite males in the genre.

Country adjacent-Sheryl Crow dropped the lead single to her forthcoming project, "Alarm Clock," this past fall. This country rock number didn't go over too well with the participant pool and racked up bottom 5 ranks from exactly half of the submissions, three of which were #25s. OTOH, it did manage three top 10 ranks which allowed it to stay ahead of the two collaborations that were revealed first.

Next to go is another country rocker, this time "Swampers" from Rachel Wammack. A small pocket of support for this one was bolstered by my own #6 rank, though it managed four other top half ranks. The majority slotted this toward the bottom of their list, however, and it pretty much solidified its bottom 5 fate.
