HeyHeyHey and ClevelandRox are the next two to lose their #1 with "I Was On A Boat That Day". This song has had a much stronger reaction on Pulse than Old Dominion normally gets, so it isn't really surprising to me that it did so well here! I think this one is quite fun! I might rank it higher now than I did initially. It'll be interesting to see how this does in the year-end rankdown!

Yeah no lol. Y’all, this month’s RD has suddenly turned into one of the steamiest messes I’ve ever seen!!! Old Dominion in the Top 5 with THIS?! “Buy Dirt” in the Top 10?! “Geraldine” being underappreciated enough to miss the Top 10? One of MirLam’s most haunting vocals outside the Top 5?! What on Earth?!?!?!?! And “I Wanna Remember” deserved better too; it should have finished LIGHTYEARS ahead of songs like “Buy Dirt.” I’m truly baffled. At least Tenille is still in this I guess. Her win would be the redemption moment this rankdown needs!

"Where Her Heart Has Always Been" leaves us next. This was castleoblivion26's request from Alan's new album, and I'd say it was a good one based on how it performed here! In fact, I was SHOCKED how well this one performed here!! Not only was it a top 10 contender for the entire submission process, but it also barely even left the top 5!!!! It was our first consistent #1 contender once things started to settle into place after the first few lists. And it was ranked in the top 10 by literally half of us! I thought it was a little boring at first, and there is no doubt that it is still on the more subdued end of this list....but it's got a classic Alan melody that no doubt connects with people. Lines like "Now she's dancing in the wind" allow his voice to shine in the ways it has always done best!

Cute sentiment and all AJ, but this song was painfully boring. I'm genuinely shocked it held on this long, especially after "Back" bowed out early on. I thought was a pretty average song, but it was miles better than this snooze imo.

Oh yeah, I meant to post a few more of these I should have kept suggesting because the Alan Jackson and Miranda Lambert picks are far from album best. 6. "They've Closed Down The Honky Tonks" - Miranda Lambert
4. "Where Her Heart Has Always Been" - Alan Jackson

Really good song from Parker - not as good as “Pretty Heart” or “Young Man’s Blues” though.

Parker McCollum continues to be one of the best-received newer male artists on Pulse (even despite how much we all hate his upcoming debut album cover!!) He of course was the first male to ever win one of these rankdowns when he took "Young Man's Blues" to the top last year. "Drinkin" was a strong competitor as well, as it climbed all the way up to #2 and held on tight in the last 1/3 of this rankdown! The real #2 ended up sneaking ahead of it in the last couple lists, but he still held strong at #3. Neither this one or our real #2 ended up even having a CHANCE of finishing at #1... By the time they were fighting each other, they were jostling for #2 and #3 while our runaway #1 solidified its lead even more

I didn't participate but look at Tenille Arts slaying this Rankdown. She is so talented, likable and I love everything about her style of country-pop. She deserves all the success in the world and "Back Then, Right Now" that sounds like something out of the early 2000s in country music. Love Tenille Arts!

Obviously was pulling for Michael but honestly not by that much lol. Still THRILLED to see "Picture" make top 2, and equally as thrilled that the flawless Tenille Arts came out on top, where she belongs. She's so fantastic. Her voice is heavenly and her music is great. Love, love, love this woman! I do love "Picture" but honestly with "Got No Choice" by Queen Brooke and "What The Stars See" by Cassadee, Karen, and Lindsay Ell... there was no way Michael was gonna be able to get any higher than 3 for me here. All three are excellent songs by excellent artists. WTSS is a total jam, killer melody and Karen and Lindsay ROCKED it! Brooke got screwed... "Got No Choice" is a fantastic song melodically and lyrically, it's a perfect summer jam, and Brooke's vocals are just out of this WORLD amazing! So yeah, tanks tim for tanking... also hi can you explain why you HATE Brooke Eden so much omg she is seriously such a ray of sunshine in this world, both musically and personality wise! Of all the artists you had to decide to despise it had to be her?! WHY?!?! I absolutely adore her. Everyone needs to follow her on TikTok if you aren't, it will make your day-to-day life so much better! Thanks for hosting bboat11 - this was a rollercoaster for sure. Interested... and scared, to see what next month's RD holds. Plz include the song I suggested lol k thanks bye.

There we have it! Michael Ray continues to be one of the best-performing male artists in this series! He has only been here twice, but both times saw him getting a #2 finish! (The first time was "Whiskey And Rain" which fell short of Carly Pearce's "Next Girl" last September.) Can he win someday? Hopefully he releases more new music soon so we can see! Tenille Arts proved to be the dominant force of this rankdown though. After the first #8 rank from George Strait Junkie, she jumped immediately into the top 4, climbed rapidly to the top, and then never looked back! I don't think "Back Then, Right Now" is anywhere near her best, and it probably only benefits from winning this month because it wasn't nearly as strong of a month as we have seen occasionally before (like this totally wouldn't have even attempted to win if it had been up against "Drunk (And I Don't Wanna Go Home)" a couple months ago, lmao), but I am still really happy because I am rooting for Tenille's long-term success!!!! After "Somebody Like That" won the 2020 Canadian Country year-end rankdown a few weeks ago and now this one won here, she is experiencing quite a bit of a Pulse High to go along with her real-life career high of having her first #1 hit with "Somebody Like That" a couple months ago! Thank you to everyone who followed along and participated! I will post June's list VERY shortly!

Look at God, giving this messy ass RD the redemption story of Tenille winning the whole thing. She was FAR AND AWAY the best choice out of what was left and I’m glad she was given her due!

Meh. "Back Then" is Tenille's best single thus far, but it's still nothing special compared to 90% of the newer females releasing music right now. There could've been worse winners tho, so I'm not too upset. Michael Ray deserved tho.

{Thoughts}Got No Choice is repetitive lyrically and has meh groove.. At least she is not releasing music for a while so I won't have to listen to her music in this series for a while? I find the verses of Mood Ring more grating tbh. It doesn't fit their brand at all. (austin didn't submit for this?) Y'all just vote I Wanna Remember high because of Carrie Underwood lol. The male vocalist of NEEDTOBREATHE sounds like disposable pop rock groups leaders. The interpolation of Jolene in Geraldene is cool, but it's still far from album's best. What The Stars See sounds like those bad pop rock hits circa 2000s. And how's Cyberpunk relevant to the song at all? Streets is a decent song about returning to normalcy. In a way this also calls back to album title track. That piano melody sounds so familiar though. (and I found Jordan did not join this rankdown) 10-4 is so contemporary radio sounding it's saddening. I also thought the phrase would be used in a more interesting way. Slide still has that Gary Allan's style which is good, but the outro with his soaring vocals is weird. Buy Dirt is surprisingly decent. Sappy story aside, at least the acoustic instrumentation feels less annoying than quite a few songs here. They've Closed Down The Honky Tonks is pretty good though? And I ain't even that much traditional country fans, but the songwriting>>> Old Dominion's first singles since second album didn't miss. I Was On A Boat That Day is rightfully a big hit for them with the accordion touch. The Mavericks would have killed this though. The gospel influence of Where Her Heart Has Always Been is good but can be a bit boring after a while. The lyrics of Drinkin' are very weak. It's the gorgeous steel guitar solo that saves this. Picture is just a lame In Colors re-write. The drums in Back Then, Right Now are also too loud. I also don't really like the message of "old days" must be "good", which is too pandering to "nostalgic" trend. Her vocals are still decent though, but her upcoming album looks like weaker than the previous one. Judging from what I have heard June's is still weak. SEX is one of the worst songs in Ruthless. Edit: No Briefcase by Walker Hayes ft. Lori McKenna here? bboat11

Weak rankdown, etc.
