It was so nice of them to invite Lindsay Ell to haul her ass into the studio just to sing one line at the start of the 3rd chorus so she could get a featured credit Generous queens!!! Joking aside, this is a great collaboration! Cassadee and Karen sound like they're in top form, and I imagine Lindsay probably did more than we realize, like playing all the kick-ass electric guitar and maybe doing background vocals. My only complaint with this is that the production is VERY loud (as recordyear hinted at when he said why he put it in last place), but almost in a cheap-sounding sort of way. Still, I am stoked to hear more from Cassadee, and I hope she is working on more new stuff! Edit: Wait, maybe it's Karen at the start of the 3rd chorus... I could have sworn I heard a solo line from Lindsay somewhere in here though?? But now I can't seem to find it. Maybe she's just the equivalent of Keith Urban on "Highway Don't Care"!

I don't love the melody of "Geraldene", but the issue is this production of this whole album. I hate this kind of production, so unfortunately it ended up at my #25. I understand what they are doing, but it's not my thing and I'm very ready for studio versions.

Kenny Chesney had an interesting trajectory here. Most of his low ranks came early on, and most of his high ranks came near the middle/end, leading to him barely being a top 20 contender and then suddenly rocketing up all the way to being a top 8 contender! It wasn't until SHOOTER's bottom 2 rank right at the end that it lost its comfortable cushion in the top 10 and fell from #7 to #10. This was tim's request from Kenny's new Deluxe edition of his last album. And it did really well here, and probably exceeded most people's expectations!! I think this one is beautiful. Kenny actually sounds really good here, and it has great imagery in the lyrics. I can see people maybe finding it to be boring, "Sunday Birmingham"-style, but I felt like Kenny touched on the melancholy emotions of the song just right personally.

After Sam Williams left at #9 last month with "Can't Fool Your Own Blood", "10-4" was suggested as a song showing off another side of his style that people might like more. And to me, this song definitely did its job! His voice sounds MUCH better on this song to me than it did last month! This song may have only been able to match his finish from last month, but considering that this month is a bit stronger than last month, the threshold to get to this point was a bit higher.

I was just thinking that "10-4" might be next as I couldn't see it mustering up enough support to get any higher. I'm glad to see that Sam seems to be picking up some fans here on Pulse! I know that from last months rankdown the biggest issue expressed seemed to be that a handful from the group didn't like his voice, but to me that is what makes him so unique. I'm really excited for him and happy to see that he got signed to a major label!

"Slide" was my fav discovery of this RD (I somehow missed it when it came out). Also, Waste Of A Whiskey Drink has been on repeat recently for some reasons.

"Slide" is the first song where I would say it is safe to say that everybody liked it at least a little bit! This song was not polarizing at all, and is our first song to not have any bottom 5 ranks. The majority of us had it in our top 15. Despite the absence of extreme low ranks, it was never able to muster much more than the bottom of the top 10. Many of the songs that are left had more extreme high ranks, which this one was never quite able to compete with. Nobody requested "Slide" (I saw you kinda ask about that in your predictions đșCountryLineDancer), but rather I gave a listen to the 2-3 pre-release tracks that were available from Gary's new album at the time and I decided this one was the best. Clearly I chose well!!! d3vin44 has requested "SEX" for next month, so we can look forward to that!

"Buy Dirt" was heavily requested by like 5 of you this month, so it's no surprise that it should do well here! It was one of the few songs to be a top 10 contender for the entire submission process, and even managed to be a #1 contender a couple of times! Unfortunately for its fans, this song was also our second most polarizing song, and the low ranks caught up with it by the end and resulted in it getting gradually lower for almost the whole rankdown after a strong start. Despite the eagerness surrounding this song, bigfan101 is the only person to lose a #1. tim finally loses his last place.

"They've Closed Down The Honky Tonks" was in a similar boat to Gary's "Slide", in that nobody really seemed to outright hate it based on the numbers. I'm one of the lower rankers, but I did like it a lot! My biggest complaint with Miranda's Marfa sound lately is that it sounds like unfinished demos. And that is 100% intentional, but it still just isn't everybody's cup of tea. I know this isn't a Marfa song, but it was still recorded in the same style. I do like it a LOT better than anything I have heard from The Marfa Tapes though! Similar to "Geraldene" being on the cusp of the top 10, this one was always on the cusp of the top 5. In the end, things were so close in this region that SHOOTER's final #11 rank was enough to bump it out of the top 5.

That dreary Alan Jackson song does not belong in this top 5.
