I will quit now. #18 will give us our 2nd #1 loss, so this way we can still leave it in suspense ;)

Brave was okay - his voice is unique for sure.
I was not feeling this Loretta Lynn song at all, sorry lol.

#18 is about where I'm expecting my #1 to go, so you might as well put me out of my misery! 😂
I thought Loretta did great with Patsy's classic and it was very "Loretta". Glad it was included so I could hear it.

Loretta’s “I Fall to Pieces” was another one of my favorite discoveries from the rankdown! I didn’t think it’d make it outside of the bottom five so it at least somewhat exceeded that expectation. This song also made me want order and read Loretta’s book about her time with the late Patsy Cline...which I’m looking to do soon!

I’d be surprised if a song by John Anderson could escape the bottom five here, so I’d have to guess “Years” leaves next. That said, I can’t see someone putting that as their #1 so who knows...

Anyway, Loretta Lynn's cover of Patsy Cline's "I Fall To Pieces" definitely felt out of place in this list. But I hate to say it; how many more of these rankdowns could Loretta potentially end up being a part of? The fact that she is still putting out music at all despite her advanced age and recent strokes and various health ailments through the years is amazing! Especially since she is one of the few living legends left who personally would have known Patsy.
As out of place as this song is on this list, I cannot help but marvel at how strong Loretta's voice is here! Sure, she sounds like an old lady, as expected. But she has always sounded like an old lady to me. Yet here she is after years of serious health issues making it precarious that she will even be able to sit in the audience at awards shows, and yet her high range is as strong and clear as ever! Age has gotten a bit of her breath support, but the ease with which she tackles the high notes in this song is simply amazing to me.

I think Ruston Kelly is a pretty mediocre artist from what I've heard of his music, but I actually didn't mind "Brave." That said, it was still one of the weakest things on this list, so... good to see it leaving about where it should.
"I Fall to Pieces" is a pleasant cover, but it's nothing special or anything. I'm glad Loretta is still making music though.

The lyrics to “Brave” are nearly unintelligible but I like the melody and the message. Eh the lyrics are quite clear to me. Inversions are not that difficult to understand. I just don't really care Ruston most of the time. It is not even really "dirt emo" as he says. I also probably won't go out to listen to Loretta's cover of I Fall To Pieces but it is decent enough for this list.

The only acceptable last place was last place. “One Margarita” is horrendous, the ‘one margarita two margarita three margarita shot” is SO bad and cringeworthy that it’s ridiculous. Glad y’all got this right.
“Cool Again” is alright for what it is but Kane Brown has proven he can do better and it is such a disappointment for a single especially since they sat on other worry singles from his album.
That is probably the ONLY time you will see me rank Lee Brice top 5 anything lol. “One of Them Girls” (aside from the horrid title and the fact that he could have EASILY chosen to use ‘those’ instead) is a total jam! The melody especially in the chorus is fantastic. Usually I’d be thrilled to see Lee this low, as I typically can’t stand his voice or music, but you guys really did this one dirty. . Overall tho this is off to a good start. I’m especially glad that “Talking To God” song is out; her voice is awful and the melody was meh to say the least.
Oh, and I’ll gladly stick to Patsy’s “I Fall To Pieces” thanks lol.

I heard a great song in "Brave" but it was totally overshadowed by Ruston Kelly's voice; I thought he sounded just awful on this track. I don't really know anything else from him and this makes me not want to.

Doesn't seem to be the case here, but I feel like people (at least unconsciously) keep thinking of Ruston Kelly as Kacey's husband. Pretty wild statement, but I think he is better than her. He is a great artist, and I'm sad he is out this soon... I had some naive hopes he would make it higher.

A song that uses the same double meaning as Record Year. Decent country pop but nothing else.

We resume reveals with our second #1 loss, courtesy of Kanenrá:ke :'( Like I mentioned before reveals, "Record High" was one of my favorite discoveries here. In fact, I feel like I severely underranked it, and probably should have had it in my top 3 considering how obsessed with it I have been since making my list... I'm not totally sure why, but I am totally in love with Sykamore's voice. She has such a pleasant timbre to her voice. I especially love the way she delivers "Highway to hell" and "Stairway to heaven" in the beginning of the chorus. I am really eager to see her hopefully get a shot in the industry someday soon!

The Talking To God song sounds like a horrible demo production wise. I did not care for that song AT ALL.

I am really loving how Jana has continued to release one-off singles through the last couple years despite her radio days seeming to be behind her. I mentioned when this song was released that I have been way more aware of her lately with new music coming randomly every few months than I ever was when she was having entire albums that got pretty much ignored by radio. They have all been fantastic songs too imo! "Untouchable" is great, but I do feel like it is not very memorable alongside some other songs in this list, so I am not surprised by this placement.

Coming up next, a song that was a top 5 contender for a bit, and was a very solid top 10 contender for at least the first half of the submission process, before some of the lower ranks started catching up to it!

I was personally SHOCKED by how great "Years" was! John Anderson still sounds very recognizable and strong for his age. He has always had a very unique voice, and tbh I thought he wouldn't sound very good considering his recent health problems that led even him to believe that his career would probably be over. And yet here he is, releasing new music!
This pop-ballad production is very weird for him, and might turn some people off if they are expecting a more traditional style from him, but tbh I liked how unique it was! I was very pleased to see this be such a strong top 10 contender. Shame it got tanked as more lists came in.

It's nice to see Brad Paisley finally getting another hit, but tbh his old formulas are getting really stale and tired, and this one is quite possibly the stalest one I have heard yet... I tried to love it, but it is wearing on me extremely quickly.

With our #14, someguy is the 3rd person to lose their #1. BB🌕 also finally loses a last place. Rankings were all over the place; in fact, "Be A Light" managed to be our most polarizing song of the entire list!! Tbh, this song is fine for Thomas Rhett's standards. It is also amazing that he might be helping Reba become the first artist to ever score a #1 hit in FIVE consecutive decades!!!!!!! However, to me that is the only value of this song. "Pretty good for Thomas Rhett" doesn't add up to a whole lot when compared to most other artists and songs, imo

Well I knew my top 5 had to get destroyed at some point considering what I put there lol
I don't know why "Be A Light" clicked with me so much with me but I just love it! And "No I In Beer" doesn't compare to Brad's output from before that was in this vein, but it is good to have this side of him back again.

In the battle between the Dolly tributes, most people thought "WWDD" would be able to beat "Dolly 1969". However, everybody was wrong! "WWDD" bows out now at #13, and was in fact not ahead of Pam Tillis at any point during the submission process!
That being said, this placement is TRAGIC if you ask me... That chorus is pure ear candy! Lainey clearly cares about her country roots, which is nice to see in a day where most newer female artists are attempting to push the boundaries between country and pop, and I have really come to love her personality as well. Look forward to potentially seeing her show up again next month's list, as she is currently releasing a new song on the last Friday of every month for 4 months, starting with "WWDD"!
