I started on this playlist yesterday afternoon and just based on that I'd have to say this is shaping up to be one of the best months of new releases in a while. There's just an all around consistency to them that I'm hard-pressed to even find one song I outright dislike. And how great is it to hear new music from Tracy Lawrence?!

Not related to the RD of this month, but looks like our favourite from December RD "Horses In Heaven" by Kylie Frey is finally released as a radio single in Texas. Pretty sure it will reach #1 in Texas Regional Chart, but cannot wait to see her name in the mainstream chart, hopefully someday.

I'll go ahead and answer my own favorite discovery question! My favorite discovery was "True Crime" by Taylor Acorn. The entire vibe of that song was just on point! I especially loved the recurring lyrical ditty of "You caught me off guard" that gave the song a nice unifying motif to keep coming back to. I can't get that out of my head!
On top of that, I also got major Taylor Swift vibes from this song. And not just because they share a name, lmao. There are some similarities in their deliveries for sure. Like, "Now I can't even go to the South Side 'cause I fear that I'll run into you" at the start of the second verse literally could be Taylor Swift. The delivery of that line is a carbon copy of the way she would sound. Not to mention that "You stole my heart and you ran like a true crime" is literally the most Taylor Swift-sounding hook that anybody not named Taylor Swift has ever written 😂

I highly recommend Taylor’s IG or TikTok, she does some great covers there.
Also, she was on Bobby Bones recently, and her live performance is on YT. Her live vocals are also so good and on point.
I’m hopeful someone will pick her up. She’s got a lot of buzz!
