I'm just happy that Caroline Jones escaped #25. That's not her best song at all, but no way Caroline deserves the bottom spot in any RD!

Yay!! I figured "You Got Away With It" would be out relatively soon, but also know that Brett Young is fairly well-liked on Pulse so I am surprised (VERY pleasantly so) to see this one out first. It was pretty awful, lol. The verse was especially dreadful. I still can't stand his voice either, although I can listen to him if I like the song. This song ain't it tho, that's for sure. Very grating song.

Yeah, this is really bad. Glad this isn't Brett's new single.

🌺CountryLineDancer predicted our last place correctly! The majority predicted Caroline Jones would be our first to leave, but I imagine this had to be on everybody's radar as a possibility as well. Brett's falsetto that forces its way into every instrumental break in this song sounds like a dog being kicked, and the melody is overall grating, and made somehow even worse by the annoying production. I have nothing positive to say about this mess, lmao. Still, surprisingly only 6 of us put this in last place! The majority made room for it in their bottom 5 though.

I'm glad that Brett Young was out before Caroline. "Come In" really isn't THAT bad lol. I don't enjoy the melody, but instrumentation wise it's fairly solid and there's no mistaking it, this is a country song.

Caroline Jones was predicted to be our last place contender, and she did spend a little time there! But overall she clung onto the bottom 2 for most of the submission process, with a comfortable lead on Brett Young but also not much chance of getting higher.
I posted in the single thread that I think this song's biggest flaw is that it needed songwriting help. It feels underwritten and pointless to me, although I do think there is a good idea for a song buried in here somewhere. In its current form though, it is definitely not going to be one I revisit much... At least it has undeniably country production, which is something I hope Caroline continues to deliver in the future even if this song flops!

This is so, so bad. Idk what redeemable qualities some of y'all hear in this. I also really hated "All of the Boys" so this girl is not someone I've been rooting for. "Chasin' Me" wasn't bad, but nothing too amazing either.
Edit: This was about "Come In". "The Flame" is great, idk why so few people liked it...

Now that the obvious bottom 2 is out, things get quite a bit more painful right away! SHOOTER suffers the first top 5 loss of the rankdown with his #4 for Camille, while zaclord 🌈 loses a top 10 and a couple others come close! Honestly, I'm not sure why this song was THIS low. I think the poppier production tends to turn off some of the tractors, but I figured it would make it at least to the top 20.

"The Flame" was so pretty and her voice was gorgeous, too. Out too soon for sure.

"Runnin' Wild" was sooooooo bland to me! I usually enjoy more traditional production, but this one somehow manages to be so forgettable that I literally do not even remember what the start of the chorus sounds like by the time the chorus finishes... I think I'm getting tired of Midland too. They went from being an exciting new act to just taking up space quicker than most artists normally do, lol.

"Runnin' Wild" is the first Midland song I've heard that I STRAIGHT UP dislike. It was really bad, like... I couldn't make it all the way thru bad! A huge step down for them, that's for sure.

I still like it, but "You Got Away with It" is one of my least favorite songs from Brett Young yet, so I'm not too upset by it being last, and I expected it would be bottom 5 for sure, lol.
The Caroline Jones and Camille Parker songs were nothing special, but also not exactly terrible either. I actually didn't outright 'hate' anything in my list which is rare (there's usually at least 1 very bad song, lol).
ETA: Midland came closest to dislike territory for me. I continue to not see the hype for them. They've been consistently meh their whole career and I've only genuinely liked 2 singles from them thus far.

Darius Rucker's output continues down a dreadful path. Luckily, "My Masterpiece" isn't Darius referring to this song as being his masterpiece, because it certainly is not. Musically, this was atrocious.

I should point out that Darius actually tied with the #20 song! He missed out on #20 because somebody ranked the next song at #2

"Stairway To Heaven Highway To Hell" actually wasn't that bad to me! I don't like it enough to seek it out, but in passing I'd probably let it play.

Tracy Lawrence was a huge staple of '90s country. However I feel like he is one artist whose modern output rarely rises to the excellent level of his early work. STHHTH is catchy, but tbh hasn't really given me a reason to put it on repeat or anything. By the way, I've got a rankdown open right now for Tracy Lawrence's singles! This song may not be everyone's favorite, but he has SO many amazing jams that are quintessential to the last 30 years of country music! Feel free to join if you're interested It's still got a few weeks 'til the deadline! Tracy Lawrence Singles Rankdown

I love Brett Young so, so much, but his latest is atrocious. That's one of the few songs I actively disliked on this month's list. I too am glad we won't have to be subjected to this mess for months and months on end whenever we have errands to run and we're listening to the car radio. Caroline's latest is not the best thing since sliced bread, but it's not the worst thing since sliced bread either, like many in her single thread thought. I won't actively seek this one out, but I didn't dislike it either. In fact, much of her music has proven to be wonderful in at least one aspect. For this song, that aspect is the instrumentation and production. It is so beautifully country!!! My favorite from her remains "What A View" because that one's great in EVERY aspect. I wish she'd try sending that one to radio. Camille's song makes no sense being on this list if you ask me, it seems like a straight-up pop song; I heard nothing country about this, lol. That said, it was still pretty good. Not something I'll likely revisit, but her voice is INCREDIBLE. "Runnin' Wild" is not among Midland's best imo. "My Masterpiece" is a great song imo! Not among Darius' best, but Darius also has gems like "Wagon Wheel," "Come Back Song," "Don't Think I Don't Think About It," etc. in his catalog. Those are another echelon! I'm excited for his next studio record; it's been too long since the last one! I absolutely adore his voice and if you do too, you can rank "My Masterpiece" and the other 19 of his career radio singles in the Darius Rucker Rankdown, which is currently open and due May 12! Tracy Lawrence's song was pretty good, but this list was so strong and I didn't see myself likely revisiting this one, except in the Tracy Lawrence rankdown (which is also coming up). Not a terrible song by any means!
