Maddie & Tae leave us next, with "I Don't Need To Know" at #4. This song seems to be one of the most talked-about songs on their new album, so I figured it would be a good one to include. And y'all did not do it dirty, for the most part! It was an almost constant top 10 contender, and solidified itself in the final half as a constant contender for #3 or #4!

Sorry for the delay there. My sister came into my room and wouldn't leave. I really need to get my own place! Lol I was glad for the delay. i was out for a bit so i got caught up. Just want to say I've only heard three of the songs on the radio so far. ANd since "Cool Again" and "Gabrielle" had their hourly debuts I have hardly heard them. But I have heard "I Found Another You" at least a half dozen times in the last few weeks, and that was after I ranked it. So happy it did so well here.

"I Don't Need to Know" >> "Bathroom Floor" as far as I'm concerned. Bring it on as the next single please!

Ruthie Collins was an absolute beast of a competitor in this rankdown!! It doesn't look like "Dang Dallas" was a huge #1 contender, but for almost the entire time it was at #2 it was behind Mark Chesnutt by just a point or two, so really it could have overtaken him at any moment. It also spent more time in the top 5 than just about any other song in the entire rankdown. Not bad for Ruthie's first rankdown!!

What the hell is this Mark Chesnutt song doing at #5. It deserved last place and definitely does NOT deserve to be higher than "Hard To Say I'm Sorry," "Champagne Night," and a few others on this list. Atrocious song imo. It's about damn time it left. Say what?! It sound something straight out of the 90s! Country goodness! SO thrilled that it made the top 5 tbh. It was easily the best song on this list IMO.

This is the second song I’ve heard from that Parker guy and while this one is much better, I haven’t really gotten into him yet..Still sure about that? I feel like he is to me what Michael Ray is to you, extremely easy on the eyes but meh musically lol.

"I Don't Need to Know" rivals DFABH as the BEST song on their new album. I am completely addicted to it. The lyric of The only thing worse than my imagination is all of these third party observations is probably my favorite line in any new song of 2020 thus far. Just wow, what a gut punch that line and really the whole song is, and it has an insatiable melody. I am *really* hoping they go with that for their next single. I can see it smashing tbh.

So glad that "Dang Dallas" was included here because I've been in love with this song ever since I first listened to Ruthie's album back in April. This was definitely one of the standout tracks then and it's remained one of my favorites since. Glad to see y'all love it as much as I do!

Alright, "Sparrow" vs. "The Stranger"!!!! Ashley McBryde vs. Ingrid Andress. Both relatively new female artists in the genre. And both were significant #1 contenders here! But which one will take it all??

I guess I just need to listen to "I Don't Need to Know" some more, but it didn't really standout much to me when I listened to their album nor did it connect with me here. I'm obviously very much in the minority on not liking this one, though, so I'll for sure give it another try soon.

"Dang Dallas" is fantastic. I love Ruthie Collins and that her voice sounds so much like Kellie Pickler's... which is a nice substitute since she has fallen off the face of the earth. </3
Also, I LOVE this top 2! Wow! What an incredible pair of songs "The Stranger" and "Sparrow" both are. I will be thrilled either way!

"I Don't Need to Know" >> "Bathroom Floor" as far as I'm concerned. Bring it on as the next single please! "Bathroom Floor" might be my favorite song from The Way It Feels but as a single I totally agree with "I Don't Need to Know" - "Bathroom Floor" gives me the feeling that it would get bad callouts and won't work as a single. Edit: YESSSS Ingrid pulled through!!!

Sorry to all you "Sparrow" hopers! Ashley's epic ballad took command of the #1 spot after Mark lost his footing, and appeared poised to become the runaway #1 from that point forward!!! However, all five of Ingrid's #1 votes managed to come within the last handful of reveals, which helped her take over. She may have spent the least time in the top 5 out of anything else that was in the top 5, but once she grabbed #1, she did NOT look back!

Both are beautiful songs so I'm not upset by this outcome! "The Stranger" has such a pretty melody, just like "More Hearts Than Mine" did. This girl is the real deal... so much talent. "Sparrow" is just a fantastic song, and Ashley McBryde is just a stellar artist. I'm very happy this made it all the way to the end. Thanks for hosting bboat11 this was fun!

I liked both but definitely prefer Sparrow and I wish if not my #1 that that would've taken the win here. Oh well, this is the start of a fun series!
Here's to the May 2020 edition!

As much as I love Ashley McBryde (which is VERY much) and think "Sparrow" is one of the best songs (possibly the best) on her new record, "The Stranger" is just a little bit more of a homerun for me. It's pretty razor thin between the two in terms of the total package of fantastic melody, vocals, and lyrics though. Both fantastic songs. The vibrato on the sustained note Ingrid hits on the didn't know you at aaallll in particular just gives me absolute chills. What a masterful use of her voice. She has a killer ear for melody too. I'm completely swept up in "The Stranger" since first hearing it, and I'm SO happy that it was chosen as her next single because it is 100% the best song on Lady Like. It deserves all the success. Thanks for kicking off a great series, bboat11. Can't wait for the next round!

Still sure about that? I feel like he is to me what Michael Ray is to you, extremely easy on the eyes but meh musically lol. I feel like judging Parker on just "Pretty Heart" and "Like A Cowboy" isn't gonna do him much. I love both songs but it took a while for "Pretty Heart" to grow on me and I liked "Like A Cowboy" a lot quicker but I didn't like it immediately. "Hell of a Year" is my favorite song from him. Also, I like the pic tim I guess I just need to listen to "I Don't Need to Know" some more, but it didn't really standout much to me when I listened to their album nor did it connect with me here. I'm obviously very much in the minority on not liking this one, though, so I'll for sure give it another try soon. it took a few listens for "I Don't Need to Know" to grow on me. I do like it but it is definitely not my favorite song from the new album. Still rooting for "Bathroom Floor" to be the next single

Yay, “The Stranger” is so good! I love Ingrid’s style and I hope she can continue to get success out of the initial OTV boost.

Since we're still talking about it, count me in the camp that thinks Parker is better seen than heard. He has an alright voice, but it just isn't clicking with me yet. There's no denying he's a looker tho!
