One Too Many is a country bop! Stay mad! Funny thing is I have yet to hear it on country radio. But I have heard it on the local pop, AC, AAA, and soft AC stations. Well heard about 3 seconds and changed the channel. The one time I let it play because I couldn't change it it was called Pink's new song with no mention of Keith.

I really love Pink's vocal, and it is a huge reason why I like One Too Many. Same here. It's because of Pink that this song is actually somewhat enjoyable hence why I bumped this up to my top 15. That said, I understand Keith is very well respected within the industry but I just can't wrap my head around why country radio still embraces his output as he hasn't released anything remotely good since "Blue Ain't Your Color"....in 2016!

an okay star to this!
"Earth To God" is just a bad song, I may not like John's personal life all that much but I do usually enjoy his music. This one belongs in a trash heap along with "The Good Lord And The Man".
"Long Live" is not utter garbage, but it's so bland with nothing new or interesting to say. They don't even sound engaged with the song either so I almost feel like the know it too.
"Angel From Montgomery" was done a bit dirty here, I'm a fairly big Wynonna fan but this one wasn't my favorite from her. Great song and great singer but I just don't really enjoy her take on it. Should've at least escaped the bottom 5.
"One Too Many" is not going to go down in the top half of Keith's singles but I actually quite enjoy this one. He's still kinda on auto-pilot but he's talented enough that going through the motions is still okay with me. I do miss being excited by his material though.
"Just About Over You" is the other song in here I just think is trash. Just so bland and honestly the more I hear it the more I hate it. I don't hear this melody that's being brought up as a strong point either?!

I really like “One Too Many”, probably because of Pink’s involvement. She is incredibly talented, and elevates everything she touches.

Here is our bottom 5:
25. Earth To God - John Rich (448) 24. Long Live - Florida Georgia Line (377) 23. Angel From Montgomery - Wynonna Judd (334) 22. Just About Over You - Priscilla Block 21. One Too Many - Keith Urban ft. P!nk I'm honestly shocked the Bon Jovi song survived this. 😂 Well that aged well!! Bon Jovi and Jennifer Nettles kick off our top 20! They alternated between the 22ish range and the 18ish range, with 20 being a nice average for their trajectory. The melody here is pretty great, but tbh I have a LOT of problem taking this song seriously because it is SO Covid-specific. Talking about chicken farms providing PPE, for example, automatically makes this song completely useless outside of the immediate context in which we currently find ourselves I do like the melody though, which is why it nearly made my top 15!

I had completely forgotten Jennifer Nettles was a part of the Bon Jovi song until boat reminded me. Yeah, they captured lightning in a bottle over a decade ago... this time, not so much. Please don't cancel me, someguy! 😩

The fan written lyrics in Do What You Can are such a mess. Aaron Watson still has weird single choices for his albums. Comparing with songs remaining though, it's too low.

I didn't mean to give y'all literally zero time to guess the hint, but I don't really know what my plan was 'cause I didn't want to wait. Of course the hint refers to "Silverado Saturday Night" because in Tyler Farr's most well-known hit, he is a crazy redneck who is specifically driving a Silverado! In fact, his version of a Silverado Saturday night would probably be parking his Silverado on your front lawn and shining his headlights through your window, while throwing empty beer cans at you

Abby Anderson leaves us next, much to the chagrin of ClevelandRox who takes a hit to his top 2!!! I do not know enough about Abby to really feel much connection to her artistry yet, but "We Go Together Like" is definitely one that I have enjoyed discovering! This is a catchy song that I could hear being a hit for any number of female artists. If I'm remembering correctly though, didn't she just recently leave her record deal for a publishing deal though? So it probably won't be a hit for her!

Despite knowing "Do What You Can" will age pretty bad to to the specificity of the lyrics, I do love it. Melodically it's a winner and Jennifer's vocal is sooo infectious!
Abby hasn't had an outright miss from me but her material is usually just okay for me. "We Go Together Like" doesn't stand out enough for me to rank highly.
Aaron has some great songs in his discography, this isn't one of them. Not offensive but just forgettable.

"Do What You Can" is so bad, Bon Jovi's vocals are not good and the "although I'll keep my social distance..." verse just sounds awkward and ruins the whole mood of the song for me. I feel like the song had its moments but overall it just falls flat as a song and was a pretty easy choice for my last place.

"Better Said Than Done" was a frustrating one to watch. I feel like some of y'all tanked it just because the vocalist sounded "old" :( The more I listened to this, the more the melody got under my skin. This song is SO catchy, and ETC still sounds pretty great here despite sounding old, lol. It was a consistent #22 contender for the first half, but fortunately started to get some love in the second half, which helped it to finally settle in as our consistent #17 contender! tim, do you know what the story is with this album? Like, when was it recorded? Why was it suddenly released? The fact that he's dead, and it's an album called "The Lost Album", has me intrigued, lol.

Never being one to just let other people flop without feeling the need to jump in and join them, ClevelandRox officially becomes the 3rd person to lose his #1, on the heels of someguy and superdave3556! Rachel Wammack is in a similar boat with Abby Anderson for me. I am very interested to hear more, but don't really have much of a sense for her as an artist yet. I will say that I enjoyed the energy level of "What He Does" compared to most of her stuff that I have heard! The way it starts out kinda slow, but then suddenly picks up intensity heading into the chorus, is a highlight of the song for sure.

Keith Whitley was a majorly influential star in country music back in the 1980s. He racked up some HUGE and iconic hits in just a couple of albums, such as "When You Say Nothing At All", "I'm No Stranger To The Rain", "Don't Close Your Eyes", etc. Unfortunately, much like Patsy Cline, his superstar trajectory was cut tragically short by his untimely death. His came at the hands of his own demons, however, as he essentially struggled with alcoholism so much that he drank himself to death.
At the time of his death, he was married to fellow country star Lorrie Morgan. The two of them had a son together, named Jesse Keith Whitley.
"Think Of Me" is Jesse singing with his mom, which is kinda cool!
I expected this song to struggle MUCH worse here than it did, tbh. It's not very exciting, Jesse is an unknown, and Lorrie's voice is aging soooooo badly, lol. However, I've gotta be honest, while I was ambivalent towards it at first, it ended up growing on me significantly, putting it in my own top 10 at #10! And I'm not the only one, as I am joined by a slurry of SIX other people who also ranked it at #10!!!
The majority of this song's ranks came between #10 and #17, with very few outliers, which is undoubtedly what helped it to beat John Rich to be our least polarizing song!

I have not been impressed with "You Time" thus far. However, Scotty McCreery's songs almost always need time to grow on me. "See You Tonight" was probably his only immediate single for me. And I'll be damned if this isn't starting to grow on me already. Lol. Listening to it again right now I'm finding it to be catchy. I guess we'll see how I feel about it by the time the 2021 year-end rankdown comes around

Idk, the sound of drums in Better Said Than Done doesn't give off much country vibe, but can't really find any problems with this one. I kinda like the dark piano in the beginning of What He Does. It becomes a bit meh when the chorus comes though.
