Next Girl is often compared to Patty Loveless' music, but has anyone ever compared Whiskey and Rain to Gary Allan's music? I think I saw the comparison somewhere and then keep thinking this could be his comeback song instead of another HARDY co-wrote in mainstream country music realm. Anyway that's a great rankdown finish and thanks bboat11 for hosting as usual. |

For me it harkens back to Joe Nichols' "Brokenheartsville" more than anything though. Also lol "Someone's Sometimes" would not have done better in this RD than "Closure" did. |

We really put the former couple in the Top 2...and then the scorned woman wound up winning :kii: :kii: :kii: All jokes aside, I thought "Whiskey and Rain" was okay, but count me in the boat where it will have to grow on me, while his former wife's song was the most immediate for me. "Next Girl" is a certified country bop and a half and I'm very glad to see it win here! The video is funny as hell too. Can't wait for Album 3! Thanks for hosting bboat11! I can't believe it's been 6 months of this series already. I'm kinda grateful it exists because I know for a fact that without it, I'd not be as on top of all the other new releases of the genre. Can't wait to see how this series does in 2021! (and also next month) |

Maybe her vocals don't really change much over the time, but I don't feel her vocals sounding this unnatural in The World Goes On that was featured a few months ago. |

Ha Ha Ha funny y'all, but I just don't like "Next Girl" even tho I have tried, because I want to. But it's just... not great. Her voice sounds so strained. Like, she has always sound nasally to me and that really holds her back from truly shining on the vocal for this song tbh. I like the instrumentation, lyrics are great... I appreciate the leaning towards traditional country, but... yeah. I'm just not a fan of it or her voice at all. Never have been, y'all know this. "Whiskey and Rain" however is absolutely incredible. That melody... is stunning. I love the instrumentation and the production... really appreciate the fiddle. I also quite like the lyrics to this, and I like the style Michael seems to be heading with his new material. SO thrilled it made it all the way to #2 here, especially since the opinion of Michael the person is so negative these days by most who know anything about him and Carly's split. I’m not into Next Girl either. Carrie already did the hook of this and Carlys voice just isn’t working for me at all. The video is fine. Michael’s song is excellent and whether it has chart success or not I hope he stays in this lane and doesn’t go back to “One That Got Away.” |

I'd have loved to see "Like A Movie" in this as that's my favorite from the record but I also enjoy "Forgetting You" and I see the reason it was chosen since it was released early from it. Can't wait to see how she does again!
Also I had no idea Reba had a new song out with someone! Cody Johnson must still have stars in his eyes from getting to have such a great experience!

Sooooooo this is supposed to be due tomorrow, and we only have 9 people  I know this time of year tends to get super busy, but I can't really extend this a whole lot considering the monthly nature of this series and the fact that it's already due way later in the month than usual. So let's say this is officially your last call, but I will continue to accept any lists that trickle in for the duration of the month. (Which is only two days away, btw.
